HISTORY OF BIALETTI: AN ITALIAN STORY Bialetti was created in 1919, when Alfonso Bialetti opened a workshop in Crusinallo (Verbania) Italy, to make semi-finished aluminum products. Motivated by an entrepreneurial spirit, he transformed his workshop into a studio for the design and production of market-ready goods. Thanks to Alfonso s brilliant intuition, in 1933, the Moka Express coffee maker saw the light of day. Afterward, thanks to the ambition of his son Renato, its Art Decò design was to revolutionise coffee making at home and immediately establish the company as one of the leading Italian manufacturers of coffee makers. Today, Bialetti Industrie is a leading Italian manufacturer and a major operator in international markets with a brand that is synonymous with cutting edge design and Italian quality. In the same year Cem was taken over. 1 THE ITALIAN COFFEE RITUAL Using your Bialetti coffee maker Fill the bottom chamber with cold water up to the level of the safety valve. 4 Screw the upper part onto the bottom chamber and tighten well, but not too tight, avoid using pressure on the handle. 2 Insert the funnel filter into the bottom chamber. Any excess water will rise into the filter, discard it before putting in the coffee. 5 Place the coffee maker on a heat source; if it is a gas cooker, keep the flame low so that the flames do not contact the side wall. 3 Fill the filter with ground coffee, without pressing it down, taking care not to leave any coffee on the edge. 6 When the coffee rises into the upper part of the coffee maker, remove it from the heat source and enjoy a full-bodied, hot cup of espresso coffee, Italian style.
