The product complies with the current Ph. Eur., USP and FCC monographs. Applications Vitamin A Esters are active ingredients for cosmetic skin-care products. They release Vitamin A on contact with enzymes in the skin. Vitamin A stimulates cell growth, increases enzyme activity and normalizes cell division. They are therefore able to counteract the skin-aging process and improve the appearance of UV-damaged skin. 1 International unit (IU) can be converted into weight with the following equations 1 IU = 0.3 µg Vitamin A alcohol (Retinol) 0.344 µg Vitamin A Acetate 0.55 µg Vitamin A Palmitate Stability and storage Vitamin A Palmitate 1.7 Mio IU/G is available stabilized and unstabilized. All grades are available stabilized with approx. 10 mg of DL-alpha-Tocopherol per Mio IU or with approx. 10 mg of BHT per Mio IU. Vitamin A Esters are sensitive to air, light, moisture and heat. The product has a shelf life of 12 months if stored in the original sealed containers at max. 25 C, and 24 months at 5 C. Opened original containers should be flushed with an inert gas and used up quickly. Prior to use, the product must be heated to 40 C in the unopened container and homogenized. Occasionally difficult to dissolve crystals can be found in the product. In such cases placing the canister in a water bath at 60 C and letting it gently warm up, with homogenisation, will enable complete dissolution of the crystals.
