Ordering Information for KODAK INDUSTREX Film Products Catalog Numbers Products listed in this catalog are identified by sevendigit CAT numbers. These CAT (for Catalog) Nos. appear not only in catalogs but also on the product packages. A CAT No. identifies both the product and the size, enabling your dealer to give you the best possible service on your order. Alphanumeric Code In addition to the CAT No., each film product includes an alphanumeric code, which identifies the film type, speed indicator, and format. The following codes identify the film type: KODAK Films and Papers Code INDUSTREX SR45 SR INDUSTREX DR50 DR50 INDUSTREX M100 M100 INDUSTREX MX125 MX125 INDUSTREX T200 T200 INDUSTREX AA400 AA400 INDUSTREX CX CX INDUSTREX B B INDUSTREX 620 Paper 620 INDUSTREX 700 Paper 700 The following numbers are used to identify the film format. Film Format Code Non-Interleaved -1 Interleaved -5 Ready Pack II -2 Pb Contactpak -7 Duo Ready Pack -3 NIF Bulk Roll -359 Ready Pack Roll -381 LEAD PACK Roll -382 should include the alphanumeric code; for roll films, the description should also include the roll size. Storage, Handling, and Safelight Information Storage Care in storing and handling radiographic films is extremely important. Sealed packages of film are affected by heat; opened packages by humidity as well as heat. Safelight Recommendations Safelights provide illumination for personnel to work safely in the darkroom without fogging the exposed or unexposed film. Ideally, store all film packages in an area properly shielded from penetrating radiation and at a temperature of 10 to 24 C (50 to 75 F ). Store opened packages at 30 to 50 percent relative humidity. Store processed radiographs at 16 to 27 C (60 to 80 F ) and 30 to 50 percent relative humidity. For darkroom illumination that will not harm industrial x-ray film: Use a filter such as KODAK Safelight Filter 6B / brown, with a KODAK Safelight Lamp. Frequently check the lamp and filter for cracks that would allow white light to leak through and fog the film. Use a standard pearl 15-watt bulb in the safelight lamp. Heat from bulbs of higher wattage may damage the fragile safelight filter. Position the safelight lamp at least 1.2 meters (4 feet) from the work area. Do not expose x-ray film to safelight for more than one minute. Always place the safelight filter in the housing so that the label is right-reading. If the label is wrong-reading, the filter will not have as long a life expectancy. Handling Place packages of film on edge to avoid pressuremarking the film, and so that the date is clearly visible. Use older dated film first. Handle radiographic film carefully to avoid physical strains caused by pressure, creasing, buckling and friction. Do not draw film rapidly from the carton, film holder, or cassette, nor handle it in any way that could cause static electrical discharges. Handle film packages with interleaving paper with the same care as those without interleaving paper. When handling radiographic film, cleanliness is essential. 1-3

Relative Exposure Factors of KODAK INDUSTREX Films The relative film speeds in these tables are based on matched radiographs at a density of 2.0 above gross fog. Use these values as starting points for calculating exposures. Because of rounding, averaging procedures, differences in radiation quality, processing conditions, etc., differences may occur between these values and specific practical situations. The tablet is exposed on INDUSTREX M Film, perhaps the most consistent industrial x-ray film on the market today. The strip has 17 density steps ranging from less than 0.20 to greater than 4.20. Each strip is calibrated according to the ISO Standard for Diffuse Visual Transmission Density and in accordance with ANSI PH2.19-1990, ISO 5-2:1991, ANSI PH2.18, and ISO 5-2:1984. All density measurements are made within a circle 3 mm in diameter at the center of each step with the strip identification number facing the densitometer diffuser. The density values given are traceable to NIST through traceable calibrations of the instrumentation utilized in the calibration process. This process was additionally verified by measurement of an NIST X-ray Film Step Tablet, Standard Reference Material 1001. Not all sizes are stocked or available in all countries. The dryer exhaust must be separately ducted. For more information about this equipment or for advice on site layout, please contact Kodak or your local supplier. Water The wash water is regulated internally to 5.7 litres (1.5 gal)/min. For long-term keeping, the wash water temperature should be 4 C (40 F) or higher for the 8-minute cycle; 16 C (60 F) or higher for the 11.5-minute cycle. The wash water temperature must be at least 5 C (41 F) cooler than the developer temperature to allow the heat exchanger to stabilize the developer temperature. 4-3
Processors and Accessories continued KODAK INDUSTREX M35/M35A Processor Easy to install and use Compact size 67 x 75 cm (26.5 x 30 inches) Automatic standby mode saves energy and wear Warm-air drying means optimum film-surface quality The small, multi-speed M35/M35A Processor is reliable and easy to install and use. Consistent replenishment rates, constant temperature control, continuous agitation, and repeatable processing cycle times produce consistent quality radiographs. The automatic standby mode in the M35/M35A Processor turns off the drive, the dryer blower, and the dryer heater when the system is not in use. The touch of a button restores the processor to full operation. This standby mode, plus the use of ambient-temperature wash water saves energy and wear on the components. Radiographic Equivalence Factor The equivalence factor is used to calculate the equivalent thickness of steel. The equivalence factor for copper, from the chart below, at 220 kv is 1.4. To calculate the equivalent steel thickness, multiply the thickness of copper by the equivalence factor. For example, 0.5 inches of copper is equivalent to 0.5 x 1.4 = 0.7 inches of steel. Use a steel chart to determine the exposure for 0.7 inches of steel at 220 kv.
