C&F Green Energy 3 Description of the wind turbine The CF20 is designed for grid-connected power delivery, with a manufacturer s declared rated power output of 20 kw. The CF20 is a horizontal axis machine with a 3-blade upwind rotor with active speed and power control through active blade pitch actuation and turbine yaw control. The CF20 has a three-phase permanent magnet variable-speed generator directly coupled to the rotor, the output of which is fully converted in the inverter. The inverter output is configured for connection to three-phase split-phase or single-phase electrical networks with nominal operating voltage of 230 V phase to neutral at 50 hz. Overspeed protection is provided by disc brake on the main shaft. The nacelle is mounted on a self-supporting steel monopole tower which is hinged to permit lowering of the nacelle for installation and maintainence. This machine is based on the CF25 (Phase A) but with the power output restricted to 20 kw by means of speed reduction and inverter programming.
