TODAY IS An Open Day is your chance to get a taster for what life will be life will be like as a Staffordshire University student at the Centre of Excellence in Healthcare education. There ll be no partying, or takeaways (not yet anyway), but it s your opportunity to gather everything you need to know. You ll get to meet some of our tutors, chat to current students, experience our patient scenarios and visit our new accommodation facilities. You ll leave clued up and equipped with all the tools to make your decision. So enjoy your day, have fun, and remember to ask loads of questions. WHO WE ARE At Staffordshire University we re all about independent thinking, and growing people who think and act for themselves. We learn for the future, but we live in the here and now. We know that you ll leave Staffordshire University with a great qualification, but what s more important to us is that you ll have a great time doing so. You ll leave with an edge over your competition, and you ll be ready for the world of work.

FIRST THINGS When you arrive the first thing you need to do is to register by heading to the Centre of Excellence Information Point. We want you to discover what s really going on at Staffordshire University. Discover a glimpse of your future and, ultimately, discover a university that you can t wait to join. INFORMATION HUB Here, you can meet and talk to staff from Support Services. If you have any questions or queries, the Information Hub is where you will get them answered. Whether it s about the application process, accommodation, finance, making friends or anything else then there ll be somebody on hand to help. else then there ll be somebody on hand to help. TALK THE WELCOME TO STAFFORDSHIRE UNIVERSITY This is our welcome to you and where you ll gain an insight into the values and goals of Staffordshire University s Centre of Excellence. It includes a student life question and answer session - they re here to share their personal experiences as Healthcare students and answer any questions you might have. SUBJECT SPECIFIC TALKS Find out everything you need to know about your preferred area of study. Learn more about Midwifery, Nursing, Operating Department Practice and Paramedics and meet the staff who may be teaching you. You can also talk to our Healthcare students who are studying your subject of interest. See centre pages for the times of subject specific talks. PATIENT SCENARIOS These acted scenes will not only showcase our facilities in use, they offer an insight into typical true- to-life scenarios that students experience whilst on Health Profession courses. Everything from a birth to a heart attack, a paediatric operation to a mental health scenario. Students will treat real-life actors and state of the art mannequins... prepare to see your future course in action!

WALK ACCOMMODATION TOURS From sharing placement travel together, to getting a peaceful night s sleep and quiet study time, sharing space with your fellow students ensures your university lifestyle fits perfectly with your studies. Accommodation tours will run from 15.00, departing from the Centre of Excellence entrance and take around 30 minutes. This is where you ll get to see your potential new home and collect information about living in our dedicated accommodation. CAMPUS TOURS At Staffordshire University we re exceptionally proud of our two dedicated Centres of Excellence in Healthcare Education. Extensive investment ensures students are trained using industry leading technology. In addition to our clinical skills laboratories, we offer a fully functional operating theatre suite and a training ambulance for use in the clinical field. Our social study space and cafe provides relaxing environments for students in-between classes and the dedicated healthcare library provides an extensive resource of information, tailored to the needs of our healthcare students. Campus tours run from 09.00 until 15.00, departing from the Centre of Excellence entrance and take around 30 minutes.. LIBRARY TOURS The dedicated library facilities we offer at Stafford provides students with the best possible space to support their studies. Group study spaces encourage student collaboration, whilst private study spaces support those who prefer to study in a quiet environment. Our Libraries aren t just about books either - they are a massive resource of information, tailored to the needs of our healthcare students. All resources are centred around healthcare, meaning you don t need to find your way through non-related course information to find what you need. Library tours run from 09.00 until 15.00 in the Blackheath Lane Library and IT Centre.

CENTRES OF EXCELLENCE IN Healthcare Education Through two ground-breaking Centres of Excellence in Healthcare Education, the University has committed to a high level of investment, transforming its existing teaching sites at the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital and Blackheath Lane in Stafford. New social spaces perfectly complement the cutting-edge learning and teaching facilities, not forgetting the very latest treatment simulation techniques, to take your healthcare experience even further. You ll have access to a fully functional operating theatre suite, a fully kitted-out ambulance and skills labs, that ensure the most realistic training possible. Diverse placements We offer the widest breadth placements available, in a diverse mix of locations and disciplines. Students could be based within a community, hospital or specialist unit, ensures they are exposed to a range of patients and experiences.
