Dear colleague, The Vaccine Industry Excellence (ViE) Awards have been created to honor and generate recognition of the efforts, accomplishments, and positive contributions of organizations and individuals within the vaccine industry. The ViE Awards provide a time and a place to celebrate the industry s most outstanding achievements. The awards are positioned to identify and reward those organizations and individuals who have demonstrated an unparalleled ability to succeed and to continually set standards of excellence and advocacy over the previous 12 months. 10 awards will be hotly contested and are open to nomination from stakeholders from within the global vaccine sector. A final Outstanding Achievement Award will also be presented; the winner of this award is chosen by the judging panel. The ViE Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner The winners will be announced exclusively at the 2016 Gala Dinner and Ceremony, taking place on day one of the 16 th World Vaccine Congress Washington in Washington DC on March 29, 2016. The ViE Awards 2015 were a huge success, with over 325 stakeholders in attendance, and the 2016 awards ceremony is already building to be even bigger and better so be sure to nominate and vote for your organization or peers. What follows in the course of this document are the 10 award categories that the public nominated for, the respective criteria that will be used to judge the nominations, the voting instructions and submission deadlines. The Best Early-Stage Vaccine Biotech category is open to global early-stage Biotechs Ability to move the business from early stage to a more mature company Quality and diversity of the vaccine pipeline and candidates Advancements in taking a new product to market or through clinical stages Meaningful licensing or partnership deals Securing significant new funds for growth The Biotech CEO of the Year category is open to Chief Executives from all sized Biotechs Degree of outstanding commitment to disease prevention and treatment Level of exemplary leadership throughout the year Contribution to company performance, communication and vision Influence within the industry and communication of a shared vision Achievements made with regards to company positioning and status The Best Pharma Company category is open to international Pharmaceutical organizations Size and range of the overall vaccine pipeline Mix across development phases Spread across innovation and lower risk candidate development Commitment to R&D productivity model implementation Current and future market potential and value for the pipeline The Best Therapeutic Vaccine (approved or in development) category is open to all vaccine organizations Vaccine candidate addresses current unmet medical needs Candidate shows significant potential for vast geographical and market reach Candidate possesses a novel mode of action or technology Progress made to-date through clinical trials and / or achieved milestones Advanced efficacy, safety and risk management data where appropriate The Best Prophylactic Vaccine (approved or in development) category is open to all vaccine organizations Vaccine candidate addresses current unmet medical needs Candidate shows significant potential for vast geographical and market reach Candidate possesses a novel mode of action or technology Progress made to-date through clinical trials and / or achieved milestones Advanced efficacy, safety and risk management data where appropriate Nb. All nominations must fall within a timescale of April 1, 2015 to March 28, 2016, otherwise void.
How it works Timetable 1. December 11, 2015 Nominations are open 2. January 22 nd 2016 Nominations close 3. February 1 st 2016 Shortlisted companies contacted for award submission document 4. February 7 th 2016 Shortlist announced publicly and online shortlist voting opens 5. March 1, 2015 Award submissions provided to Scientific Advisory Board & online voting closes 6. March 29, 2016 Winners are announced at the 9 th ViE Awards Ceremony & Gala Dinner Industry s role (point 4 above) The Shortlist will be made public via the World Vaccine Congress Washington website and VaccineNation community blog and accompanying marketing channels to enable the wider industry to cast their vote on the shortlisted finalists. These votes will be accrued and will accompany the Scientific Advisory Board scores to give an overall aggregate score. Voting will take place @ http://www.terrapinn.com/conference/world-vaccine-congress-washington/c59537.stm Scientific Advisory Board (point 5 above) The ViE Awards prides itself on its scientific advisory board, comprised of senior industry representatives from governmental organizations, academia, industry wide experts and affiliate member associations, pharmaceutical and biotech. Each of the panelists are chosen for their knowledge, objectivity and credibility. The board mark each submission form against each criteria for its category and the scores marked out of a possible 10 for each criteria. Additional bonus marks will also be awarded by the external voting process. Scores are then collated by the ViE Awards team. Details of the winners are strictly embargoed until the evening Awards ceremony on the March 29, 2016.
