The Precious Holy Spirit One of the most precious and valuable gifts that God gave us, as believers, is the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit came to dwell in each one of us the moment we became born again. One of the reasons the Holy Spirit is in our life is to lead us and guide us into all truth. He s also here to lead us in our daily affairs. We need to learn to go by what we ve got in our spirit (our heart) and not be led by our minds or our emotions, or what other people tell us to do. We should always go by what we ve got in our spirit. Jesus said about the Holy Spirit in John 14:16,17, 26: And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. John 15:26: But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: John 16:7-14: Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: Of sin, because they believe not on me; Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more; Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you. #1: Go by God s Written Word FIRST
The number one rule for a Christian to go by is God s written Word. We don t need to pray about doing the Word; we just need to do it. We always want to put the Word first place in our life, and we spend time every day reading the Word. We re to always make sure that we re doing the Word of God that we know. When we do the Word we know to do, the Lord will take us on further, and reveal more Word to us (1 Corinthians 3:1-7) #2: We need to be Led by the Inward Witness We also need to be led by the Holy Spirit. It s very important that we stay in the Word and stay in prayer every day to feed our spirit on God s Word, as well as pay attention to what we ve got in our heart. It s important that we not ignore it. Romans 8:14-16: For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: Not only is being led by the Holy Spirit one of the benefits we have in our New Covenant that Old Testament people didn t have, but it s also a huge responsibility that we make sure that we re listening to our hearts, or our spiritman. Christians are always wanting to know things like if they should have the surgery or not, or if they should take this job or not, and the list seems to be endless. The answer to all these questions is for you to be led - spirit led. This is why it s vital that you make time every day and spend time in God s Word and in prayer. We want to train ourselves to be spirit led. I think that in many instances, we d rather have someone tell us what to do than find out from God for ourselves what we are to do. I ve been that way before, until I learned from being taught God s Word that I needed to wait on God for direction. We, as believers, are to go by what we ve got in our heart. What do we have in our spirit? We re not to go by what we want to do or not want to do, but what is God s plan? I want to encourage you to wait on God in prayer. Before you go do something, make sure you know in your spirit that this is something God wants you to do. You ll be tempted to do something just for the sake of doing it. This is where patience comes in. We must grow spiritually to the point
that we know our Father God s voice and learn to go by the inward witness. The Holy Spirit will bear witness with your spirit about what you are to do or not do. Thank God for visions, dreams, angelic appearances, personal prophecies, or even God speaking audibly (Matthew 3:17); those can be very spectacular. But God wants us to go by what we ve got in our spirit. This is something you want to work on every day. Something to help you out in the area of being led by the Holy Spirit is this: Don t confess confusion, don t confess that you never know what to do or what God wants you to do, but instead, say by faith: I m God s child; Jesus is my Lord; the Holy Spirit dwells in me, and He always leads me and guides me by an inward witness. I m a new creature and a spirit being, created in the image of God, and the greater One dwells within me. In the midst of confusion and bewilderment, boldly confess, The Greater One indwells me and He s leading me and guiding me. Father God, I thank You I m always led by the Holy Spirit, in Jesus Name. Making confessions of faith like that is going to be very helpful and beneficial to you. Remember, Jesus told us we have what we say (Mark 11:23). So, say by faith I know my Father s voice and the voice of a stranger I do not follow. 1 Thessalonians 5:23: And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 12:1,2: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17: Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 1 Corinthians 6:19: What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
2 Corinthians 6:16: And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. 1 John 4:4: Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. Philippians 2:13: For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure. We re not led externally; we re led inwardly. The Holy Spirit dwells in your spirit; not in your head or your emotions, but in your spirit. Jesus was led by the Holy Spirit Matthew 4:1: Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness... Paul was led by the Holy Ghost in Acts 15:25: It seemed good unto us, being assembled with one accord, to send chosen men unto you with our beloved Barnabas and Paul, Acts 15:28: For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things; Acts 16:18: And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. Acts 20:22,23: And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there: Save that the Holy Ghost witnesseth in every city, saying that bonds and afflictions abide me. Acts 27:10: And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.
You have the same Holy Spirit Jesus and Paul had, and you want to expect to be led the same way they were led. I want to encourage you to keep reading the scriptures I gave you and keep meditating on them. You can do this; you re God s child (Philippians 4:13). Remember, God wishes above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers (3 John 2). Your Word of faith pastor, Pastor Jesse Rich Jesse Rich Ministries P.O.
