UNIFORM WEAR(Class A/B) AND APPEARANCE Personal Appearance Male Cadets The hair on top of the head will be neatly groomed. The length and bulk of the hair will not be excessive or present a ragged, or unkempt, or extreme appearance. Hair will present a tapered appearance and when combed will not fall over the ears or eyebrows or touch the collar except for the closely cut hair at the back of the neck. Sideburns will be neatly trimmed. The base will not be flared and will be a clean shaven, horizontal line. Sideburns will not extend past the lowest part of the exterior ear opening. The face will be clean shaven, mustaches are permitted. If a mustache is worn, it will be neatly trimmed, tapered, and tidy and will not present a chopped off appearance. No portion of the mustache will cover the upper lip line or extend sideways beyond a vertical line drawn upward from the corner of the mouth. Female Cadets Hair will be neatly groomed. The length and bulk of the hair will not be excessive or present a ragged, or unkempt, or extreme appearance. Hair will not fall over the eyebrows or extend below the bottom edge of the collar in any uniform. Hair styles will not interfere with proper wearing of military headgear. Hair holding ornaments (such as but not limited to, barrettes, pins, clips, bands), if used, must be unadorned and plain and must be transparent or similar in color to the hair, and will be inconspicuously placed. Beads or other ornamental items are not authorized. Jewelry All Cadets: The wearing of a wrist watch, a wrist identification bracelet (only one per wrist), and not more than two rings (wedding set is considered one) is authorized with Army uniforms unless prohibited for safety reasons. Religious emblems may be worn underneath the uniform. Earrings Female Cadets are authorized optional wear of clip on, screw on, or post type earrings with the dress uniform. Earrings will not be worn with the battle dress uniform (ACU) or the Physical Training uniform. Earrings will not exceed 1/4 inch in diameter. They will be gold, silver, white pearl, or diamond; unadorned and spherical. When worn, earrings will fit snugly against the ear and will be worn as a matched pair with only one earring per ear lobe. Male Cadets are not authorized to wear any type of earring while on duty. Cosmetics

Cosmetics are authorized for wear by female cadets when applied conservatively (as determined by the PMS) and in good taste. Exaggerated or faddish cosmetic styles are inappropriate with the uniform and will not be worn. Lipstick and nail polish may be worn with all uniforms as long as the color is conservative and compliments the uniform. Extreme shades of lipstick and nail polish such as, purple, gold, blue, and white will not be worn. Tattoos & Body Piercing Visible tattoos or brands on the neck, face or head are prohibited. Tattoos on other areas of the body that are prejudicial to good order and discipline are prohibited. Additionally, any type of tattoo or brand that is visible while wearing a Class A uniform and detracts from a soldierly appearance is prohibited. No attaching, affixing, or displaying objects, articles, jewelry or ornamentation to or through the skin while in uniform, in civilian clothes while on duty, or off duty on a military installation. Backpacks Commercial rucksacks, gym bags or like articles may be worn over the shoulder while in uniform. Backpacks may also be worn over the shoulder when riding a bicycle or motorcycle. Class A Uniform The following insignia will be worn with the Class A Uniform: 1. ROTC Insignia (MSIII and IVs only) Male Worn centered on both lapels of the coat, parallel to the inside edge of each lapel the lower edge of the uniform, 1 inch above the notch of the lapel. Female Worn on both collars, lined horizontally, centered 1 inch from the lower edge of the collar and parallel to the floor. 2. Torch of Knowledge Insignia (MSI and IIs only)

Male Worn centered on both collars of the coat, parallel to the inside edge of each collar with the outside edge of the insignia 1 inch above the notch of the lapel. Female Worn centered on the lapel, 1 inch from the lower edge and perpendicular to the floor. 3. Distinctive unit insignia (Unit Crest) Centered on the shoulder loops of the coat midway between the rank and the outer edge of the button. 4. Rank 5/8 inches from the outer edge of both shoulder loops. 5. Insignia of Branch (MS IVs only) Male Worn centered on both lapels, 1 1/4 inches below the ROTC insignia on the coat of the Army Green uniform. The ROTC insignia is worn 5/8 inches up when branch insignia is worn. The branch insignia will be positioned so that the center line of the ROTC insignia is parallel to the inside edge of the lapel. Female The insignia of branch will be worn on both lapels of the Army green uniform coat approximately 1 1/4 inches below the ROTC insignia with the insignia bisecting the ROTC insignia and parallel to the

inside edge of the lapel. The ROTC insignia is worn 5/8 inches up from the notch when branch insignia is worn. 6. Academic Achievement Insignia (Qualified cadets only) Male Centered immediately above the right breast pocket on the coat and shirt when worn as an outer garment. Female Centered ¼ inch above any other insignia and/or nameplate worn on right coat front. 7. Parachutist badge (Qualified cadets only) 8. Air Assault badge (Qualified cadets only) 9. Ranger Challenge tab (Qualified cadets only) 10. ROTC Recondo badge (Qualified cadets only) Male Centered on the left breast pocket Female Centered on the left side and parallel to the waistline on the coat in a comparable position on the coat. Placement of the badge may be adjusted to conform to individual figure differences. 12. Distinguished Military Student (DMS) badge (Qualified cadets only)

Male Worn 1/8 inch above the right breast pocket on the coat and shirt when worn as an outer garment. The DMS badge will take precedence over other insignia worn over the right pocket. Female Worn centered 1/4 inch above any other insignia and/or nameplate worn on right coat front. 13. Nameplate Male The nameplate will be worn on the flap of the right breast pocket, centered between the top of the button and the top of the pocket on the Army Green, 415 shirt. The nameplate will be worn centered on the black patch of the black pullover sweater when not wearing the DUI. When wearing a DUI, the nameplate will be worn 1/2 inch above the bottom seam of the black patch with the DUI centered left to right, top to bottom above the nameplate. Female Placed on right coat front, 2 inches from the center of and level with the top of the first button. Placement of the nameplate may be adjusted to conform to individual figure differences. 14. Nurse cadet badge (Qualified cadets only) Male Worn 1/8 inch above the right breast pocket on the coat and shirt when worn as an outer garment. Female Worn centered 1/4 inch above the nameplate worn on right coat front. 15. CTLT/SMP Distinctive Unit Insignia (Qualified cadets only) Worn centered above the right pocket of the shirt or coat. Class B Uniform This uniform is the same as the class A uniform without the green coat. A plastic, pin on nametag must be worn on the right side of the Army green shade 415 shirt and rank shoulder boards must be worn. The black pullover sweater is optional.

Cadet Officer Insignia The insignia of grade for cadet field grade officers consists of flat lozenges, 3/4 inch wide by 1 1/4 inches long, and insignia for cadet company grade officers consists of flat disks, 3/4 inch in diameter. All cadet officer insignia will be of silver metal. Insignia of grade worn on ACUs will be suacued, except for the ACU cap, which is silver. 1. Cadet Colonel Three lozenges 2. Cadet Lieutenant Colonel Two lozenges 3. Cadet Major One lozenge 4. Cadet Captain Three disks 5. Cadet First Lieutenant Two disks 6. Cadet Second Lieutenant One disk Cadet officer rank insignia will be worn on both shoulder loops of the coat, sweater, and wind breaker. Wear of cadet officer grade insignia on the Class B uniforms and ACUs will be IAW CCR 670 1. Cloth shoulder boards with embroidered cadet rank are authorized for wear on the black sweater and class B uniform shirt for both officer and enlisted cadets. Cadet Non Commissioned Officer Insignia Insignia is of a gold color, metal pin on with chevrons, bars, and diamond (or star), indicating noncommissioned officer grades. Insignia of grade worn on ACUs, to include the headgear, will be suacued. Grades will be indicated as follows: 1. Cadet Command Sergeant Major Three chevrons above three bars with a star encircled in a wreath between the chevrons and bars. 2. Cadet Sergeant Major Three chevrons above three bars with a star between the chevrons and bars. 3. Cadet First Sergeant Three chevrons above three bars with a diamond between the chevrons and bars. 4. Cadet Master Sergeant Three chevrons above three bars.
