Scene: A school playground, doubling as a gym children gathering for break time and making noise. Playtime, playtime, time for break! What a lot of noise we make! We like to scream! (scream) We like to shout! (shout) We like to run and jump about! And all the teachers say to me... WHERE DO YOU GET THE ENERGY! Well. it s three things What you eat. What you do. And what you drink. Just like ev rybody, Gotta look after ev ry little bit. Just like ev ry body, I m gonna look after ME! I like to bike it, Run or swim or hike it.

Huurrrrr (big weary sigh) What s the matter (name)? I feel so tired. Why? I dunno! What time did you go to bed? Ten o clock. Ten o clock?! That s much too late at our age! You need more sleep! You Need Sleep Lots of sleep keeps you feeling bright. You need sleep ev ry night. If you want to stay, right through the day, Feeling sharp, feeling keen, feeling bright. Child lifts a huge dummy barbell. Wow! Let me try. (lifts) Oh ha ha, it s just for the school play. (Pumps it up and down, all the children try it.) I m going to be a famous athlete. It means a lot of hard work. I want to run in the Olympics. I want to do the long jump. Javelin! Boxing! I want to play for Man United! YAY! CHELSEA! ARSENAL! Any one for tennis? I want to be a ballerina/dancer. Enter ballerinas/dancers and do some dance steps. Lovely! (applaud) If we want to do all these things 3

We must all eat right and exercise. So what s good to eat? BURGERS! NO! VEGETABLES! Enter Vegetables (in costume) and Market Trader. They sing downstage, with the rest of the cast. Vegetables Well we ve got carrots, onions, spuds and turnips. Get yer luverly cabbage! Get them down inside your tum, As much as you can manage! Celery, spinach, beans and peas, You should eat them too! That s a cure for knobbly knees! Do you think that s true! Not really, not really. But you know what I mean. Veg tables will keep you fit and keep your insides clean! Well you can cook them any way you want to. Boil or grill or roast them. Put them in a lovely salad, You can even toast them. Nothing quite like a nice big leek, Put them in your stew! That s a cure for knobbly knees! Do you think that s true! Not really, not really. But you know what I mean. Veg tables will keep you fit and keep your insides clean! What about fruit? FRUIT?! We love fruit. Fruit Is Lovely Apples strawberries and grapes. Fruit can come in lots of shapes. Oranges and mandarins. Lots of love-ly vitamins. 4

What s a sports scientist? We find out scientific ways of making you good at sport. COOL! But good food and exercise is the most important thing. Say No! Say Stop! We re gonna eat more vegetables. We re gonna eat more fruit. Gotta cut back on sweetie treats, If you wanna look good in your nice new suit. Don t give me a lolipop! I m gonna take more excercise. I m gonna ride my bike. Don t start the car mum we can walk Because walking to school is what I like! Don t give me a lollipop! 5

Sometimes its OK to have a choc late biscuit Or a slice of cake. But hey! Not three times a day! Cause that s the way to give yourself a tummy ache!
