Suzuki Finance Buy or lease how do you decide? Your first decision is whether you want to buy or lease. Most people wanting a car for private use choose to buy, but many businesses prefer to lease a car or fleet. Why buy? You pay the vehicle or motorcycle loan over an agreed term and at the end of the term you own it. You then have an asset you can sell, trade-in or keep. You make your own decision on servicing and maintenance. Payment terms are flexible. Why lease? No deposit is required. Monthly payments are fixed - making it easy for budgeting and administration. Capital can be used for other business expenses. Lease payments are tax-deductible for business vehicles (conditions apply). Businesses registered for GST can claim on the lease payments. Consumer Instalment Agreement (traditional loan) This is the most popular way to finance the purchase of a new Suzuki and is ideal for people who want to own their vehicle or motorcycle and are looking for affordable monthly loan repayments. With flexibility on the loan term (up to 60 months) and the deposit, repayments can be tailored to your requirements. The loan can also be structured with a balloon payment at the end of the term to provide even greater flexibility. Benefits Full ownership of the vehicle or motorcycle from the date of purchase. A flexible deposit. Your trade-in may also be used as the deposit or part of the deposit. Competitive interest rates and tailored repayments throughout the term of the loan. Lease A lease is a long-term rental of a vehicle for a set number of months (term) and is available to individuals and businesses. The lessee makes an advance rental payment, followed by regular fixed monthly payments. At the end of the lease term there is an agreed residual value which can be tailored to manage your monthly rental payments. The major advantage of a lease is that it makes budgeting easy as it can be set up with your specific cash flow requirements in mind and it may also offer some users significant tax benefits. Terms range from 12 to 45 months for cars, and 12 to 60 months for commercial vehicles like utes, work vans and other business vehicles. Benefits The advance rental payment, fixed monthly payments and residual value can all be tailored to suit your cash flow requirements. Cash flow advantages fixed and known monthly costs. Monthly payments are based on the GST exclusive cost of the vehicle. Other lines of credit are unaffected as this is a standalone arrangement. There is no initial capital outlay, freeing up capital for other business requirements. GST may be able to be claimed on the monthly rental payments as they are paid. Business Customers The term of the contract may determine the accounting and tax treatment of the lease. Lease term 45 months or less The monthly rental payments may be tax deductible as an operating expense. The vehicle is regarded as off balance sheet. Operating Lease An operating lease is a long-term rental of a vehicle for a set number of months (term) and is ideal for business fleet situations or where employees have the choice of their company vehicle i.e. you choose situations. The lease company owns the car and the lessee makes monthly rental payments for the use of that vehicle for a specified term (up to 45 months) and number of kilometres. At the end of the lease term the vehicle is returned to the lease company and the residual value is the responsibility of the lease company. There are two types of operating lease. Fully maintained operating lease This lease includes the cost of fully maintaining the vehicle, such as routine maintenance and servicing, warrant-of-fitness, initial and re-registration, tyres and batteries. Benefits There is no initial capital outlay, freeing up capital for other business requirements. Lease rentals are an operating expense and are therefore tax deductible. Cash flow advantages fixed and known monthly costs. One invoice for all vehicle expenses under the fully maintained option. No residual risk or liability on resale. Suzuki Finance operating leases are provided by MARAC Finance Limited and are subject to MARAC s normal lease credit criteria. Non-maintained operating lease This lease includes the initial registration, however the costs of maintaining the vehicle are at the lessee s expense. The monthly rental payment for an operating lease is determined by: The lease term; The pre-agreed kilometres the vehicle will travel during the lease term; and The services included (a fully maintained operating lease will mean a higher rental cost). 4

If your new Suzuki is damaged in an accident, a recommended Suzuki repairer will complete the repair work, using genuine Suzuki parts. Roadservice Cover, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Complimentary accident management service. This includes pick-up and delivery, a late model courtesy car and emergency accident road-side assistance provided by Crash Brokers. Cover also includes a hire vehicle if your vehicle is stolen and reasonable cost of accommodation and travel expenses in the event of an accident*. In addition to physical loss or damage to your vehicle, you will also have third party property cover of up to $20 million and third party injury cover of up to $1 million. Should you or your spouse pass away as a result of an accident in your insured vehicle within 90 days, this policy includes a Death Benefit to help cover expenses for your family*. Your no claims bonus and excess will not be affected if you are involved in an accident that is not your fault and the at-fault party s details are supplied. This insurance product complements your vehicle s regular service intervals by offering protection against sudden and unforeseen mechanical or electrical breakdown. This policy is specifically designed for Suzuki drivers and includes benefits such as: Roadservice Cover, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Payout for repairs for any one claim can be up to the market value of the vehicle for standard vehicles or up to $10,000 for special vehicles, less the applicable 6
excess. Total claims are limited to the market value of the vehicle. Focus on genuine parts. Preventative repairs to the covered parts which are not damaged, but which are considered prudent to replace as part of an approved claim. Visual/communication systems, seats and associated mechanisms (excluding heated seat panels) are also covered. Additional benefits of this policy include the cost of travel, as well as accommodation expenses incurred while relocating your vehicle to Suzuki or the nearest approved Service Centre*. Current statistics indicate that the risk of your vehicle being stolen or involved in a road accident is now greater than ever before. In order to cater for the value of your Suzuki, cover of $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000 is available. Claims example (illustrative purposes only): Amount to settle credit $25,000 Shortfall $10,000 Gross settlement amount agreed with the vehicle insurer $15,000 Payout includes: $10,000 Shortfall (as in the example above). $3,500 Additional benefits (where option taken), made up of: - Rental vehicle. - On-road costs for a replacement vehicle (registration, fuel, delivery). - Insurance premium for a replacement vehicle. - Excess for total loss of the vehicle. Total claim = $13,500 Lifestyle Protection Insurance Suzuki Insurance understands how important the ability to maintain your lifestyle is. Lifestyle Protection Insurance covers you should you have to stop work because of illness, an accident or redundancy. You can choose your desired level of monthly benefit (the amount paid should you need to claim). Lifestyle Protection Insurance covers: Life Cover: Should you pass away we will cover you by paying the monthly benefit multiplied by the months outstanding on your policy. Accidental Death: Once your policy has run for more than three months we will pay ten times the monthly benefit should you pass away as a result of an accident. 7
Terminal Illness: Pays the total of the agreed monthly benefit on a daily basis from the date of diagnosis to the expiry of the period of insurance. Disablement: Pays the agreed monthly benefit calculated on a daily basis (after a 14 day stand down period) up to $100,000 until you return to work or until the expiry of the period of insurance (whichever occurs first). Redundancy: Pays the agreed monthly benefit calculated on a daily basis (after a 30 day stand down period) for 180 days up to $100,000 or until you return to work or until the expiry of the period of insurance (whichever occurs first). Bankruptcy: Pays the agreed monthly benefit calculated on a daily basis (after a 30 day stand down period) for 180 days up to $100,000 or until you return to work or until the expiry of the period of insurance (whichever occurs first) for involuntary bankruptcy only. Hospitalisation: Pays the agreed monthly benefit calculated on a daily basis (after a 2 day stand down period) up to $100,000 or until you are no longer hospitalised or until the expiry of the period of insurance. Limit of Liability: Up to $100,000. Used car service requirements All servicing should be carried out by a Suzuki Authorised Service Centre in accordance with the manufacturer s specifications and within the service interval specified by Suzuki New Zealand. A copy of the service records and all service invoices will be required in the event of a claim.
