Healing Ministry Program Requirements CERTIFICATE PROGRAM Individuals who already hold credentials in pastoral or other types of counseling ministry or those currently enrolled in accredited counseling or social work programs at the Master s level are invited to pursue a Certificate in Healing Ministry as an effective way to integrate a strong faith-based perspective to their practice. The Certificate Program is only open to these qualified counseling professionals. MASTER S DEGREE PROGRAM A Master s Degree in Healing Ministry from the Athens School of Ministry & Worship Arts is intended to focus students on their own spiritual formation in order that they may serve as God s instrument for bringing healing to others. The program provides a strong background in counseling theory and practice as well as extended experience in clinical settings. The program integrates clinical practice with counseling theory, biblical truth, and personal spiritual formation. The first year of the program focuses on individual counseling therapy, the second year focuses on couples, families, and groups. Students are required to engage in their own personal therapy while enrolled in the program. At the culmination of the program, students will be equipped to serve as Ministers of Pastoral Care and Counseling. Transfer credits are subject to approval by ASM&WA Office of Admissions. Students select practicum and internship sites based on their clinical interests and faculty approval (faith-based counseling centers, churches, urban and rural hospital settings, hospices, nursing homes, social service agencies, and prisons).
