Course Descriptions 11g Introduction to SQL In this course students learn the concepts of relational databases. This course provides the essential SQL skills that allow developers to write queries against single and multiple tables, manipulate data in tables, and create database objects. Students learn to control privileges at the object and system level. This course covers creating indexes and constraints, and altering existing schema objects. Students also learn how to create and query external tables. Students learn to use the advanced features of SQL in order to query and manipulate data within the database, use the dictionary views to retrieve metadata and create reports about their schema objects. Students also learn some of the date-time functions available in the Oracle Database. This course discusses how to use the regular expression support in SQL. This course is a combination of Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals I and Oracle Database 11g: SQL Fundamentals II courses. In this course, students use Oracle SQL Developer as the main development tool. SQL*Plus is available as an optional development tool. This is appropriate for a 10g audience too. There are few minor changes between 10g and 11g features. Create reports of sorted and restricted data Run data manipulation statements (DML) to update data Control database access to specific objects Manage schema objects Manage objects with data dictionary views Retrieve row and column data from tables Audience Developer Application Developers PL/SQL Developer Forms Developer System Analysts Business Analysts Data Warehouse Administrator Familiarity with data processing concepts and techniques Data processing

11g DB Administration Workshop I This course is your first step towards success as an Oracle professional, designed to give you a firm foundation in basic database administration. In this class, you'll learn how to install and maintain an Oracle database. You will gain a conceptual understanding of the Oracle database architecture and how its components work and interact with one another. You will also learn how to create an operational database and properly manage the various structures in an effective and efficient manner including performance monitoring, database security, user management, and backup/recovery techniques. The lesson topics are reinforced with structured hands-on practices. This course is designed to prepare you for the corresponding Oracle Certified Associate exam. This includes how to define and test your own backup and recovery scenarios. Also, the DBA learns how to manage memory effectively and how to perform some performance evaluation and tuning tasks, including using some of the advisors. All types of flashback technologies, scheduling jobs inside and outside of the database, and controlling system resource usage are also covered. Automate DBA tasks with the Scheduler Diagnose and repair data failures with Flashback technology Manage space to optimize database storage and to be able to respond to growing space requirements Monitor and manage major database components, including as memory, performance, and resources Secure the availability of your database by appropriate backup and recovery strategies Audience: Database Administrators Technical Administrator Support Engineer Technical Consultant Oracle Database 11g Database Administration Oracle Database 11g: Administration Workshop I Release 2
