Slide 4: What is a Target-Date Fund? A target-date fund is a single mutual fund that is broadly diversified across a mix of other stock, bond and money market mutual funds. The target date in the fund s name represents the approximate date you expect to start withdrawing your money for retirement. The principle value of the investment is not guaranteed at any time, including at the target date. An experienced portfolio team carefully selects the mix of mutual funds within the target-date fund. Slide 5: What is a Target-Date Fund? Over time, the team automatically adjusts the mix of investments in the target-date fund, aiming more towards growth for younger investors and more towards preservation and income for investors getting closer to retirement. Each target-date One Choice portfolio seeks the highest total return consistent with its asset mix. In general, as the target year approaches, the portfolio s allocation becomes more conservative by decreasing the allocation to stocks and increasing the allocation to bonds and money market instruments. Transition: Now that you re familiar with how a targetdate fund works, let s explore some of the attributes of One Choice Target Date Portfolios. Over time, the asset mix and weightings are adjusted to be more conservative. Slide 6: Why Invest in One Choice Target Date Portfolios It s important to note that target-date mutual funds do not guarantee a return or a steady retirement income stream. There s always the potential for capital loss as well as gain. One Choice Target Date Portfolios aim to provide a convenient and comprehensive retirement solution in one mutual fund. A One Choice portfolio can help you navigate your path to retirement with one straightforward investment. You ll simplify your decision process: you ll need to research only one fund, make one initial investment decision and monitor one fund over time. The American Century Investments portfolio team has carefully selected the mix of mutual funds in each One Choice portfolio and will monitor and adjust the investments over time based on their extensive market experience and in-depth research. An investment in a One Choice portfolio may help you combat volatility, the inevitable ups and downs of the market. Each One Choice portfolio invests in up to 15 mutual funds that are managed to respond differently to market conditions. This broad diversification may give you exposure to the stronger performing asset classes while reducing the effect of downturns in others. This may help balance the volatility of the portfolio. With One Choice portfolios, you re putting your money in the hands of an experienced team of investment professionals who actively invest the asset in the portfolio. American Century Investments has managed asset allocation funds since 1988. They oversee asset allocation strategies that investors use to prepare for retirement, save for college and pursue other major financial goals. These managers also benefit from the resources of a company with a track record that spans more than 50 years. Finally, One Choice Target Date Portfolios do not invest in tobacco companies. This feature is one of the many ways American Century Investments helps the global fight against cancer. Transition: Now that we ve reviewed the attributes of One Choice portfolios, here are a few considerations to help you determine whether or not this target-date fund is right for you. Why invest in One Choice Target Date Portfolios? A convenient, comprehensive retirement solution in one mutual fund that may help you: N Navigate your path to retirement. Combat volatility through diversification. Actively invest with professionals. Diversification does not assure a profit nor does it protect against loss of principal. Slide 8: Who Should Consider a Target-Date Fund? Investing can be a time-intensive and technical process. When thinking about how you prefer to invest, here are some important questions to consider: Do you prefer to conduct your own research on individual stock, bond, money market and alternative funds? Do you feel confident selecting the funds that are right for your retirement portfolio and determining how much to invest in each fund? Do you enjoy closely following the markets? Do you have the time and expertise to closely monitor your retirement portfolio and make adjustments over time? If you answered yes to most of these questions, you re probably a do it yourself investor. However, if you would feel more confident with an investment professional building and monitoring your retirement nest egg, a target-date fund, like a One Choice portfolio, may be an excellent option to help you meet your goals. Slide 11: Disclosures Disclosures Before investing, carefully consider the fund s investment objectives, risks, charges and expenses. The fund s prospectus or summary prospectus, which can be obtained by visiting americancentury.com, contains this and other information about the fund, and should be read carefully before investing. Call 1-800-345-6488 for a prospectus or summary prospectus containing this and other information. Read it carefully. The performance of the portfolios is dependent on the performance of their underlying American Century Investments funds and will assume the risks associated with these funds. The risks will vary according to each portfolio s asset allocation, and a fund with a later target date is expected to be more volatile than one with an earlier target date. The underlying funds do not invest in certain tobacco-related securities. As a result, an underlying fund may forego a profitable investment opportunity or sell a security when it may be a disadvantage to do so. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. Investment return and fund share value will fluctuate and it is possible to lose money by investing in these funds. 2015 American Century Proprietary Holdings, Inc. All rights reserved.
