WELLS FARGO BUSINESS INSIGHT SERIES VIDEO TITLE: How to accept online payments MODERATOR: Robb Boyd, Cisco EXPERT: Debra Rossi, Wells Fargo Merchant Payment Solutions VIDEO DESCRIPTION: Hear about fast, low-cost ways you can add secure payment functionality to your website. RECORDING DATE: August 1, 2007 [Music plays.] ROBB So Debra, how can businesses make online purchases simpler for their customers? DEBRA Great question, Robb. We hear a lot from business customers that they are looking for solutions that are easy, fast, low-cost and you mentioned before, secure. Absolutely secure because you re actually moving money. So we find that customers are looking to make the interface with shopping online easy and the same experience that you would have in the physical space.

What kind of things do you need to look at to start doing that? Well, to get started you re going to need a merchant account. Typically, you can get that at a bank, a merchant account. Because that s how you move the money. You need a payment gateway and you need a shopping cart. Now all of those can be easily found, right online, Google or anybody. Those are actually simple solutions to get you started. What does a business owner need to do to start accepting payments online? Okay. I mentioned before you need the gateway. Okay. You need a shopping cart. You need Now [Simulates pushing of shopping cart] okay.

Yeah. Sort of. Just the same thing. Same concept? Alright. Same thing and actually you ve seen even the icon of a shopping cart on many sites that you ve been shopping at. JAMES GASKIN: Do the wheels wobble when you go down the aisles? Well, they might. They absolutely might. You need a merchant account. You need to be able to and the purpose of that is you need to be able to accept payments. You need to be able to. You can t use cash online. No, it doesn t work well. To be in business, you re going to have to accept credit card and debit card payments. And to be able to do that, we re back to making sure that there s

security. The payment gateway must be certified to be secure to move money. Your merchant account is going to be integral in moving the money. And then you re going to make sure that you re working with somebody that s an adviser on making sure that you can put all of this together nicely and to be able to, you know, engage commerce online. And I assume you find those people in the same place you get your payment gateway and your shopping cart? Because those are jumping out at me as some of those key items that people should probably be jotting down. Absolutely. Okay. That s good information. [Music plays.] [End of recording.] VIDEO LINK: https://wellsfargobusinessinsights.com/businessmanagement/customer-service/how-accept-online-payments
