Both the men and women set school records for # of points scored at the Indoor Conference Championship meets(the men scored 153 while the women had 181.5). The Green Knight men and women also did damage to the school record board, breaking 9 different school records this season(4 on the men s side and 5 on the women s side!) In addition to all of those accolades, the SNC men and women also sent the largest contingent to the NCAA Championship meet in school history. Individually, senior Taylor Pasterski(Green Bay, WI./Preble H.S.), and sophomore Brittany Kozlowski(New Berlin, WI/New Berlin West H.S.) qualified in the 400m dash and the 800m run respectively. The two of them also ran legs on two relay teams that qualified for Nationals. The Mens 4x400m relay(taylor Pasterski, Austin Livingston(Kimberly, WI./Kimberly H.S.), Ryan Grandlic(Glenbeulah, WI/St. Mary Springs H.S.) and Tyler Lewis(Antigo, WI./Antigo H.S.) The Womens distance medley relay(erin Artz(Omaha, NE./Mercy H.S.), Clarissa Jauregui(Fish Creek, WI./Gibraltar H.S.), Lisa Baeten(New Franken, WI/Luxemburg-Casco H.S.) and Brittany Kozlowski). The Green Knights 4x400-meter relay earned All-America honors at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championship with their performances at JDL Fast Track. This was the first time since 2003 that St. Norbert had a relay team earn the distinction of All-Americans. The squad of Pasterski, Livingston, Grandlic and Lewis turned in a sixth-place finish with a new SNC school record time of 3:18.44 to obtain All-America status. The SNC men came into the meet seeded 9th after a 5 second PR at the UW Stevens Point Last Chance Meet on March 7th. At that meet, the Green Knights raced to a time of 3:18.50 to erase the former school record of 3:19.07(a record that was held by a team with two former SNC National Champions in Ben Dreyer and Colin McKean as well as Jesse Augustine and Chad Fairchild). The Green Knights four team points placed them in a tie for 45th place at the meet.
SNC ALL-AMERICANS Brittany Kozlowski prepares for the Finals of the 800m Run Taylor Pasterski races out of lane 5 in the prelims of the 400m dash Taylor Pasterski, a Senior, and sophomore Brittany Kozlowski represented St. Norbert at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Meet held at JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, N.C. This was the first Indoor National meet for both athletes and they took advantage of the opportunity by earning their first All-American citations! Their performances helped the SNC men s and women s team finish ranked Nationally at the same indoor meet for the first time since 2009! Heading into the Championships, Pasterski was seeded 8th overall and Kozlowski was ranked outside of the top 10. Both athletes had strong showings in their preliminary heats and earned spots in their respective finals(pasterski in the 400m dash and Kozlowski in the 800m run). Kozlowski picked up All-America honors with a seventh-place finish in the 800-meter run. Kozlowski s time of 2:13.22 in the preliminaries was nearly a 2 second PR and sent her into the finals as the 7th seed. Kozlowski who came into the Championships ranked 14th of 17 competitors held that 7th spot in the Finals and became the third different SNC female to earn All-American honors in the 800m run in the past 6 years! Pasterski earned All-America status in the 400m dash for the first time ever. He was a qualifier at the outdoor National meet in 2014, but did not advance to Finals. Pasterski had the opportunity to graduate early, but opted to return for his last year of eligibility. Coming into the season, Pasterski had never broken 50 seconds during the indoor season. This year he was sub 50 every time he raced the event and had a season best time of 49.00. Pasterski was ranked 7th out of 15 competitors heading into the Championships. In the preliminary round Pasterski drew the fourth heat, got boxed in and edged a runner from UW-Whitewater at the tape by.04. That was the difference between making finals and heading home early. On day two, Pasterski finished with a time of 49.48 seconds and climbed the podium at the National meet for the first time of the afternoon. With the outdoor season still to come, Pasterski has a chance to become only the fourth SNC male track & field athlete to earn All-American status on 3 different occasions joining Ben Dreyer, Colin McKean and Dann Schneider.
KNIGHTS AT NATIONALS Erin Artz, Clarissa Jauregui, Lisa Baeten, Brittany Kozlowski For the first time in school history the Green Knight women qualified a distance medley relay team to the NCAA Division III National Championships. The quartet of Artz, Jauregui, Baeten and Kozlowski entered the NCAA meet with the 12th fastest qualifying time out of 12 teams. The SNC women were able to qualify for the Championships when they ran a time of 12:00.17 at the UW Oshkosh Invitational on February 21st. This time established a new school record in the event! The previous school record of 12:03.55 was held by two former SNC National Champions and a nine time All- American, so it was quite the achievement to better that mark! At Nationals, the SNC women equaled their seed and placed 12th in the Country. Not bad when you consider that this group consists of a freshman and three sophomores. The future is definitely bright and the ladies are already setting their sites on being the first team to break 12 minutes in the event in 2016! The four ladies above have much to be proud of as they accumulated 64 of the 180.5 points that the SNC women scored at the Midwest Conference Championships meet. Those points were critical in helping the Green Knights win their first Conference Championship since 1991. The 2015 track season will also be remembered as the year that SNC sent their largest group to the National Championships ever!
