Customers may extend the Standard Limited Hardware Warranty coverage for one or more years by purchasing an Extended Warranty Option. Trimble offers two different types of Extended Warranty options: Firmware/Software maintenance only and Hardware warranty plus Firmware/Software maintenance. The full Extended Warranty Option extends the standard warranty period of the product to protect against defects in materials and workmanship and includes also firmware/software maintenance. Trimble will replace or repair, at its sole discretion, part of the serialized components that prove to be defective. Specifically, a customer may return defective products to Allen Instruments. Allen Instruments is a certified Trimble service center. Note: during the warranty period, the customer must cover the cost of shipping the product to the service center or authorized service provider. Trimble will pay for returning the product to the customer. Allen Instruments / Trimble, will repair the defective product and return it to the customer. The cost of labor, replacement parts, and return shipping charges are covered under the Extended Warranty Option. Allen Instruments / Trimble, reserves the right to use either new, or warranted as new, replacement parts to repair the defective product. It is recommended to purchase The Extended Warranty Option before the Standard Limited Hardware Warranty expires, or before the previous Extended Warranty Option expires. If the purchased later, the instrument must have an inspection before the renewal of the (Full) Extended Warranty. This inspection must be done by Trimble / Allen Instruments. The successful inspection certifies that the equipment is in serviceable condition. The customer must pay an associated charge for this inspection as well as all shipping charges associated with the inspection. If the product is not serviceable, Trimble / Allen Instruments service personnel will notify the customer and quote to restore the product to serviceable condition. There is no need to purchase Extended Warranty Options backwards.
