Questions Related to MEM Curriculum and Format Q: What is the difference between MEM and MBA? A: MBA addresses general business and administration foundations, while MEM focuses on management and administration within engineering and technology organizations. For instance, the finance, accounting and marketing courses in MEM utilize engineering and technical examples and case studies while those in MBA are more general. Additionally, MEM offers unique courses on the principles of technical project management, and manufacturing strategy. Q: How many courses do I have to complete to earn the MEM Degree? A: 9 courses during 6 semesters of flexible enrollment. Q: What is the course schedule for MEM? A: The following is the course schedule for the 2-year MEM program. Q: How long does the program take to complete? A: Normal duration of completion for the MEM program is 6 semesters (24 months). Q: How many courses need to be taken during each semester? A: 2 courses per semester during the first 4 semesters, and one capstone project course during the last two semesters. Q: When are the classes? A: All classes will be held on Friday evenings (6:30-9:00pm) and Saturdays (8:30am-6:00pm). Classes are every second week. Q: How many courses are mandatory? A: 6 courses are mandatory to introduce basic management and business administration foundations within engineering and technical context. Q: What GPA is required to graduate? A: Students must obtain a pass in all courses credited to the program, with a minimum overall average of 70%. A grade of less than 70% in any course counts as a failure. Q: What are the focus areas for the MEM program? A: While everyone in the program acquires core competencies in applied finance, administration, market research, engineering design and product management, the elective courses and the capstone project allow students to focus their degree in one of the following practical areas: Manufacturing Strategy Operations Management Project Management Supply Chain management Entrepreneurship & Innovation Q: What is the Capstone Project about? A: After passing all courses, students work on a 2-semester engineering management capstone project that relates to their area of focus. Projects can be in collaboration with local industry partners. Students interested in starting their own company can utilize the capstone project to develop a business and commercialization plan. Page 2 of 5

Q: What is the required admission average? Questions Related to Admission A: Minimum admission GPA must be the North American equivalent of 70%. Students with substantial work experience may be admitted with lower GPA on probationary basis. Q: Is the English language requirement strict? A: Yes. Non-native English language speakers need to demonstrate English proficiency with IELTS: 7.0 / ibt TOEFL: 100 scores. Q: Are GMAT and GRE tests required for admission to MEM? A: No. Q: What undergraduate degrees are accepted for MEM admission? A: Any degree in engineering or related discipline from a recognized institution (including computer science, applied technical degrees and engineering degrees). Q: Are official transcripts required from previous institutions? A: Yes. When applying to the MEM online, candidates are required to upload official transcripts from all previous institutions. Q: When does the MEM program start? A: Currently, MEM admission is for fall only. In the future, there will be cohorts starting in winter and summer as well. Q: What are the application deadlines for fall entry? June 1 for all domestic and international students. Q: What are the documents required to apply for MEM? The following documents are submitted online: 1. All transcripts from previous institutions. 2. All official test scores for English proficiency (if required) 3. Statement of interest (maximum 500 word essay explaining how you think MEM can help you achieve your career and professional goals, and why did you choose the University of Windsor) 4. Two confidential reference letters (at least one letter should come from an academic referee, if you have been outside school for a long time, letters from non-academic referees can be accepted) 5. Q: How do applicants submit the required documents for admission? A: All documents are submitted digitally online with the following steps: STEP 1: Preliminary Application on OUCA Click on the Apply Now link at: http://www.uwindsor.ca/mem Select the program and proceed to the Ontario Universities Application Center (OUAC) Complete all required information on the OUAC panel. There is no need to provide referee information or copies of the required documents on the OUAC After paying for applications fees on OUCA submit your application STEP 2: myuwindsor ID Activation If you do not already have a myuwindsor ID, you will receive an e-mail confirmation with student number and personal access code upon completing STEP 1. Use the provided student number and personal access code to activate your myuwindsor account at: https://my.uwindsor.ca/web/uw/activate-account The account activation may take up to 2 hours, and once complete, you will receive a notification with myuwindsor username and password (different from above mentioned student number and personal access code) STEP 3: MEM egas Application Log into egas at www.uwindsor.ca/egas with your activated myuwindsor username and password Once on egas, you may upload your CV, statement of interest, transcripts and English proficiency test scores (if applicable) on the Applicant Documents tab On the Referee Information tab, you may insert contact information for your chosen referees. Referees will then receive an e-mail with confidential form which they can complete and send to us directly. The status of each referee will change to Completed once your referees fill the forms. You may need to contact your referees individually to remind them No documents or referee forms need to be submitted by mail. Q: How much are the tuition fees for MEM? Other Questions A: Base tuitions fees are currently pending board-approval. Fees are estimated to be approximately $2,700 per semester for domestic students and $6,500 per semester for international students. Q: Can students work full-time while enrolling in MEM? A: Yes. This program is designed to accommodate the needs of working professionals. All classes are scheduled during Friday evenings and Saturdays. However, international students may need special arrangements to work full-time in Canada. Q: Is MEM considered full-time? A: Yes. Although classes are delivered during weekends, MEM is considered full-time and admitted international students may obtain student VISA. Page 5 of 5
