Intelligent Management, Centralized Operation & Maintenance Huawei Data Center Network Management Solution
A data center is an integrated IT application environment where a large amount of aggregated data is processed. The data center is the center of data calculation, network transmission, and storage, which integrates a range of software and hardware resources, and key service systems. Data centers typically have diversified environments that integrate different types of services. Network management requirements are complex: Infrastructure: Data center management tools must be integrated. A single platform should manage routers, switches, security devices, storage devices, and servers. This platform must provide a virtualized management interface for the data center. Technology development: After being standardized, the data center must be automated. Logical and virtual IP resources such as device configurations, software, VLAN, VPN, ACL, and QoS must be managed in a centralized manner. Upper-layer services: The most important task of a data center is computing, so the key computing components such as database, server, middleware, and web server must operate normally. Data center hardware and software resources can be optimized based on system performance and service traffic volume. Operation and maintenance: Proper IT service processes and service quality guarantees ensure provision of all data center services. A data center integrates IP and IT technologies. The data center network must be able to provide services for users and network optimization based on user requirements. A new management model and flexible architecture are needed to manage a data center. This model must encompass infrastructure, technology development, service provisioning, and operation and maintenance. Huawei, a leading provider of network solutions, has years of experience studying data center network management solutions. Huawei can provide intelligent, centralized data center network management solutions for customers. 1 Huawei Data Center Network Management Solution

Intelligent Management 1. Fault Management A comprehensive network management system helps customers monitor the network for faults and, when a fault does occur, it provides information on possible causes and fault location. The network management system has the following features: Provides alarms for all types of faults, including IP, IT, and service faults. Provides 24/7 fault monitoring, real-time fault notification, and remote fault notification. Switches between fault, topology, and device panel views quickly on the graphical interface. Categorizes and suppresses alarms to reduce the number of alarms displayed on the graphical interface. 2. Configuration Management The intelligent configuration tool delivers configurations based on profiles and planning tables to network devices and verifies commands. Configurations are delivered in batches to help customers efficiently deploy services. This tool has the following features: Smart configuration tool: Pre-defined service configuration profiles are used. Users can choose a profile to configure network devices. The planning table lists configuration differences between devices. Configuration file management: Configuration files for multiple devices can be backed up, compared, and restored. The backup function includes on demand backup, periodic backup, and backup triggered by device configuration changes. Adaptive configuration audit: Device configurations and health status can be checked on demand or periodically. The tool can automatically adapt to equipment from different vendors, device types, and versions. Audit results can be displayed based on subnets, devices, or rules. Customized system portal and device portal pages: Users can customize portal pages to acquire specific information. Adding devices: SNMP devices can be added to the network management system by adding device IP addresses, IP network segments, or importing a device list. 3. Intelligent Association MPLS VPN service management can be associated with SLA management components, reports, and performance: System performance can be displayed based on services. For example, users can display inbound interface traffic statistics/vrf traffic statistics/vrf active routes of the top 5 or 10 services. A detailed traffic flow diagram can be displayed. 3 Huawei Data Center Network Management Solution
The quality of services on PE-CE and PE-PE links can be evaluated based on ICMP echo. Interface traffic statistics and service VRF statistics can be provided in reports. Users can export these reports. 4. Report Management esight provides a range of predefined reports and an easy-to-use report design function that lets users create customized reports based on industry features and O&M requirements. IP&IT Management esight is an intelligent network management system that manages network devices, servers, and application systems in data centers. It helps to reduce network construction costs and improve O&M efficiency. esight s open platform allows in-depth integration and cooperation with IT market leaders like IBM, HP, and Oracle. esight can manage devices from multiple vendors and multi-resource devices. The IP&IT management functions include: Comprehensive device management: In addition to Huawei routers, switches, AR, security devices, and WLAN devices, esight can manage devices from major vendors such as HP(H3C) and Cisco. It can also manage IT resources such as servers and printers. Third-party device customization: esight allows users to define vendor names, device types, panel styles, performance presentations, and alarms for third-party devices. Various open interfaces: esight provides APIs to integrate with third-party devices. The northbound interfaces connect to the upper-layer OSS. This interconnection mode allows esight to connect to the virtual platforms of major vendors. Third-party devices can be managed on the graphical interface provided by esight. Network element adaptation package: esight can easily match different devices. Visual Management esight provides diagrams and tables to help users understand network status and quality in multiple dimensions. esight provides network topologies and service views to facilitate service deployments and network configurations. The visual management functions include: Topology management: esight provides the physical topology and IP topology view, which graphically display network devices at different layers. It also shows sub-maps, network elements, links, and network elements status. Performance management: esight provides various performance indexes that users can use to monitor network quality in multiple dimensions. The performance monitoring view is updated periodically. Different charts display different performance indexes and historical data analysis. Performance reports of third-party devices can be customized. Graphical NetStream analysis: Switches and routers provide the NetStream function to monitor service distribution in real time. esight lets users obtain graphical NetStream analysis reports and easily work out service plans. Service-oriented visual SLA: The pre-defined SLA contains NQA parameters. esight can use multiple protocols to collect, analyze, and measure NQA data on Huawei and devices from mainstream vendors. esight supports customized SLA to monitor network and service quality. Virtual Resource Management 1. Centralized Management esight uses the SOAP protocol to detect and manage these virtual resources: TOR, virtual servers, virtual switches, virtual machine, and GuestOS, status, memory usage and CPU usage on the virtual machine. esight can manage policy profiles, including security policy, traffic policy, virtual NIC binding policy, VLAN, QoS, and ACL. 5 Huawei Data Center Network Management Solution
2. Integrated Virtual Topology and Network Topology Use LLDP to discover network topology. Use SOAP interfaces to discover virtual topology. Receive alarms from TOR switches, and associate server interfaces with switch interfaces. Map network topology and virtual topology to form an integrated topology view. 3. Automatic Awareness of Virtual Machine Migration Server vcenter Virtual device management center VM VM VM Virtual Switch Hardware NIC Distribute resource Collect information VDP Configure VM service Collect network information DC Network Network administrator Network resource distribution ncenter Network resource distribution center As a centralized management tool provided by the server virtualization software vendor, the vcenter manages VMs (creation, deletion, power-on, power-off and migration) and other virtualization facilities such as virtual switches. As the "brain" of the network, the ncenter automatically collects network information (physical + virtual) and dynamically allocates predefined network resources for connected virtual machines. In this manner, network administrators can focus on VM service configurations. Configuring services on network devices will be automatically completed by the ncenter when it detects VMs' demands. This not only enhances the efficiency of service deployment but also reduces device management complexity and configuration errors. ncenter provides the following functions: Migrates network policies along with the virtual machine migration. Manages P (physical) and V (virtual) networks. Discovers E2E network topology automatically. Decouples virtualization software from the network. Shields network configuration details. Uses modular design for flexible service deployments. Huawei Data Center Network Management Solution 6
