Managing the Document Life Cycle Whether you call it document management, document management system (DMS), enterprise content management (ECM), content management, or knowledge management, it often all comes down to the same thing: a solution focused on controlling document files and easing accessibility to file contents. A similar study undertaken by the Gartner Group found that knowledge workers spend about eight hours a week on manual document management tasks.
