ARTICULATION AGREEMENT INTRODUCTION This Articulation Agreement has been developed by Mount Saint Mary s University and San Diego Mesa College. Its purpose is to help the prospective Mount Saint Mary's student plan a course of study that will facilitate a more effective transfer into Mount Saint Mary s University. Mount Saint Mary s University accepts a maximum of 70 transferable community college units that may be applied toward the units required for a baccalaureate degree. This Agreement contains three sections: Section I - lists relevant information about MSMU General Studies Requirements. The General Studies requirements at MSMU include five areas: Communication Skills; Critical Thinking; Arts & Sciences; Modern Language, and Religious Studies and Philosophy. Listed under each area are equivalent courses offered at San Diego Mesa College. Section II - lists lower division courses within six major areas selected by MSMU Admission and Advisement offices for Articulation due to their complexity. These six majors are Biological Sciences with emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy, Business, Child Development, English, Nursing, and Social Work. Section III- lists lower division courses within the Liberal Studies major, selected by the Education Department for articulation. Students interested in a Liberal Studies major should disregard section I and II. Please refer to the MSMU Catalog or contact a Transfer Admission Counselor in the Admission Office at MSMU for a complete list of required lower-division courses for majors not listed in this Agreement.

The Mount Saint Mary s University Elementary Teacher Preparation Program is a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing-approved program for the preparation of students for the Preliminary Multiple Subject Teaching Credential as defined by SB 2042. Students considering transferring to Mount Saint Mary s University are encouraged to retain copies of syllabi and course assignments. A Liberal Studies Portfolio documenting the study of each of the above listed subject areas is required for the major. Transfer students are encouraged to obtain a passing score on the CBEST (California Basic Education Skills Test) and to take CSET (California Subject Examination for Teachers). According to current state and federal legislation and regulations, passing scores on the three sections of the CSET must be attained before supervised teaching. A passing score on CBEST at entry to Mount Saint Mary s University is required for students intending to apply for supervised teaching in the eighth semester of college study (or the fourth semester of study at MSMU). Other MSMU Education Department requirements must also be met before enrolling in supervised teaching. Contact the Liberal Studies Coordinator for additional information, 213-477-2628. California Credential requirements are subject to change pending direction from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CCTC). These changes take precedence over the MSMU catalog, as well as any other MSMU information.
