University of South Florida Muma College of Business Bachelor of Science in BUSINESS ANALYTICS & INFORMATION SYSTEMS Degree Overview The Business Analytics and Information Systems major prepares students with the skills and knowledge necessary to enter the rapidly changing world of business. The degree offers a unique blend of data, technology and business. The program focuses on analytics and creativity, by including analytics and business intelligence as an integral part of the curriculum. Students are equipped with specific tools to develop, implement, manage resources and analyze data. This is a Muma College of Business degree very different from other computer-related programs. It gives students a strong foundation in business while preparing them for a variety of positions in business analytics and information systems. Potential positions after graduation include data analyst, business intelligence analyst, business analyst, consultant, systems analyst, database administrator, project manager or other business analytics and technology management roles.

USF partnered with JPMorgan Chase and offered a practice center internship that allowed me to work at the company for 16 weeks. During my internship, I created an application that is still being used at the company today, and I presented my project in front of a JPMorgan Chase board, including an executive director. Kayde Ford, Analyst, JPMorgan Chase Degree and department HIGHLIGHTS USF s Muma College of Business is ranked No. 25 for the information systems specialty, according to the Bloomberg Businessweek s 2013 rankings of undergraduate business schools. The Information Systems & Decision Sciences department regularly hosts events and competitions to sharpen students marketable skills, teach them to work under pressure, and provide opportunities to interact with employers. The program combines a rigorous business curriculum with information systems and business analytics courses. Practice center projects provide students opportunities for real-world industry experience with faculty supervision while earning a stipend. The department also offers on-going professional development boot camps to give students an edge above the competition during the job search. Exclusive student success specialists assist students with career development and placement. USF s Information Systems and Decision Sciences department consistently ranks in the top 30 nationally for frequency of publications in the industry s top academic journals. USF offers study abroad opportunities for students. The experience helps them understand how business differs from nation to nation and helps them learn how to adapt and succeed in a changing business world. USF offers an integrated bachelor and master program. Eligible students can complete the BS and the MS in five years.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES 89% of business leaders believe big data will revolutionize business operations in the same way the Internet did. (Forbes May 25, 2015) POTENTIAL JOBS Business Analyst Business Intelligence Analyst Database Administrator Entrepreneur Information Security Analyst Project Manager Quality Assurance Analyst Social Media Analyst Software Engineer Systems Analyst App Developer STARTING SALARIES Typical starting salaries for undergraduate Business Analytics and Information Systems majors are in the $50,000 range. USF graduates have received job offers from companies such as Citi, Verizon, JPMorgan Chase, Raymond James, General Motors, Lockhead Martin, Deloitte, Tribridge, AT&T, Bank of America, PricewaterhouseCoopers, DTCC, WellCare and Nielsen. Business analytics and information systems are about more than data they re about context. That is what businesses seek today: data-savvy technology professionals who can provide contextual insight into modern business processes, opportunities, and challenges. The analytics skills I learned at USF helped me build a nonprofit technology startup from scratch with minimal overhead. Matthew Boyd, Founder & CEO, Simpligiiv, Inc

But I soon found many companies were interested in hiring me, which allowed me flexibility in choosing the job that best fit me. With so many offers on the table, I realized the MIS program at USF provides an education relevant and significant to a professional career in IT or business.
