Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-171 Empowerment through arts for disabled people Each organisation in this LP is involved in working with people with disabilities. They are trained in artistic workshops by trainers in order to develop and improve their personal skills. The organisations take part in a European partnership to exchange experience and good practice. More aims of our project are: inter-vision for the learners and trainers, integration/inclusion of disabled people in the European community through art, positive image-building and empowerment (personal skills and self-awareness) for disabled people. In order to ensure these objectives, we ll organise meetings with trainers and learners. Each participant will share their experience and they will learn from each other by taking part in the art-workshops organised in every country. We are seeking inspiration from the partners and hoping to obtain fresh ideas for every organisation. We also want to take into account the differences, to observe them and get new practices in each other institution. Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-162 European Mentoring and Befriending Group This hip will draw upon the extensive experience and knowledge of the to produce a European Charter of Mentoring and Befriending that will act as a framework for programmes across the EU and develop a consistent and accessible set of European materials and guidelines to support good practice throughout the EU. We recognise that mentoring and befriending involves a three-cornered learning relationship between the client, the volunteer and the co-ordinator and we will develop common principles and guidelines for setting up and improving programs of volunteer mentoring and befriending and shared opportunities for learning. (NB. The client is the person receiving the mentoring or befriending service)some of the organisations participating in this Learning hip have a broad experience in developing training materials and providing infrastructure support to new mentoring and befriending programmes as well as delivering local programs. This ensures that:- i. a definition of mentoring and befriending to provide a basis for exchange and networking across the EU will be agreed ii. the training and resources developed will focus on the issues in mentoring and befriending, iii. effective processes to engage all programmes and individuals working in the field will be developed, iv. local mentoring and befriending organisers will relate to and value the Charter and developed materials. Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-CO-165 See Who We Are Now (SWWAN) SWWAN wants to discuss, reflect on and visualise the concept culture in the broad sense of the word. Using new methodologies like ICT, film and documentary making, the end product will be a film in which a number of learners of different nationalities will express and visualise their ideas of culture and apply this to their own region, other European regions and their own world. A common (theoretical) framework to start from will be developed in the first phases of the project, while the actual filming will be done by learners of the participating organisations. As 2009 will be the European year of Creativity and Innovation we hope to contribute to the reawakening of creativity and the further development of innovative methods.
Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-179 Power of Local Community Arts European society becomes more and more unity. This is because of the globalisation and the increase of exchanges of knowledge and learning-experiences between European countries. But on the contrary Europe is still a reflection of different cultures with its own identities. Most of the time people experience these differences as a threat and feel themselves unsafe (Naland, 2006). Unsafe towards other cultures. Intercultural dialogue seems to be a solution for this problem. Community Arts is a method of learning by art with its goal to make experience and value the local culture in comparison with the other cultures (to create an intercultural dialogue). The art is a bounding means in learning-processes to develop the intercultural dialogue which increases social cohesion and participation of inhabitants. This project POLCA develops different good practices of Community Art in Europe. Every European partner starts an innovative project of Community Art in a local learning-group and describes the process of intercultural dialogue of learning by art. After analysing and describing the different practices a publication for local institutions will be made which provides a new European method of Community Art and shows the entity of Europe and its cultures during learning-processes by using art. Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-184 ReTHINK it! Plurality and Nation - Visions of Society We are living in globally connected societies, where Nation is losing relevance, but Nationalism is uprising in different ways. Because of international cooperation the national state has no longer the last authority, homogeneous nations do not exist due to migration and a multicultural population, and the social affiliation, guaranteed by the national welfare state, is threatened by consumer s individualization, precariousness and growing differences between rich and poor. Nationalism seems to give clear explanations to a complex world, an anchor to the past, a secure vision of the future and the feeling of being a part of a community. But the strong confession to a Nation often corresponds to intolerance and an anti-democratic attitude. - How is Nation thought in different regions of Europe during the last two centuries? Which visions of Nation are needed to think society as a cosmos of diversity AND to foster a common sense? How can we reinforce democracy and active participation in our local world? The participants (intercultural trainers, local target groups) will learn from each other about these items and develop their own standpoints by using methods of creativity. The results (parts of) teaching material will be presented on a common website (documentation). Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-170 Little stories, great hopes_ Autobiography as an instrument for replanning in consequence of an imprisonment experience The aim of the project is predisposing an autobiographical activity inside penitentiaries for promoting and encouraging the reconsideration of one s own past and re-planning one s future beyond the bars. In imprisonment circumstances writing has ever been a way of understanding oneself, voicing hopes and desires, acquiring awareness of passing time, reflecting on one s own past and imagining a new different life. In penitentiaries writing therefore represents a creative activity which helps to survive and pursue a space for freedom. It becomes an instrument for discovering new worlds and new ways of self-expression. Starting from this premise, the project aims to collect the experiences of those detainees who, through narrations of their own life, work, suffering and imprisonment occurrences, try and want to find new perspectives and opportunities for their future. These above-mentioned worlds, these extracts of existence will be collected and illustrated by the means of narration, epistolary correspondence, poetry, music, photography and video, among others. The results of each autobiographical workshop, which are a synthesis of all the materials produced on both paper and multimedia supports (CD Rom, video and so on), will be divulged to all the penitentiaries involved in the project and published on the web. Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-186 Exchanging and Developing Innovative Practices in Non-Formal Adult Education The partnership aims to develop, transfer and implement non-formal educational methods in adult education, especially in the training of trainers. Four adult education providers are involved in the project, all dealing with skills trainings, experiential adult learning, workshops and development of people and organisations. With the help of this project, we would like to facilitate the development of innovative practices and know-how in adult education, the transfer of training methodology from and to partner institutions, the exchange of professional experience in the training of trainers and a building of a strong international learning network. To achieve these objectives, we plan to organise multilateral and bilateral LEARN EXCHANGES, where we will conduct intercultural workshops and seminars to exchange best practices and know-how. The coordinating institution is Hungary, while Portugal, Ireland and Belgium are partner countries. To reach our aims, we have planned 4 multilateral and 6 bilateral Learn Exchanges for the 2 year period, a transnational meetings. Each partner institution will be represented by at least 2 staff members and accompanied possible; by one learner. As a result of the project, we have planned to create a joint website where methodologies and new project developments will be uploaded and shared. Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-166 Creative Approaches to Intercultural Competence As groups of learners become increasingly heterogeneous, it is important that both learners and their teachers develop intercultural competence. By this, we mean the set of skills, understandings and attitudes needed to function effectively within a multicultural setting. The CAIC project (Creative Approaches to Intercultural Competence) seeks to identify and develop innovative practical methods for enhancing the intercultural competence of our adult learners, then to disseminate this good practice widely. The partners, from a range of institutions in eight widely-spread countries, will: Work with target groups of learners to develop their intercultural competence Share experience and develop innovative pedagogical approaches to enhancing intercultural competence Learn more about each other and our diverse cultures. Although our main emphasis is on process rather than product, there are three key deliverables: 1. A web-based archive of innovative approaches to help teachers develop intercultural competence in adult learners 2. An online collection of intercultural education material and communication tolls useful to adult learners 3. A set of eight, large, framed, photographs, depicting aspects of the culture of the eight member-states involved, for exhibition in each of the partner institutions as a permanent reminder of our European friendship. Project reference: 2008/GRU-LP-PA-172 Integrating Diversity In Learning For Integration The project is a training attempt to approach diversity of learners as a positive social and pedagogic instrument for facilitating integration. Based on the hypothesis that diversity in its broader sense (culture, language, political and social status, gender, age, learning styles, etc) influences both the motives, the objectives and processes of learning, as well as the course design and trainers behaviors, the project aims at evaluating the existing practices and suggesting ways of improvement. Partner organisations will focus on their own target groups, locate the parameters which are related to learners cultural, social and educational background and research the extent to which these parameters influence the learning process. At a second stage, partners will share information, knowledge and ideas (peer training) for integrating diversity in the course through carefully designed tools and other pedagogic and social activities. Suggested tools and activities will be piloted in the course and evaluated on the basis of facilitating the learning process and supporting the learner s integration in the local community. The whole partnership process, selected new and positively evaluated tools, as well as general conclusions will be reported in digital form (DVD) for further dissemination. Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-161 Cooperating with Parents in Early Intervention This Learning hip (LP), Cooperating with Parents in Early Intervention, intends to share knowledge and practices within the field of parent-professional partnerships in Early Intervention (EI). Parents and professionals will be the adult learners and the learning will occur through seven meetings in all participating countries.. In each meeting, there will be seminars, focusing on issues related to EI that underlay the importance of building partnerships with parents. In the different countries visits to Centers and Early Intervention Services and parent participation is expected to happen. The elaboration of the website will create opportunities for professionals and parents to exchange ideas, strategies and activities related to children. During the Project, each partner will disseminate information about each meeting on their own community, according to the available resources. The reports of the meetings will be published on the website of Eurlyaid, the European Association on the Early Childhood Intervention. A project magazine Cooperating with Parents in Early Intervention will be developed in order to document information about the project. This will have a printed and electronic version translated in the official languages of the intervening countries. Project reference: 2008/GRU-LP-PA-176 Empowerment through arts for disabled people Each organisation in this LP is involved in working with people with disabilities. Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-159 Electronic Social Promotion of Intercultural Communication Expertise and Skills The purpose of the e-spices partnership is to exchange good practices in the field of intercultural communication trainings in the context of bureaucratic-institutional discourse (in Italy, Germany, Greece, Malta, Poland and Spain). These practices will also be transferred to countries outside the European Union (Turkey). In collaboration with the other members, the Belgian partner Erasmushogeschool Brussel (EhB) will work out a strategy to customise its current terminology and knowledge management tools. This will allow the partnership to implement the good practices and experiences in intercultural communication training. In particular, the partnership will elaborate best ways to involve actively trainers and trainees through a conducive learning environment based on the principles of the Let Me Learn (LML) approach (Malta) in which all involved individuals (trainers and trainees) learn from each other in a cooperative way, also through online training activities. To reach this objective, the results from other European-funded projects will be used: - SPICES - Social Promotion of Intercultural Communication Expertise and Skills; - LML - Let Me Learn; - ProSAL - Professional Administrative Support for Adult Learning; - CCT-I - Cross-cultural Training for Public Officials via the Internet in the Programme INTI; - e-inclusion policies worked out by e-isotis.
Project reference: 2008-GRU-LP-PA-181 European values, European future. What is European citizenship? What are the European values? What is understood by those? Is it something political, social, economic, cultural? Our young adults will reflect upon those subjects in their institutions and will search in their communities for the meaning of those questions. Then all the participants will make a final report taking into account all the information gathered within the institutions. Before producing this final report a DVD will be produced in each participating institution which will be later seen in all the other institutions of the partnership. Besides we intend our students to take photos reflecting the project via two main themes in their neighbourhood. That way we could offer our local community a free photo exhibition on European identity. During the first year we ll focus on the topics of European values and European citizenship and in the second year we will deal with European future and similar questions to the ones given to the Official Reflection Group (the so-called WISE MEN).Our participants are young European citizens and we consider it to be important to make them reflect on how they see Europe nowadays. This issue is under discussion once again. How do they see the future in the Europe we are building? How should this building be made?we ll all have different points of view from different countries and furthermore in countries which are in themselves full of internal differences, in Ireland, Belgium and Spain several co-official languages are spoken, Denmark has voted no in more EU related referendums, Turkey, not a member of the EU, but in the accession negotiating phase and making other member states reflect on the nature of Europe. To what extent can they all get to agreements about those values coming from so different backgrounds and living experiences? Multilaterale projecten Stimulate European Entrepreneurial Attitudes Game Entrepreneurial attitudes are a major driving force for economic and social progress. Not only at the top of businesses, but also among employees and in social and personal contexts. Different entrepreneurial attitudes are crucial for adapting to the development of society and to the changing requirements of the (labour) market. Entrepreneurship as a general attitude is therefore acknowledged as a key competence. Fostering entrepreneurial attitudes has thus also to be a main learning target of the lifelong learning processes. To educate towards "attitudes" demands however a specific didactic approach. Especially in regard to entrepreneurial attitudes with their specific motivational dimension the learner has to be addressed as a performer, someone who goes into action. The obvious approach to this is to simulate respective action. So SEE A Game wants to create a game-like learning environment in which entrepreneurial processes are simulated and the development of entrepreneurial attitudes and competences can be monitored and stimulated. The main characteristics of Entrepreneurship are the recognition and utilization of contextual opportunities. The game is foreseen to depict different ideal-typical European contexts and their specificities for entrepreneurial action. In addition to socio-economic correlations these contexts also include concepts, practices and culture-specific (e)valuations about entrepreneurship, because respective motivational forces are related to these cultural backgrounds. As a first step SEE A Game will identify key entrepreneurial competences in general and in relation to different European environments. This will function as a basis for the development of a game-concept designed to train these competences. This entrepreneurial game will be completed by a didactic manual (e.g., scaling to target groups, creative intervention of instructor, organization of feedback/reflection) and a Grundtvig-3 training course for teachers. The target groups/beneficiaries are people with entrepreneurial aspirations and in need of improving entrepreneurial attitudes, e.g. unemployed and migrants, in order to integrate better and faster into (labour) markets, society and European organizational contexts. To put the focus for all these groups on the motivational level of self-confidence and self-efficacy instead of on content oriented approaches (how to register an enterprise ) is the major innovation of SEE A Game. SEE A Game will also promote this approach amongst teachers, instructors, counsellors, etc. Name of the organisation: CVO Antwerpen-Zuid Name of the contact person: Katia Boullart Address: Distelvinklaan 22 2660 Hoboken e-mail: kboullart@cvoantwerpen.be tel: +32 3 821 06 85 website: www.cvoantwerpen.be - Training 2000--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IT - Het Gemeenschapsonderwijs ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------BE - Vidzemes Muzizglitibas Atbalsta Biedriba ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- LV - Akad Wissenschaftliche Hochschule Lahr GMBH ---------------------------------------------------------------- DE - Kristiansund Opplaeringssenter --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NO Coordinating country: Belgium EPOS VZW - GRUNDTVIG VLAANDEREN - COMPENDIUM LEERPARTNERSCHAPPEN & MULTILATERALE PROJECTEN 2008 29
WeReurope - European LLL by Intercultural Dialogue The reason for our project The expanding EU needs innovative instruments to promote social cohesion among member states. (Everyday) culture and art can serve as intermediaries for a sustainable approach to learning and for bridging cultural gaps. Can we identify a common cultural heritage on which a shared future vision of Europe can be built and can we put such findings into transferable training tools? Main activities / pedagogical strategy Using best-practice methodologies developed in EU Projects on Intercultural Learning (Grundtvig: ARTEMIS and: Museums, Keyworkers and LLL) the consortium will develop a model of Intercultural Dialogue Conferences (ICD) and disseminate it as a branded tool. ICD-conferences aim at - fostering unity in diversity addressing issues of shared and individual everyday - culture/s - bridging common history but different interpretations thereof - enhancing LLL by means of culture and art - giving EU Citizens the chance to learn together about Europe and from each other Addressing Adult Education Agencies, ICD-conferences will be delivered by a broad spectrum of further education organisations and involve experts from all 27 member states and third countries. Each ICD-conference - is embedded in consortium meeting, - will be hosted and organised by one partner, - last 3days and will follow a common basic design, but partners will set their special thematic focus and highlight its EU relevance(e.g. border conflicts/resolution, work-migration, Lisbon Treaty; graph p.38) Outputs, results and products - ICD-conference-script as tool for intercultural learning - interactive project website including wereurope - the virtual carpet of shared memories and symbols - postcards with core project message to advertise intercultural dialogue, IC-learning tools and the website - evaluation of project and products - strategy for recognition of learning outcomes - pedagogical strategies to overcome cultural gaps Impact - Collecting strategies for further education organisations from all 27 member states, - to better design low level access for their beneficiaries - adult learners: the non-formal and informal approach will help address marginalised groups by encouraging creative expression. - It will have impact on adult educators for cross-border dialogues and in cross-cultural educational work Name of the organisation: Kanaal 127 - Institut für Bildungsforschung der Wirtschaft ------------------------------------------------------------------ AT - Friedrich Schiller Universität Jena / Interkulturelle Wirtschaftskommunikation -----------------------DE - Credit Works Ltd------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UK - Znanstveno Raziskovalni Slovenske Akademije Znanosti In Umetnosti -------------------------------SK - Riksantikvareämbetet -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------SE - Associazione Arci ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IT Coordinating country: Austria EPOS VZW - GRUNDTVIG VLAANDEREN - COMPENDIUM LEERPARTNERSCHAPPEN & MULTILATERALE PROJECTEN 2008 30
International Academy of experiental Education Experiential education as a most effective method in adult education, especially for developing transversal competences (such as social, civic, cultural and intercultural competences and entrepreneurship) has been acknowledged by a number of adult education and training organizations across Europe and worldwide. It is used working with different group of learners, especially it efficient when learners are people from vulnerable social groups. The educators and trainers who guide the process of experiential education need considerable professional preparation and background knowledge. Project partners who have wide and long experience in experiential education confirms that today in the project partner s countries there is a lot of amateur experiential education cases and clear need for deeper knowledge and experience of the method that can be fulfilled by increasing adult educators access to professional training courses on quality experiential education methodology. In the communication Adult learning: It is never late to learn the Commission invites to ensure the quality of adult learning programmes: Member States must ensure that teaching methods and teaching staff are efficient and meet the needs of adult learners Quality of adult education is a Grundtvig priority too. Thus the project responds to the key policy issues. Responding to the needs and priorities the project will produce the following results: - Bases of principles and training materials for quality experiential education: overview of existing practices of adults' experiential learning in the partners countries, common principles for quality of experiential learning, training materials pack of adult quality experiential education methodology. - Channels for dissemination and exploitation of quality experiential education ideas raised within the project: internet site, course participants folder (course participants individual projects and valorisation ideas), presentations of the project results in conferencies, articles in specialised newspapers or news web pages about the project, publicity materials (posters, flyers). The products will be available in English and the national languages of the participating partners, - Lithuanian, Italian, Icelandic, German, French, Dutch, Walloon. Digital Asylum Seekers Media Education Crash Course For Parents and Grandparents The DIGITAS (Digital Asylum-Seekers Media education crash course for parents and grandparents) project arose from the need for a media education-related training action focused on trainers and teachers working with parents and older learners that is NOT confined within the protectionist paradigm and aimed at the demystification of media. DIGITAS training action assumes that - (multi)media is here to stay, - that the advance of digital technologies has contributed to the emergence of new cultural forms, that exclusively require multimodal literacies - some cultural practices of youth, born into various multimodal literacies at work in an increasingly digital mediascape, offer consistent opportunities for inter-generational and family learning. DIGITAS produces a training course to be available in the Comenius-Grundtvig Training Database and be delivered to adult education trainers and teachers. Such a course is envisaged to have an online self-directed version running on an Open Source Virtual Learning Environment. Both the online and the offline versions are supported by a handbook for trainers and a handbook for learners (available in a book format by the end of the project), and by the project website, designed from the beginning as a virtual resource centre. In the context of an ongoing consolidation of an European policy on media literacy, the impact of the project is seen to contribute to the dismantling of the protectionist paradigm, particularly in the area of parent education and learning in later life, while at the same time to draw attention on a neglected concern regarding the acquisition of soft skills in relation to the use of ICT and new/digital media Name of the organisation: Vesalius college - Asociatia Epsilon III ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RO - Polo Europeo Della Conoscenza IC Lorenzi----------------------------------------------------------------- IT - Onageb. Politics Revisited : Thinking Crudely The EuroPol Project (Politics Revisited: Thinking Crudely) intends to tackle the identified and statistically proven decline in political participation at European level. The incapacity of traditional political forums to involve and motivate people needs to be addressed in order to avoid a situation when democratic institutions lose their legitimacy. The project aims to make politics attractive and interesting by producing a set of training materials (a combination of printed manual, DVD with video scenarios, and e-politics software) directed at adults (young and old). The materials will use a combination of traditional and modern teaching approaches in order to respond to the learning styles of a variety of adults. Each one of the three training materials can be used independently, but they also form a complete package, supplementing each other. The end-users will be involved extensively in the developing of the materials through ex-ante market analysis, piloting, peer reviewing and formative and summative assessment. The materials will be available in 9 languages and they will be produced in a way that makes them user-friendly to Deaf people (that is people who use Sign Language as their preferred language). It is expected that materials will be used widely within adult education organisations and as alternative/elective materials in secondary and tertiary education institutions. In the long run it is expected that the materials will gradually increase interest in traditional politics, and that they will be mainstreamed into formal education Name of the organisation: CVO Deurne - Institutul Roman De Educatie a Adultilor ---------------------------------------------------------------------- RO - Ayuntamiento de Cuenca ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ES - Espace Pedagogie Formation France --------------------------------------------------------------------------FR - ECET European Centre for Education and Training ------------------------------------------------------BG - Consiliul Local al Copilor si Tinerilor Sibiu -------------------------------------------------------------------- RO - Regius Yhtiöt ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- FI - Alban Neve Deaf Association -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------UK - Wyzsza Szkola Humanistyczno Ekonomiczna W Lodzi ---------------------------------------------------- PL Coordinating country: Romania EPOS VZW - GRUNDTVIG VLAANDEREN - COMPENDIUM LEERPARTNERSCHAPPEN & MULTILATERALE PROJECTEN 2008 33
Active Citizen Training Network Informal, Lifelong and everyday learning is valued increasingly important in European societies. Informal learning is dependent on the life contexts of the learners and it is often individualised. This means that a standardisation in terms of contents (topics), learning objectives and envisaged outcomes (competences) is nearly impossible due to the uncountable life situations and needs of the beneficiaries. On the basis of a previous science-practice project ACT-NET will for the first time deliver a verified evaluation system for evidencing competences in informal learning contexts and transfer it to specific domains of informal learning It will consist of an approach that delivers comparable results in terms of competence development through informal learning and will provide a 2level accreditation system for informal learning projects. ACT-NET will make use of the prototype of an informal learning evaluation system and transfer the approach in a series of European exemplary projects in grass-root level and in different European collaboration projects. Here ACT-NET will evidence individual or group competences in a process orientated way in a 3-dimensional visualised cube model based on a multi-user software solution. To round up the approach a planning component for informal learning situations will be introduced. In terms of valorisation ACT-NET will extend the partnership into a fully fledged European network consisting at least partners from 15 European states. The project will provide for the first time a comparable evidencing system for informal learning outcomes especially usable for grass root projects and their beneficiaries. Therefore ACT especially addresses to nonmainstreaming, target groups like unemployed persons, disadvantaged citizens, victims of violence or handicapped persons. As special European added value ACT-NET will also validate informal learning competences of participants in collaborative projects and courses funded by the European Commission.
