ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP The Brentwood Community Foundation Academic Scholarship for $4,000 will be awarded over a four-year period to a high school graduate to attend an accredited four-year college or university. BARBARA TOLDEN BRYANT SCHOLARSHIP This one-time $1,000 scholarship award will be given to a student who plans to pursue a Bachelor of science degree. 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale. LIONEL THOMPSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships will be awarded in this category. The first is a one-time $1,250 award given to a student to pursue a degree in an area related to information systems and/or computer sciences. The second one-time award for $1,250 will be given to a student who is currently enrolled in an accredited university which offers an engineering program. 2.75 GPA on a 4.0 scale. LAMAR FRAZIER BUSINESS EXCELLENCE AWARD The Business Excellence Award was created to provide scholarships to five students with declared majors in a field of business, marketing, economics, or finance. Students must be enrolled full-time with a minimum of 12 credit hours and classified, according to credit hours earned, as a sophomore, junior, or senior in an accredited bachelor business-related program. Each award totals $1,000. 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. An official copy of the university transcript which includes a GPA. ALMA JUANITA JONES APPLIED SCIENCES EXCELLENCE AWARD The Applied Sciences Excellence Award, in the amount of $2,250, will be awarded to undergraduate and graduate students, and to a student athlete. These students must pursue a Bachelor of Science or Master of Science degree. Four awards will be made in this scholarship category. Three awards of $2,250 each will be given to undergraduate and graduate students; one additional award will be given to an undergraduate or graduate student who is also an athlete. The recipients must be enrolled in an accredited college or university with a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester. GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale. A copy of an official high school transcript which shows rank, GPA, TAKS, SAT/ACT or an official copy of the university transcript. THE REUBEN WHEATLEY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Reuben Wheatley Memorial Scholarship will fund individual awards of $2,500 each, to two high school graduates to pursue a degree in the field of their choice at an accredited four-year college or university. ABA GAYLE WILEY SCHOLARSHIP FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to a student with a physical disability who is an entering freshman or an upper classman. A copy of an official high school transcript which shows rank, GPA, TAKS, SAT/ACT or an official copy of the university transcript. The transcript must be sent directly from the high school or university to the Brentwood Community Foundation. WELTON AND ROSANNA OWENS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP This $2,500 scholarship will be awarded, $1,250 per semester, to a full time student to pursue a degree in elementary or secondary education at an accredited college or university. The student must maintain a 2.5 GPA to receive the award for the second semester. 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. LEROY VAN AND GEORGE DAVIS MEMORIAL PHARMACY SCHOLARSHIP The $5,000 Leroy Van and George Davis Memorial Pharmacy Scholarship will be awarded to a full time student enrolled in a six-year accredited Historically Black College or University (HBCU) School of Pharmacy. This scholarship is not renewable, but can be awarded to the same student more than once. The student must maintain a GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in all academic subjects. The goal of this scholarship is to strengthen the student s skills and commitment to a career in pharmacy. 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. An official copy of the university transcript which includes GPA. WAYNE JOHNSON III PUBLIC SERVICE SCHOLARSHIP This award will be given to a sophomore, junior, or senior student with a declared major in political science, with the intent to have a career in public service. This $1,000 scholarship can be awarded to the same student for a maximum of three years if the student maintains the grade point average each year. 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale. An official copy of the university transcript which includes a GPA. The transcript must be sent directly from the university to the Brentwood Community Foundation. An official fee receipt that indicates paid enrollment as a full time student at a college or university. Submission of letters of acceptance or statement of fees paid in full will not be accepted. This scholarship was created by Michael and Pamiel Gaskin to honor the memory of Wayne W. Johnson III, the brother of Pamiel.
