THE CATTLE TRADERS ACT. Statutory Instrument 43 2. (Under section 9 of the Act.) 1. Citation. These Rules may be cited as the Cattle Traders Rules. 2. Application for issue or renewal of cattle trader s licence. (1) An application for the issue or renewal of a cattle trader s licence shall be made in Form I in the Schedule to these Rules to the veterinary officer in the area in which the applicant intends to carry on business as a cattle trader. (2) Every application shall be accompanied by (a) the prescribed fee; (b) in the case of an application for the issue of a licence, two unmounted photographs of the applicant, which shall be approximately 2½ inches by 2 inches in size. 3. Licence fees for issue or renewal of cattle trader s licence. (1) The fee payable on the issue or renewal of a cattle trader s licence shall be twenty shillings, and the licence shall be in Form II in the Schedule to these Rules. (2) On an application for renewal of a cattle trader s licence, the old licence shall be returned to the veterinary officer for endorsement on it of the renewal of the licence which shall be in Form III in the Schedule to these Rules. 4. Exporting licence. The fee payable in respect of an exporting licence issued by the commissioner of livestock and entomology shall be one thousand shillings; but the commissioner may, if he or she sees fit, waive payment of the fee in
respect of any Government or military contractor who is operating as a cattle trader for the sole purpose of fulfilling the terms of any Government or military contract. 5. Duplicate licence. A veterinary officer on being satisfied that a licence issued by him or her under these Rules has been lost or destroyed may at any time during the currency of the licence issue a duplicate licence to the licensee on payment of a fee of five shillings. 6. Endorsement of licence for additional areas. Any person holding a cattle trader s licence who wishes his or her licence to be endorsed for use in any additional area shall apply for the endorsement to the veterinary officer who issued his or her licence in Form IV in the Schedule to these Rules, and the application shall be accompanied by the licence to be endorsed. 7. Cattle export licence. (1) An application for the issue of a cattle export licence shall be made in Form V in the Schedule to these Rules to the commissioner of livestock and entomology. (2) A cattle export licence shall be in Form VI in the Schedule to these Rules. 8. Offences and penalties. Any person who makes any statement which to his or her knowledge is untrue in any application for the grant or renewal of a cattle trader s licence or for the endorsement of a licence commits an offence against these Rules and is liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding five hundred shillings or to imprisonment for a period not exceeding three months or to both.

Form V. Application for a Cattle Export Licence. rule 7(1). Full name of applicant or company (To be completed where the application is made on behalf of a company or firm). I am the managing director/secretary/local manager/partner of the applicant company/firm.
