The Teresa McGinty Scholarship Program was created by the Board of Alliance Catholic Credit Union in memory and recognition of its former President and CEO, Teresa McGinty. Scholarship Requirements The Alliance Catholic Credit Union Teresa McGinty Scholarship Program is designed to award educational scholarships to college students. Applicants are evaluated with equal emphasis on academic achievement, community involvement and essay content. o Three (3) recipients currently attending college will each receive $500 to be applied toward their 2016/2017 College tuition. Applicant Qualifications Applicant must be currently attending a college, university or trade school and will be attending during the Fall 2016 semester. Scholarship award checks will be paid directly to the college, university or trade school that the recipient will attend during the Fall 2016 semester. Eligibility Applicant must meet all of the following criteria: 1. Applicant must be a member in good standing 1 of Alliance Catholic Credit Union whose account is not dormant 2. 2. Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and provide transcript for verification 3. Scholarship application must be accompanied by: o One (1) Letter of Recommendation from a non-family member o List of volunteer service/activities/awards over the last 12 months o Copy of transcript showing an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher o Short Essay (not to exceed 500 words) focusing on the question, How has volunteering in the community contributed to the development of my leadership skills? 1 Member in good standing includes members that do not have: (a) a delinquent loan; (b) a Regular Savings Account balance below the $5.00 minimum; (c) an unresolved deposited returned check; (d) any unpaid and uncollected fees; (e) a negative balance on an Account; or (f) caused a financial loss to the Credit Union. 2 A dormant account is any account or share with no activity in 365 days. Must be typed or neatly printed Selection Applications will be reviewed by the Alliance Catholic Credit Union Scholarship Committee. Applicants will be notified of the Scholarship Committee s decision by Friday, May 6, 2016. Cancellation Failure to maintain your status at school (including being terminated from school or dropping out of school) will result in the cancellation of the award and any remaining funds will be returned to the Credit Union and not redistributed.
