Boatowners Policy Boatowners Policy Enumclaw Property and Casualty offers affordable, year-round protection for preferred operators and their family-type boats, motors and trailers under our Boatowners Policy. The competitive features and pricing of the Boatowners Policy make it an excellent product for safe boaters. Policy Features The Boatowners Policy offers Physical Coverage, Liability and Medical Payments coverage. The following are a few Standard Features*. Physical Coverage includes: 1. Replacement cost coverage on partial losses. 2. $100 coverage for towing and labor. 3. $500 coverage for personal effects. 4. Replacement boats and motors up to 31 feet and $100,000 covered automatically up to 60 days. 5. $500 for collision liability if the policy doesn t include liability coverage. 6. Agreed value available (see Coverage Options for details). Liability Coverage includes: 1. Payment for liability arising out of the use of an owned or non-owned boat. 2. Defense costs. 3. Reimbursement for bail bonds required of the insured due to an occurrence we cover and per diem reimbursement for trial attendance. Medical Coverage includes: 1. First party medical payments. 2. Payment of reasonable medical expenses and funeral costs up to 3 years after the date of the accident. 3. Coverage for water skiers. Watercraft Eligibility Watercraft Eligibility Target Market The Boatowners product is designed to provide a market for the typical family watercraft. The best prospects for Enumclaw Property and Casualty s Boatowners Policy are mature, experienced boaters with good operating records in their boats and automobiles, and well-maintained, family-type boats used only for personal recreation. Supporting business is not generally required. Accounts eligible to be bound display the following positive factors: 1. Boats 15 years and newer. 2. Boats not exceeding $100,000 or 31 feet in length. 3. Boats that are not included on the ineligible boats list. 4. Boats containing all Coast Guard required and approved safety equipment. 5. Boats that are owned by an individual, not a business. 6. The applicant is age 23 or older with a history of loss-free boat operating experience. 7. The boat is a family-type vessel powered in accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations, with a top speed not exceeding 55 mph. 8. The boat and equipment are kept in a supervised, secure location. 9. Operation of the boat will occur in safe boating areas such as navigable lakes and inland waters that are free of unusual hazards. Ineligible Boats 1. Boats powered by motors with horsepower in excess of the manufacturer s recommendation. 2. Kit boats or converted boats (scows, crash boats, lifeboats, etc.). 3. Boats with heating or cooking facilities fueled by gasoline or white gas. 4. Amphibious craft, air-propelled boats or submersibles. 5. Inflatable boats or boats with inflatable pontoons. 6. Boats under construction. 7. Boats with ferro-cement hulls. 8. Drag boats, boats powered by automobile engines not commercially converted for marine use, or heavily customized boats. 9. Personal watercraft without homeowner and auto supporting business. If the applicant has an HO-4, $50,000 will be the minimum required Coverage C limit. 10. Personal Watercraft with cc s of 750 or greater must receive prior underwriter approval. 11. Boats operated by youth organizations. 12. Water bikes, swamp buggies, airboats, hydroplanes and experimental craft. 13. Boats used for charter, rental or commercial purposes. 14. Boats used or designed for racing (except sailboats, or power boats in predicted log racing) or excessive speed. 15. Boats used in competitions such as bass tournaments. 16. Boats used as permanent living quarters. Agents may not bind ineligible boats. Exceptional cases may be referred to your underwriter with an explanation and request for approval. Watercraft Eligibility Watercraft Eligibility Watercraft Rating Categories Inboard Watercraft Type Description The motor and drive train are inside the hull. The hull and motor are a combined value. Outboard The motor is outside the hull. Separate values are needed for the hull and motor. Inboard / Outdrive The motor is inside the hull and the drive train is outside the hull. The hull and motor are a combined value. Sailboat Personal Watercraft Trailers Equipped with sails but may have a motor. Separate values are needed for the hull and auxiliary motors. Operator Eligibility Operator Eligibility Operator Eligibility The operator of a boat insured under the Enumclaw Property and Casualty Boatowners Policy should be eligible for preferred auto insurance. While the automobile driving record of an applicant may not correlate exactly with his/her habits in operating a boat, it is an indicator of attitude that may make a difference in the long-term profitability of an individual policy. Ineligible Operators The following characteristics make an operator ineligible for coverage: 1. As a named insured, any person without a valid automobile drivers license. 2. An at-fault boat loss in the last 3 years. 3. Any alcohol-related citation in the last 5 years. 4. Any felony conviction or significant misdemeanor. 5. Applicants less than 23 years, unless there is a supporting auto or home account. Contact your underwriter for review of ineligible operators. Enumclaw Property and Casualty Insurance Company 7
General Rules General Rules Additional or Return Premium Paid-In-Full Policies Additional premium will be billed as an installment. Return premium will be sent to the insured. Installment Bill Policies Additional premium will be spread over the remaining installments. Return premium will be spread over the current and remaining installments. Application: A fully completed application is required for each new policy or new boat added to an existing policy. Separate insurance amounts must be shown for each boat (including attached equipment), motor, boat trailer and miscellaneous portable boat equipment. Coverage: Physical Coverage may be written alone, or with Liability and Medical Payments. Liability and Medical Payments may not be written without Physical Coverage. (Utah only: Liability and Medical Payments, without Physical Coverage, is permitted.) Coverage Rounding: Amounts of insurance are rounded to the nearest $100. Deductibles: The same deductible shall apply to all boats, motors, boat trailers and miscellaneous boat equipment insured under the policy. Minimum Premiums: The minimum premiums for policies containing: Physical Coverage Only $50. Liability and Medical Payments Coverage Only $50. Liability and Medical Payments, if the policy also $10. includes Physical Coverage Multiple Motors: If more than one motor is used on a boat, the rating shall be based on the total combined horsepower. The exception to this rule will be for auxiliary motors with 25 horsepower or less; these motors will not be used to determine the total horsepower. Policy Period: The Boatowners Policy is written for a one year term. Premium Rounding: Premium amounts shall be rounded to the nearest whole $1. Pro Rata Rating: All mid-term changes and cancellations will be computed on a pro rate basis. Minimum premiums for coverages being added are not subject to pro rate. Rate Rounding: Rates subject to discounts or surcharges are rounded to the nearest penny ($.01) after each calculation. Enumclaw Property and Casualty Insurance Company 8

Surcharges Surcharges Coastal Waters Surcharge For Physical Coverage Rates The Boatowners Policy covers anywhere in the continental United States, Alaska and Canada, and their respective coastal waters within 12 miles offshore. However, rates provided are for inland lakes and rivers and Puget Sound, including the Straits of Georgia and Juan de Fuca to Cape Flattery. If the boat is to be used in coastal waters, the Physical Coverage rates for the boat, motors and miscellaneous portable boat equipment will be surcharged by 25%. Aging Surcharge Percentages For Physical Coverage Premiums The following surcharges apply separately to each boat, motor and trailer insured for Physical Coverage. 1. Determine the age by subtracting the model year of the property to be insured from the year in which the policy becomes effective or renews. 2. Multiply the aging surcharge times the applicable rate for the property to be insured.
