Faxes or photocopies of score reports are not acceptable, nor will we accept scores that are more than two years old. Letters of Recommendation. Three letters of recommendation must be submitted from faculty members acquainted with your work in law study or persons for whom you have worked in a professional capacity. Letters from professors who have taught you personally are most useful. Forms for recommendations are provided with the application materials. You can photocopy the forms if necessary. You should ask each recommender to enclose the recommendation form in an envelope, seal the envelope, sign it across the seal, and return it to you to be submitted, unopened, with your other application materials. Alternatively, the recommender may send the letter directly to the Office. Resume or Curriculum Vitae. Please attach a resume or curriculum vitae describing your academic and professional background. Educational information should include schools, dates of attendance, degree(s) awarded, activities and organizations, academic honors, awards, scholarships or fellowships, and any original research including publications. Employment history should include employer, position, nature of work and dates of employment. Statement of Purpose. This statement of two to three pages seeks information about your experience in legal practice and other law-related activities, your reasons for pursuing an LL.M. degree at Boston College, and the legal fields in which you would like to focus your LL.M. studies. This statement should also discuss your professional goals, and how the completion of the LL.M. could help you achieve your goals. Financial Matters. The estimated cost of study for a single student during the 2015-16 academic year is $68,430. This figure includes tuition of $48,670 and an allowance towards your living expenses. It does not include the expenses of travel between the student s home country and the Boston area. The comparable figures for the 2016-17 academic year are likely to be higher. Applicants requiring financial assistance should investigate funding sources in their home countries well in advance. Examples of such sources include employers, government agencies and foundations. The United States embassy or consulate in your home country may have information on U.S. government grants under the Fulbright Program (www.fulbrightonline.org) and other information on fellowship opportunities. A partial list appears on our website at http://www.bc.edu/schools/law/admission/llmprogram/applying.html. In addition, loan funding may be available from organizations such as Sallie Mae.* If you are not a United States citizen or permanent resident, however, these lenders generally require a United States citizen or permanent resident to guarantee the loan. Loan funding may also be available from private sponsoring organizations in other countries. Boston College Law School has a limited amount of financial aid available to LL.M. students. The scholarship application form is available for download from our web site, and may be submitted either with your application for admission or after you receive an offer of admission. We review your application for admission without regard to your financial situation, so submitting a scholarship application will have no effect on whether or not we offer you admission to the LL.M. program. Admitted applicants who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States will need to provide evidence that they have sufficient financial resources to meet the cost of study in order to obtain a visa to enter the United States. Information concerning the visa application process will be provided to admitted applicants separately. Important Note. Your application and all attachments (other than letters of recommendation and official documents) must be solely the product of your own efforts. Boston College Law School reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant, and dismiss any student, who has received external assistance with his or her application. Further Information. If you have questions about the application form or the application process, please contact the LL.M. Office by email at bcllm@ bc.edu, by telephone at (617) 552-1002, or at the above address. *https://www.salliemae.com/student-loans/international
