EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Definition: Under general supervision performs work of moderate difficulty in activities related to law enforcement, crime prevention and investigation and other direct public service activities; performs related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Age: Applicants must be 20 years of age on or before February 28, 2015 and no older than 34 years of age on or before February 28, 2015. Education: Graduation from high school or General Educational Development (GED) Tests equivalency and one (1) year of job-related college course work at an accredited college or university. Applicants who do not possess the college requirement may participate in the examination and receive appointment. However, in order to maintain their positions they must complete the one (1) year college requirement (36 quarter hours or 24 semester hours) within two (2) years from the date of successful completion of the Police Training Academy. Driver's License: Candidates must possess a valid driver's license upon appointment and provide copy upon appointment. Other: Candidates for appointment to the Academy must be 21 years of age and cannot be 35 years of age upon the start date of the Academy, which is the date of original appointment. Must be physically qualified to perform the duties of the position at the time of appointment. This position requires employees to work in set shifts, including on weekends, nights and holidays. Must be eligible to work in the United States of America. Must qualify for LEADS, NORIS and NCIC certification and must obtain such certification during the Academy.
