ALLOW SIP TRAFFIC FROM THE OUTSIDE The factory default NetVanta 7100 has a SIP allow rule that can be modified. That rule has been removed on the lab units. In the following steps, you will add a rule allowing SIP traffic in from the service provider s SIP server. (172.23.102.87) 1. From the Data / Firewall / Security Zones menu, select the Public Security Zone. 2. Click Add Policy to Zone Public. 3. Select the Allow policy type, and then click Continue. NetVanta IP Telephony Course L6-7

4. Configured the Allow policy with settings shown below: Policy Type select Allow Set Destination Security Zone to <Self Bound> Source IP: Specified Address: 172.23.102.87 Mask: 255.255.255.2555 Destination IP: select Any Protocol: choose UDP Allowed Ports: Specified Equal To: 5060 Destination Security Zone: Choosing <Self Bound> is a shortcut method of specifying destined to any IP address defined on the NetVanta 7100. Source IP: When allowing traffic from a SIP service provider, define the source IP as the IP address of the Service Provider s SIP server. (172.23.102.87) Protocol/Ports: SIP traffic is UDP port 5060 With a factory default NetVanta 7100, what traffic is allowed in from Internet? L6-8 NetVanta IP Telephony Course

CONFIGURE LOW LATENCY QUEUING (LLQ) RTP traffic (voice) generated by the NetVanta 7100 is marked a DSCP 46. In the following steps, you will configure Low Latency Queuing (LLQ); where DSCP 46 will be placed in the priority queue getting 50% of the available bandwidth. 5. From the Data / Router / QoS Map menu, create a QoS Map named voip with a sequence number of 10. Name: voip Seq #: 10 Click Add 6. Configure QoS Map voip-10 to match DSCP 46. Set the Priority Queue Bandwidth to 50 % of available bandwidth. NetVanta IP Telephony Course L6-9

CONFIGURE CLASS BASED WEIGHTED FAIR QUEUING (CBWFQ) SIP signaling traffic generated by the NetVanta 7100 is marked a DSCP 26. Configure Class Based Weighted Fair Queuing (CBWFQ); where DSCP 26 gets 5% of the remaining bandwidth after the priority queue. 7. From the Data / Router / QoS Map menu, create a second QoS Map named voip with a sequence number of 20. Name: voip Seq #: 20 Click Add 8. Configure QoS Map voip-20 to match DSCP 26. Set the Bandwidth for Traffic Class to 5% Percent Remaning bandwidth. L6-10 NetVanta IP Telephony Course

ENABLE TRAFFIC SHAPING ON ETHERNET 0/0 Notice below that an Outbound QoS-policy can not be applied to an Ethernet or VLAN router interface until traffic shaping is enabled on the interface. In the steps below, you will enable traffic shaping and then apply the new QoS map to interface eth 0/0. 9. From the Data / Router / QoS Map menu, click interface eth 0/0 to edit interface. 10. Enable Traffic-Shaping and for lab purpose, set the rate limit to 768000. 11. From the Data / Router / QoS Map menu, assign the Outbound QoS-policy voip to interface eth 0/0. NetVanta IP Telephony Course L6-11

ENABLE VOICE QUALITY MONITORING (VQM) VQM allows the network administrator to passively examine the full RTP data stream and identify problem areas down to the packet level in an easy-to-use GUI. 12. From the Monitoring / Voice Quality / RTP Monitoring menu, enable SIP RTP Monitoring and then click Apply. You will return to the VQM screen after placing calls later in the lab. L6-12 NetVanta IP Telephony Course

CREATE A SIP TRUNK ACCOUNT Configure the SIP Trunk Account to point to the IP address of the Service Provider s SIP server. You will also disable Reject External to allow trunk to trunk calls, set the max number or calls on this trunk to 10, and define preferred codec group. 13. From the Voice / Trunks / Trunk Accounts screen, create a new SIP Trunk Account named SIP_TA. 14. Configure SIP Trunk Account with settings shown: Disable Reject External Set Number Calls to 10 Service Provider s SIP Server 172.23.102.87 NetVanta IP Telephony Course L6-13

Continue new SIP trunk account configuration Set FROM Header Host Type Override to Local. Note: when connecting to a SIP service provider, the above setting is left on SIP Server. For LAB purposes, we are setting to Local. Service Provider s SIP Server 172.23.102.87 is also the Registrar server Choose g711_first as the preferred Codec Group Click Apply L6-14 NetVanta IP Telephony Course

CREATE THE SIP TRUNK GROUP The SIP Trunk Group will point to the new SIP trunk account and define calls allowed out of the SIP trunk. 15. From the Voice / Trunks / Trunk Group screen, create a new Trunk Group named SIP_TG. 16. Add the new SIP_TA as a member of this group. 17. Configure the Outbound Call Templates so that ONLY Local and Long Distance calls are allowed out with a Low Cost. NetVanta IP Telephony Course L6-15

MODIFY COST OF EXISTING TRUNK GROUPS The existing Analog and ISDN trunk groups allow Local and Long Distance calls out. Modify both of these trunk groups so that the SIP trunk group is preferred. 18. From the Voice / Trunks / Trunk Group screen, edit both trunk groups and configure cost as shown below: Analog Trunk Group Local: Medium Cost Long Distance: High Cost 911: Low Cost ISDN Trunk Group Local: High Cost Long Distance: Medium Cost Q: If the SIP trunk goes down, which Trunk Group will be used for Local calls? L6-16 NetVanta IP Telephony Course

CONFIGURE A SIP IDENTITY The SIP service provider has assigned you a SIP username. (phone number/did). The NetVanta 7100 needs to register that username with the Service Provider s SIP server. In the following steps, you will configure your new Auto Attendant with the Service Provider assigned SIP identity. 19. From the Voice / Applications / Auto Attendants menu, edit your Main Auto Attendant 8201. Note: Could use 8200 if last lab not completed 20. From the Alias/SIP Identities tab, select the Add SIP Identity button and assign the SIP identity shown below to auto attendant 8201. SIP Identity: 256881XXXX Assoc. SIP Trunk: SIP_TA Trunk Registration: Enabled Trunk Auth: Set User: 256881XXXX Password: XXXX XXXX is your assigned passcode The new identity may have already been registered out the trunk but for lab purposes, complete the following to force it to immediately register if it has not. 21. From the enable mode, issue the following command: IPT# sip trunk-registration force-register 22. Confirm that the new SIP identity has registered out the SIP trunk: IPT# show sip trunk-registration NetVanta IP Telephony Course L6-17

VERIFY CONFIGURATION The SIP trunk is configured with the lowest cost for LOCAL and Long Distance calls. In the following steps, you will place calls to confirm proper call routing. PSTN NetVanta 7100 FXS 0/1 x2001 SIP Eth 0/0 x2004 SIP Server 172.23.102.87 x2003 What debug command would you enter to confirm proper call routing? 23. From the GUI or CLI, enable the proper debug command to confirm call routing and view the output while placing the calls in the upcoming steps: T01 = Analog Trunk Account 1 T02 = Analog Trunk Account 2 T03 = ISDN PRI Trunk Account T04 = SIP Trunk Account The symbol represents a call made from your own phone into the NetVanta IP Telephony Course Auto Attendant.
