Managed Services We can provide you with a fully managed service more than simply hosting or co-location but a full end-to-end and single point of contact service.

Infrastructure & Software Datacentres At PDMS we house our systems within two separate, world class datacentres, each of which provide: Multiple power feeds backed up by Uninterruptable Power Supplies and onsite generation capabilities. Multiple fire suppression systems. Multiple, diverse internet connections. By using two separate datacentres from two distinct suppliers, we are able to house our systems across the suppliers and therefore remove the reliance on any single supplier or their facility. Hardware PDMS houses our systems on high-end HP servers, connected with Cisco networking devices. These two industry leaders have provided us with a genuinely robust, resilient and scalable underlying hardware tier. All hardware has been implemented to provide resiliency and redundancy with no single points of failure. Multiple devices have been implemented for each required function, and all are configured with high availability in mind. Virtualisation Systems hosted by PDMS are housed in a virtualised environment, built on VMware vsphere, the industry s leading virtualisation platform for building cloud infrastructures. By taking this approach we have been able to make much more efficient use of the hardware resources that we have implemented, and are able to react quickly and effectively to implement new services of varying sizes within the infrastructure as a whole. This approach has also helped us meet our environmental commitments and maintain our environmental ISO14001 certification. Connectivity PDMS use a series of networks that have designed for maximum availability. Each of the datacentres that we utilise has multiple internet feeds, and we have joined these together with a diverse multi-routed network. This design enables us to provide our systems in multiple locations, through multiple carriers, to multiple entry points on the internet. Operating Systems PDMS uses Microsoft s Windows Server platform to run our operating systems. This enables us to deliver a broad range of services on a robust, secure and managed platform. The Windows platform has enabled us to have a highly compatible infrastructure to run the core components that make up our systems, from the data storage through web servers and security devices. Databases We use Microsoft s SQL Server platform and hold a Gold Competency in the Microsoft Partner Network. This enterprise-ready technology enables us to have high levels of performance, availability and security, on a scalable underlying platform..

Monitoring Our hosting environment has been designed for purpose and contains a substantial suite of monitoring tools. This enables us to provide a very pro-active level of service, identifying potential issues long before they become problematic to the systems and the people that rely on them. We monitor everything from temperature, through to bandwidth, database performance to power consumption, and any potential issues or uncharacteristic readings are escalated through to our engineers. Security Our hosting environment is highly secure. Our systems are hosted within very secure physical facilities with all the security technologies that you would expect from leading datacentres, and we also utilise a number of security products from industry leaders such as Microsoft and Cisco. We have designed our infrastructure to have multiple security devices from multiple vendors in order to mitigate security issues at source. As part of our ISO27001 certified quality system we also implement regular testing of a wide range of areas on the network to ensure that we are meeting our security standards.

Engineering Personnel PDMS employs a dedicated team of engineers and technicians to monitor, maintain, and continually improve the infrastructure that we have built over the past ten years. Our engineers and technicians are actively involved in the design and implementation of our infrastructures and therefore have a holistic, big picture view of our environments in addition to a detailed engineering view of the individual components. Our engineers work alongside our application development teams, and are therefore involved from the outset of the design process for creating new systems for our clients. This ensures that systems wrien by PDMS are developed with the underlying infrastructure in mind; and that our infrastructure is designed with clients systems in mind. Members of our infrastructure team also hold various security clearances including Security Clearance (SC) and NonPolice Personnel Veing (NPPV). Monitoring We have implemented a number of monitoring systems to help identify potential issues. It is the responsibility of our engineers to ensure that any potential issues are resolved prior to them causing any noticeable effect on systems hosted by PDMS. Maintenance We constantly maintain the entire infrastructure that houses our systems. From the hardware, through the virtualisation and operating systems, and down to the rows of data stored by an individual application, all these things need differing levels of maintenance, and our engineers work against a number of scheduled maintenance plans to ensure the smooth running of our systems.

Services Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity We have designed our infrastructure for resilience and high availability. Systems are implemented on to hardware which itself is very resilient, with no single points of failure. The systems themselves are also implemented on two discrete sets of infrastructure in two discrete locations. We have implemented an active-active system, so unlike a traditional cold or warm standby, both installations of the system are providing service at the same time, with data being synchronously replicated between them. This design enables us to provide exceedingly high levels of uptime and business continuity as all the system components are replicated and online all the time. Backup We understand the requirements and the comfort that is brought about by backing data up. Whilst we do have exceedingly high levels of business continuity, there are still occasions where data will need to be restored to a previous date. We have therefore built a backup system which provides continuous recovery points for the data underlying the systems that we have developed. These backups are wrien to online storage for quick recovery and also regularly taken to tape so as to provide a point in time archive. Patching and Updates We house our systems on advanced infrastructure that requires patches and updates to keep ahead of the latest internet threats, and to increase the stability and performance of the underlying infrastructure. We also carry out regular testing of a wide range of areas on our network to ensure that we meet our ISO27001 security quality standard. Our engineers ensure that the latest patches and updates to all levels of the infrastructure are implemented at the earliest possible time. They use our replicated infrastructure to ensure that there is no downtime to our systems as they are patched or updated. Quality, Security and the Environmental Our infrastructure has been accredited for a number of internationally recognised standards: ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System ISO 27001:2005 Information Security Management System ISO 14001:2004 Environmental Management System These three standards demonstrate the degree of quality within our infrastructure, and our continuous improvement programmes to ensure our on-going commitment to the quality of our offering, the security of the data that we house, and the environmental impact that housing these systems has.

Why choose PDMS? A Complete Managed Service PDMS can provide our clients with a completely managed service from the design and development of your bespoke business system, to its on-going support, maintenance and hosting. Our comprehensive managed service offering provides significant value and is much more than just hosting or co-location services. Hosting can be purchased as a commodity service from a range of suppliers, but we believe that working with one trusted partner who has sole responsibility for the performance of your business system or website is a beer approach. Whilst systems developed by PDMS using Foundations TM can be hosted by our clients, or another third party hosting partner; this approach forfeits the additional benefits and value-for-money that can be realised when PDMS hosts the systems we develop for our clients and partners. Advantages of hosting your System with PDMS One single point of contact You will be dealing with one single company for the development, enhancement, support/ maintenance and hosting of your system, as opposed to two or more separate suppliers, which helps to reduce administration time and costs. We issue one monthly invoice which covers all of our services. Freeing up your valuable IT resources - PDMS provides a completely managed service, which reduces the burden on your in-house IT staff. They do not have to invest time or expertise in seing up and managing infrastructure; instead they can focus on other areas that will add additional value to your business. Future proof and flexible We are constantly upgrading our infrastructure at no additional cost or financial risk to our customers. This means that our customers do not have to worry about obsolete infrastructure. We can quickly and easily help your business scale-up as you grow, by increasing bandwidth and storage space enabling you to adapt quickly to market changes. No passing the buck Sometimes when issues with systems arise the hosting company may believe that the issue is connected to a problem with the software, whilst the software development company may think the problem lies in the hosting environment. This can mean that it is time consuming and costly to resolve issues. When PDMS provides you with a completely managed service, you will know that we have sole responsibility for the satisfactory performance of the software we deliver and host for you, and our teams will work hard to ensure high levels of system performance and customer satisfaction. More responsive service - Our infrastructure team and project teams are in the same building; which means we can put systems live and deploy any upgrades or fixes quickly and efficiently. We have a streamlined process for managing deployments which both our development and infrastructure teams are very familiar with. More effective testing PDMS tests the systems we develop in a staging environment which is identical to the live hosting environment. This helps eliminate risk if a system is tested in a staging environment which is different from the live environment unforeseen issues can arise on deployment.
