Corrosion Logging Accurate...Reliable...Measurement Casing and production tubing failure caused by corrosion or mechanical defects can occur at anytime throughout the life of a well. Regular inspection of the production tubing and casing using corrosion wireline logging tools offer early detection of problem areas and allows for timely planning of remedial action. Our wireline measurements can predict, detect, and delineate corrosion in the form of metal loss, holes, pits, and mechanical deformation. Furthermore, external problems can be distinguished from internal ones. Downhole corrosion problems are many and varied, requiring many techniques for their detection and monitoring. Probe provides a combination of measurements - electrical and mechanical - so you can make the right choice to get the answers you need: Cement Map Applications: Tool Arm Caliper Tool Interior Wall Electromagnetic Thickness Tool Producing wells corrosion detection Injector wells corrosion detection Casing integrity measurement before and after a Frac job Casing integrity measurement prior to sidetrack operation Drilling induced Casing Wear evaluation Non-corroded Round Pipe Hole in Pipe TOOL TOOL Pipe Min. System Components Comprehensive Corrosion Logging System Multi-Arm Caliper Tool (MAC) Our Multi-Arm Caliper Tool evaluates the inner diameter of casing and tubing strings with accurate radial measurements. The MAC tool deploys an array of hard surfaced fingers that accurately measure the inner pipe wall. The tool is temperature compensated to provide minimum drift of the measurement. Ranges of tools sizes with 20, 40, or 60 fingers are available to accommodate different casing sizes. It is combinable with Electromagnetic Inspection tools, Gamma Ray-CCL, and Cement Bond tools. It is available in Surface Read-out or Memory mode. Electromagnetic Inspection Tool (EMIT) Probe s Electromagnetic Inspection Tool evaluates casing wall thickness using a Remote Eddy Current Field principal. It is based on an electromagnetic phenomenon that can be observed by placing coils in a conductive pipe. Phase-shift of the signal received by the far field detector is proportional to wall thickness. A second receiver coil, closely spaced to the far field detector, determines a differential thickness measurement. This provides an enhanced resolution of small defects in the casing wall. An additional coil pair array provides an electromagnetic caliper that measures casing inner diameter. It is combinable with Multi-Arm Caliper tools, Gamma Ray-CCL, and Cement Bond tools. It is available in Surface Read-out or Memory mode. Radii Dual Receiver Cement Bond Tool The Radii Cement Bond Tool (CBT) utilizes a single ceramic transmitter, (an eight segment receiver at 3ft. spacing and a single receiver at 5ft. spacing) to accurately measure the quality of the cement job in a cased hole well environment. The segmented receiver provides good indication of cement channeling behind the casing. In addition, an optional temperature sensor is available. Ranges of tools sizes, 1 11/16 and 2 ¾, are available to accommodate different casing sizes and thru-tubing application. This tool is also combinable with our single detector and dual detector neutron porosity tools. It is available in Surface Read-out or Memory mode. 6
System Components Comprehensive Corrosion Logging System Dual Receiver Cement Bond Tool The Dual Receiver Cement Bond Tool (CBT) evaluates the integrity of the cement bond to casing and formation. The Dual Receiver Cement Bond Tool utilizes a single omni-directional acoustic transmitter and dual omni-directional acoustic receivers spaced at 3 and 5. MIPS Software MIPS software reads seamlessly from the Probe field database, and is a simple, effective and efficient way of exploiting the accuracy and versatility of the multi-arm caliper and magnetic thickness sensors. The MIPS packages provide state-of-the-art processing, visualization and analysis for rapid assessment of pipe damage, corrosion, scale build up and thickness defects. MIPSPro is offered as a full processing package, MIPSLite (field QC package), and a license free viewer is provided for the end user. Accessories Probe Corrosion logging tools come with its own centralizers in the tool, but for further centralization. Probe also provides additional ancillaries such as centralizers and roller centralizers. Roller centralizers are the preferred mode of centralization for deviated and horizontal wells as they can provide lower friction. An additional benefit that Probe centralizer design provides, is an adjustable spring tension option to ensure the most effective centralization depending on the size of the casing. 7
Real Results Powered by Ingenuity Probe s corrosion logging tools are providing reliable and high quality measurements to our clients globally. With the efficient and cost effective performance of Probe s intervention tools, our clients are improving the success of their invention operations. United States Objective A conventional oil well was drilled in 1941. The Oil Company requested a set of corrosion tools to evaluate the 5 ½ 17 lb/ft casing due to loss of production. A Multi-Arm Caliper Tool (MAC40) and an Electromagnetic Inspection Tool were used to inspect the casing. Results The logging operation was successfully completed without any lost time. Our tool s performance provided quality casing evaluation measurement that identified casing weight changes and casing anomalies such as a section collapse casing. The information was given to the client and remedial action was taken. Real Results Powered by Ingenuity Probe identifies trends and establishes key performance benchmarks by a constant revalidation of two key factors - effectiveness and application method. We provide fit-for-purpose solutions that add value to your business while continuing to advance our corrosion mitigation technologies and strategies to your benefit. Most importantly, we help optimize the service life of your well. United States Objective The Oil Company requested a corrosion tool to evaluate the 5 ½ 20 lb/ft casing along with cement evaluation behind pipe. A 2 ¾ Multi-Arm Caliper Tool (MAC40) and a 2 ¾ Radii Bond were used to inspect the casing and cement bond. Normally, there are two descents - however, with Probe s innovative technology, the tools were combined in one tool string and only one descent was made. Results The logging operation was successfully completed. Our tool s performance provided quality casing and cement evaluation measurement that identified casing anomalies such as a section shown below. The cement integrity was excellent quality. The information was given to the client and remedial action was taken. In addition, efficiency gains were improved by combining corrosion logging tools with a cement evaluation tool.
