3D Visualization and Guidance System O P H T H A L M O L O G Y
TrueVision is revolutionizing the way surgeons perform ophthalmic procedures. Their continuum of innovations is driving a movement into high acuity 3D visualization and computer aided digital guidance tools. I am seeing immediate benefits in clinical outcomes and easing the burden of performing complex surgical steps. Robert J. Weinstock, MD, Eye Institute of West Florida
TrueVision intelligent 3D visualization impacts everyone in the operating room Surgeons, residents and OR staff can view what traditionally only one surgeon could observe through the microscope s binoculars. Courtesy of Roger Barone/Wills Eye Shared visualization is inherently more efficient, with the goal of reducing potential risks to patients 3D Teaching Features Record and edit hours of 3D HD video of surgical procedures Provide an effective and dramatic learning experience Use for patient education and surgical programs TrueWare 3D Imaging Software Multiple window panes for surgical view and patient data Seamlessly integrate phacoemulsification and navigation inputs Live image has up to twice the depth of field compared to the eyepiece optics
The Refractive Cataract Toolset enables me to perform more precise surgery. By using virtual guidance on the 3D live image, I can see precise axis, alignment and centration. Mark Packer, MD, FACS, CPI, Clinical Associate Professor, Oregon Health & Science University
Refractive Cataract Toolset The Refractive Cataract Toolset is a 3D computer-aided guidance application for cataract surgery. Pre-operative clinical data and 3D images from the slit lamp are processed by TrueVision RC Toolset software to generate toric IOL alignment, limbal relaxing incision, or capsulorhexis templates. During cataract surgery using the TrueVision 3D Visualization System, surgeons are provided with incision templates and alignment guidelines superimposed over the live 3D view using image registration and real-time eye tracking. Toric IOL Alignment Template Pre-operative 3D slit lamp images provide true vertical reference point On-screen IOL alignment guidance with axis orientation Reference points provide assistance with IOL centration adjustments Corrects for pre-defined SIA Limbal Relaxing Incision Template Pre-operative 3D slit lamp images are captured and imported for alignment Use of standard or surgeon-specific nomograms Compensates for cyclorotation and pre-defined SIA Capsulorhexis Template Pre-operative 3D slit lamp images are captured and imported for alignment Image registration and capsulorhexis alignment is confirmed in the OR Surgeon can micro-adjust for asymmetric dilation and cyclorotation
High definition 3-D visualization should shorten the learning curve for surgical skills transfer. Now, multiple observers including residents, fellows, and attendings can all see the operating surgeon s stereo view. Training programs will accumulate incredible teaching video collections for all microsurgical procedures that will have far greater impact than their 2-D predecessors. This may be the single biggest advance in teaching anterior segment surgery to residents since the advent of video recording. David F. Chang, MD, Clinical Professor, Department of Ophthalmology, University of California, San Francisco
