PUBLIC NOTICE FOR A MARIE CURIE POSITION FOR INITIAL TRAINING OF YOUNG RESEARCHERS The Director CONSIDERED that D.L. 165/01, art.7, 6 is stating that in order to grant a contratto di collaborazione coordinata e continuativa a comparative evaluation has to be performed, on the basis of a specific policy; CONSIDERED the University Policy on the comparative selection procedure to be undergone before entering a contratto di collaborazione coordinata e continuativa or a collaborazione occasionale, D.R. n. 1461 del 25.07.2006; CONSIDERED the EC decision n. C(2007)5740 issued on November 28, 2007; CONSIDERED the Director of Department decree n. 10 issued on 05/03/2010, authorizing the procedure written above, that is performed upon request by dr. Charlotte Kilstrup-Nielsen for the recruitment of a young researcher in the FP7 Programme People funded research project CHARACTERIZATION OF THE ROLE IN VIVO OF CDKL5 AS AN MeCP2 MODIFIER GENE (DISCHROM, Grant Agreement number 238242); CONSIDERED that the position to be appointed is fixed term and of a high qualified nature; CONSIDERED that the decree mentioned above states the impossibility to appoint any University staff member, since the FP7 Programme People rules forbid the appointment of citizens from the same country of the Institution partner in an International Training Network NOW IT IS MADE KNOWN THE FOLLOWING: art. 1- Position The selection procedure is based on the C.V. and the list of publications. The position, to be appointed to a highly skilled young researcher, is based on a collaboration contract. The contract will last 3 years, starting from the day after the Department receives an authorization notice from the Corte dei Conti Authority. The researcher with qualifications in Molecular and Cellular Biology will work within the project: CHARACTERIZATION OF THE ROLE IN VIVO OF CDKL5 AS AN MeCP2 MODIFIER GENE acronym: DisChrom, contract n. 238242, funded by the EC within the 7 Framework Programme of Research and Technological Development, sub programme People - ITN). art.2- Selection criteria By the deadline indicated below, the prospective candidates should demonstrate to possess: 1) Master of Science in Biology, or equivalent; 2) Post-diploma laboratory experience. Knowledge of the following techniques will be positively evaluated: 1

stem cells and primary neurons growth/ manipulation/ differentiation, recombinant techniques with Cre-LoxP, protein-protein interaction assays, protein purification, cellular cycle analysis; 3) Citizenship from one of the EC countries, Associated countries, other countries, Italy excluded; 4) Not having resided or having worked or studied in Italy for more than 12 months in the three years preceding the selection date; 5) Having political and civil rights both in the country of citizenship and in Italy. art. 3 Participation procedure Applications should be written using the annexed template (Model A, to be considered part of this Public Notice, published at www.uninsubria.it), and should include: - C.V.; - Certification of the degree with the indication of the mark achieved; - List of publications; - 2 Letters of recommendation; - Copy of passport or identity card; Applications should be sent by 20.4.2010 (strict deadline) by surface mail or express courier at the following address: Dipartimento di Biologia Strutturale e Funzionale Via J.H.Dunant n 3-21100 Varese, Italy, or sent by email to: adriana.jacona@uninsubria.it and c.kilstrup-nielsen@uninsubria.it. art. 4 Board of Examiners The Board of Examiners, appointed by the Director of Department, is made up of three researchers with expertise in the field, one acting as Board s President. art. 5 Selection procedure The selection is performed taking into account the C.V., the letters of recommendation, and the list of publications, maximum marks 60. The titles will be evaluated according to the indicated criteria: a) Final academic grades obtained; b) Scholarships, certificates of qualification and/or specialization c) Publications in scientific journals as long as pertinent to the subject of assignment d) Experience in a field related to the actual job e) Letters of recommendation Art. 6 Ranking list A ranking list of all candidates will be approved by the Director of Department, and will be published on the website of the University Central Administration and communicated directly to the candidates by electronic mail. 2

The Department retains the right to use the ranking list to cover other positions within the same scientific field. Art. 7 contract The successful candidate will be invited to sign a contract drafted in accordance with the existing laws and regulations on fiscal and social security matters. The total cost of the contract for the Department is 107.536,40, except IRAP, that is corresponding to 7.727,93. The recipient gross amount is 90.916,80, including deductions.
