Robert G. Moering, Psy.D. Dr. Robert Moering, a Marine Corps veteran, is a Licensed Psychologist within the Compensation & Pension (C&P) Department at the James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa, Florida. He received his Master of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and his Doctor of Psychology degree from Florida Tech. Dr. Moering completed his Internship at the James A. Haley Veteran's Administration Hospital in Tampa and was subsequently appointed as the staff psychologist for the Dual Diagnosis Treatment Program. He was then appointed by the Florida Department of Corrections to be the Senior Psychologist for three state prisons. He left the Florida Department of Corrections and became an Assistant Professor within the Department of Psychiatry at the University of South Florida. He is the CEO for Florida Psychological & Forensic Services, LLC. Dr. Moering has extensive experience in conducting a wide range of forensic psychological evaluations including VA C&P, Fitness for Duty, Competency to Proceed, Sanity, and Disability evaluations. He has served as a consultant and/or treating psychologist for the NFL, Major League Baseball, Florida Department of Health, Florida Bar, Professional Resource Network (PRN), Intervention Project for Nurses (IPN), Florida Lawyer's Assistance Program (FLA), and the FAA. Dr. Moering s research interests include psychological assessments, normative data, Ethyl Glucuronide (EtG) testing, and impaired professionals. He has published on normative data, MMPI-2 profiles for Vietnam Veterans diagnosed with PTSD, and conducting C&P evaluations. He has presented a variety of topics at for various organizations such as the American Psychological Association, Southeastern Psychological Association, and the American Counseling Association.
Nathan Kroes Nathan Kroes is a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as an enlisted infantryman. He is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Parkside and the University of Wisconsin Law School. Currently, he is assigned as a Counsel at the Board of Veterans Appeals where he has worked since 2007. Lee Becker Lee Becker currently serves as Chief, Administrative Support Division, at the Department of Veterans Affairs, Board of Veterans Appeals. Lee comes to the Board of Veterans Appeals after serving four years at the Bureau of Medicine and Surgery, and Headquarters Marine Corps, as the Deputy Officer in Charge, Wounded Warrior Regiment Medical Review Team, and overseeing the Marine Reserve Medical Hold and Line of Duty programs. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Lee is a Navy Veteran, and currently serves in the Navy Reserves as a Chief Hospital Corpsman. Lee obtained his Bachelor s of Arts in Management from American Military University, and obtained a Master s of Science in Management from The Catholic University of America. Brianne Ogilvie Brianne Ogilvie currently serves as Counsel at the Board of Veterans' Appeals. Brianne is a graduate of Wellesley College and Baylor Law School.
ELEANOR MAGERS VUONO Eleanor Magers Vuono (J.D., University of Virginia School of Law, A.B., Princeton University) clerked for the Hon. Albert V. Bryan, Jr. in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia before working in the Pentagon as an Assistant to the General Counsel, Department of the Army. She then served as a Captain in the U.S. Army JAG Corps where she was a trial counsel and the Chief of the Legal Assistance Division. She worked for two years at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces before starting her own freelance trial and appellate litigation practice. She currently is an adjunct professor at Catholic Law School where she teaches Advanced Legal Research & Writing to international LL.M. students. AARON MOSHIASHWILI Aaron Moshiashwili (J.D., University of Illinois, B.A., Thomas Edison) is an attorney with a former career in information technology, currently working on IT governance for the Defense Threat Reduction Agency. He has veterans law training and extensive public speaking experience. He has written several articles for the Veterans Law Journal and co-authored a prize-winning article for the Paralyzed Veterans of America's 2011 Law and Public Policy Writing Contest.
LINDA JELLUM Effective January 1, 2012, Professor Linda D. Jellum of the Mercer University School of Law began her term as AALS Associate Director. She will serve until July 2013. At Mercer, she teaches Administrative Law, Statutory Interpretation, and Property. During the fall of 2011, Jellum visited at Florida State College of Law where she taught Property and Administrative Law. In addition to teaching, she has coached numerous moot court teams throughout her seven years at Mercer. She has received numerous teaching and coaching awards for her service. Before joining the faculty, Professor Jellum spent five years working for Washington State s Attorney General s office. While there, she served as lead attorney for the Department of Social and Health Services. Prior to working as an assistant attorney general, she served as a law clerk for the Honorable Paul Yesawich in New York State. Professor Jellum received her J.D. from Cornell Law School and her undergraduate degree from Cornell University. She has the unique honor of having sat for and passed five states bar exams.
MICHAEL P. ALLEN Michael Allen is a Professor of Law teaching courses in Civil Procedure, Remedies, Complex Litigation, Constitutional Law I, the Federal Courts and the Federal System, and Veterans' Benefits Law. He also is the co-coach of four of Stetson's moot court teams. In addition, he supervises Stetson's internship programs at the Florida Supreme Court, the Florida Second District Court of Appeal, the United States Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. During his time at Stetson, Professor Allen has received the University level award for Excellence in Teaching, the Award for Excellence in Professionalism and Career Development presented by the Stetson College of Law Student Bar Association, been twice named the Best All Around Professor, and five times been awarded the Golden Apple Achievement Award for teaching. He has also received the University level award for excellence in scholarship as well as the Dickerson-Brown Award for Excellence in Faculty Scholarship. Before joining the faculty, Professor Allen spent nine years as a civil trial attorney at the law firm of Ropes & Gray in Boston, Massachusetts where he concentrated on complex insurance coverage cases, securities class action defense, large tort actions and general commercial litigation. Professor Allen's clients included major investment banks, a wide assortment of public companies and insurers at Lloyd's of London. Professor Allen graduated in 1992 from Columbia University School of Law where he was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar during his last two years. He received his undergraduate degree in American history and political science from the University of Rochester where he graduated summa cum laude in 1989. He is also a member of Phi Beta Kappa. Professor Allen's research interests are wide ranging. He has researched and written in areas including remedies, personal jurisdiction and the intersection of authority between the federal and state governments in areas such as the subject matter jurisdiction of the federal courts and other constitutional allocations of power. He is also a recognized expert on the law of veterans' benefits, a topic on which he has testified before the United States Congress. Professor Allen's articles have appeared in such journals as the Washington & Lee Law Review, the American University Law Review, the George Mason Law Review, the University of Michigan Journal of Law Reform, the Brooklyn Law Review, the William and Mary Bill of Rights Journal, the NYU Annual Survey of American Law, the Catholic University Law Review, and the Stetson Law Review. In addition, Professor Allen, along with his Stetson colleague Professor Michael Finch, is the author of a book entitled An Illustrated Guide to Civil Procedure published by Aspen Publishers. He is also the author (again with Professor Finch and Professor Caprice Roberts of the West Virginia University College of Law) of Federal Courts: Context, Cases and Problems, also published by Aspen Publishers. Finally, Professor Allen is active in several professional associations. He is a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Southeastern Association of Law Schools. He is also the past Chair of the AALS Section on New Law Teachers and the AALS Section on Remedies.
Sandy Wischow is a principal in the firm of Goodman Allen & Filetti, PLLC. Ms. Wischow has represented hundreds of veterans and their dependants in their claims for disability benefits before the United States Court of Veterans Appeals and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and at all administrative levels at VA. She has frequently presented on ethical issues in veterans practice at National Organization for Veterans Advocates conferences.
