THE ENTERPRISE INTERNET OF THINGS PLATFORM 2015 FEATURES GUIDE

OVERVIEW FOCUS ON THE ENTERPRISE CUSTOMER ZATAR is a cloud-based Internet of Things platform. It makes it easy to use Internet-connected devices in applications. ZATAR creates an Avatar for each device, which simplifies device data management and sharing. Unlike other platforms, ZATAR is designed with the enterprise application in mind. With ZATAR you can take your operations to the next level by creating next generation customer experiences for your end-users, workers and customers. ONLINE ZATAR is a product of Zebra Technologies, a supplier to over 90% of the Fortune 500. A HOMEPAGE FOR EACH OF YOUR DEVICES ZATAR makes it simple for you to interact with your devices, monitor status, get alerts, provide controlled access, share data and make better business decisions. ZATAR makes all of this possible by creating an AVATAR a digital representation of a physical object for each of your devices. Much like Facebook is the online representation of a physical being, the Zebra Avatar is the digital Page 3

representation of a physical device. By making it easy for apps to connect to the device avatar, users can select what properties can be accessed directly using the ZATAR REST API and get alerts when those properties change. A WORLD OF DIFFERENCE ZATAR lets you share your devices across a multitude of WORLDS. Users can create many worlds and assign specific device attributes and properties. You can set your world to PUBLIC (like the ZATAR public world) so that every ZATARIAN (member of ZATAR) can see the contents or you can choose to set your world to PRIVATE so that only you and your selected members can access it by invitation only. YOUR DEVICES AND YOUR DATA YOUR WAY You control what you share with whom and once you invite users to a world you decide what access they have, from unlimited Read-Write-Execute (RWX) to Read-Only (RO). Users with RWX access have all the same rights as a world owner except the power to delete an avatar. When you assign users RO access, you select the specific properties they can access so that you retain control of your avatars and the data they provde across member groups. WHAT YOU CAN DO TODAY ZATAR enables organizations to connect, control, create and collaborate, ensuring they take advantage of the Internet and cloud to drive superior results and unmatched customer experience. The platform supports fundamental IoT instruments such as RFID, Beacons and enterprise asset devices such as barcode printers and scanners to enable automation and efficiency. ZATAR and the IoT enable businesses to take advantage of the 4Cs to create new business models and engage customers. Connect A home page for all your devices: a simple and secure way to connect to the Cloud and the IoT. For this we provide libraries like LWM2M and CoAP. Create Create applications that take advantage of all IoT devices using our public API. Zatar supports RESTapi. Control Remotely monitor and manage all your devices, from anywhere. Zatar comes with a generic remote device management application. Collaborate Collaborate with your customers, partners and employees. Make data private, shared or public. Page 4 Page 5

DEVICES As a leading enterprise IoT platform asset intelligence provider, ZATAR is enabling and instrumenting legacy and new-generation devices to make them IoT compliant. ZATAR provides built-in support for many Zebra printers. But it also supports RFID readers, public displays and the ever-popular Raspberry Pi. Access the built-in device management capabilities of ZATAR from any web browser or using the free iphone app. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/zatar-rdm-for-iphone/ id720896275?ls=1&mt=8 ZATAR offers users a simple way to expand its capability by creating generic avatars, user-defined devices with unique properties. By adding the ZATAR Device Library (ZDL) to your own hardware, you can easily enable your device on ZATAR. The ZDL supports several maker and OEM devices, further enabling users to extend their capability and enable collaboration. Generic avatars, Internet-ready devices (i.e., display screens and sensors) and Zebra s range of barcode and RFID printers allow new business models and use cases. See a full list of ZATAR supported devices on our website. http://www.zatar.com/supported-devices SECURITY & PRIVACY ZATAR is built with security and privacy at its core. It s firewall friendly with hardened gateway devices and device libraries that do not compromise your network, assets, information or customers. A security certificate on the gateway prevents any unauthorized connections and only gateways with properly authenticated certificates will be allowed to connect to the ZATAR cloud. Critical data on the gateway is stored in encrypted form and transmissions to and from ZATAR are encrypted, too. All certificates are authenticated using a third-party CSA (Certificate Signing Authority) and are strictly maintained. The ZATAR Cloud services make certain avatar properties and methods available to authenticated applications via the ZATAR REST API. Only applications and/or users with proper credentials can access ZATAR applications. TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS Zebra Technologies works with leading technology partners to bring Zatar to the enterprise. Interested in partnering with Zatar contact Sales@Zatar.com. Page 10 Page 11

API OVERVIEW ZATAR is open for development! Access to ZATAR is provided via two separate paths, applications and devices. Client API Applications can access ZATAR via the ZATAR Client API. This API is a fully compliant REST-based API. This RESTful API allows authenticated applications to interact with avatars and worlds on ZATAR. Once authenticated, the Client API allows applications programmatic access to device onboarding and all avatar properties and methods. It uses simple CRUDXO functions and follows a Resource Endpoint design pattern. The Client API is implemented as JSON over HTTP, using traditional REST request methods (GET/POST/PUT/DELETE) to access avatars. Device API Devices communicate with ZATAR over our Device API. The ZATAR Device API uses the industry standard CoAP protocol over TCP or UDP transports. CoAP is extremely lightweight, affording the lowest overhead device connections for bandwidth-sensitive M2M and IoT applications in even the most difficult of situations. The CoAP connection is persistent, making two-way communication possible. To make it even simpler to connect devices to ZATAR, we offer a complete Device Library in JAVA to establish and maintain the connection to ZATAR. In the future, we will support other device languages as well. Also, we plan to support the Lightweight M2M (LWM2M) standard so compliant devices will need no ZATAR code to directly connect to ZATAR. DEVELOPER TOOLS ZATAR currently offers a public REST API and is in the early stages of developing a public device library (Zatar CoAP Client). Open to registered beta users, the public device library allows you to make your device Zatar-enabled for easy integration with the platform. These tools equip 3 rd party app developers to develop apps from both client and device sides. The two endpoints provided for the ZA- TAR software stack allow for easy integration with the existing API. AUTOMATIONS ZATAR offers the definition of automations through the Client API, allowing events triggered through event definitions to be retrieved or pushed to a user via a predefined email notification template. This lets you define what is crucial, who to contact and puts you in a position to take preventive action. Page 14 Page 15

APPLICATIONS Page 19

APPS OVERVIEW Things get interesting when these connected devices and services start creating compound applications within their own verticals and across industries. ZATAR enables applications that help create new business models across industries. These applications, developed by vertical experts, focus on taking advantage of the ZATAR RESTful API to access the information composed of millions of data points to create applications that businesses, enterprise systems, end-users and customers can understand and consume. Examples of these applications include use cases like pay-per-use, improved productivity, predictive analysis, and custom experiences. Pay-per-use model The growing trends of mobile workers, cloud technology and 24/7 connectivity is changing the way businesses function. The IoT is enabling changes in key business models, such as the adoption of the Pay-per-use model. This shift will provide businesses insight into how their customers are engaging with their products or services in real time. This is exciting because it gives customers the option to change the way they pay for services. Scenario: Consider a logistics company that has to label millions of goods with RFID tags for its third party suppliers and vendors. With IoT the logistics company can now offer a pay-per-use billing model for its customers using real-time information coming from the printer. Improved productivity Many enterprises require transparent insight into critical business assets. Understanding how devices are being used, its status and availability is data that integrates with customer CRMs to provide real-time intelligence. Because there is not only cost associated with physical use of devices but also each transfer of data from device to cloud, visibility into these transfers is key to understanding the value of having these devices running. Having insight into device functionality, performance and value improves overall business productivity. Scenario: Consider a hospital with thousands of tools in its facility. With the IoT the equipment manager can improve hospital productivity by gaining real-time information about the various pieces of equipment and their location ensuring asset maximization and performance. Page 20 Page 21

Predictive analysis Businesses make key decisions based on expectations. Knowing what to expect and when to expect it helps keep businesses from incurring unexpected expenses and downtime. Having insight into real-time events makes planning ahead more accurate and enables predictive analysis. Scenario: Consider an enterprise with an automated assembly line running nonstop. With the IoT the plant manager gets predictive analysis information in real time. This allows for identifying potential system failures, giving the business ample time to respond to events and prevent production downtime before it becomes an undue costly burden. information to subsets of customers who meet certain filter criteria so that only they receive the information. Scenario: Consider a digital display screen in a store that is connected to the cloud. With the IoT the display screen personalizes the content for a particular shopper base by detecting when the shopper is standing directly in front of it. Personalized content is then delivered and changes when a new shopper is detected. Custom experiences Mass customization is a growing trend. Today s industries rely on custom experiences to differentiate them from the competition and customers demand personalized experiences. In retail, customers want to have a personalized experience when shopping online and in store. With the IoT enabling proximity technologies such as beacons, businesses can provide customers with unique information based on location or environmental factors. Now, businesses can provide Page 22 Page 23
