Objectives Master s degree: The formation of researchers in the area of humanities, prepared to search for solutions to problems of human reality in the fields of Ethics, Contemporary Philosophy, History, Latin-American Literature and Studies and the practice of higher education teaching. Doctorate degree: To consolidate highest level researchers in the area of humanities, able to carry out high quality studies that contribute to the generation of knowledge, as well as to finding solutions for the problems of human reality, especially in the fields of Ethics, Contemporary Philosophy, History, Latin-American Literature and Studies, for the purpose of participating in the development of our society from a Humanities point of view, through innovation of approaches, analytical and methodological categories of research; as well as supporting higher education teaching. In addition, achieving these objectives leads to a strengthening of the disciplinary profile, which benefits the teaching competence of the researcher. Admission Profile The applicant must be educated in Humanities, Social Science or related areas, as well as possess abilities for research and the transmission of knowledge. This means understanding specialized texts from the field of science of the applicant s formation, in Spanish as well as in other contemporary languages, to know how to prepare writings correctly, to be sensitive enough to detect social and humanistic problems, to display analytical and synthesis skills and to show expositive coherence. Admission Requirements 1. The applicant must submit the required documents on time and in the manner set forth in the invitation to apply. 2. Foreign students and Mexicans with bachelor s degree studies obtained abroad must submit their certificate of studies recognized as equivalent and endorsed by the SEP (Secretary of Public Education). Curriculum Vitae with documents of proof that include an official copy of the bachelor s degree thesis, if applicable and of each one of the publications. 5. Original and copy of the Birth certificate. 6. Original and copy of the complete studies certificate of the bachelor s degree. 7. In case of foreign applicants or Mexicans that obtained previous studies abroad, they are to submit documents that proof the official equivalence of their professional studies, issued by the competent Mexican authority. 8. Two letters of recommendation from specialists in the area that the applicant seeks to study. 9. Proof of Foreign Language Reading Comprehension (English, French, German, Italian or Portuguese), backed by the Language Department 10. Preliminary research Project with the approval of a faculty member from the program, connected to some area of research of the syllabus. 11. Interview with the faculty meeting. 12. When the applicants for admission to this program come from a bachelor s degree background not related to Latin-American studies, ethics, philosophy, history or literature, respectively if his/her curriculum requires it, may be asked to take as a prerequisite the courses the Doctoral Commission (CD) decides on. 13. To pass the selection exam. A failing grade might be reconsidered by the majority (75%) of the faculty meeting in the area that corresponds to the applicant, due to the exceptional quality of the research project.

Graduate profile Master s degree: The graduate will possess an ample formation in the area of humanistics, especially in subjects connected to his/her own field of study (Ethics, Contemporary Philosophy, Historical Studies, Latin-American Studies, Literary Studies). He/she will use the acquired theoreticalmethodological foundation in order to test appropriate hypothesis, able to find out about sociopolitical problems, historical events, cultural thought or products referring to the human being and his/her context. He/she will be able to adopt a reflective and critical attitude when facing issues of his/her competence. Likewise he/she will work with greater efficiency in teaching due to the in depth study of humanistic knowledge, invested with multiple and diverse experience about the human being. Doctorate degree:
The graduate will have a broad perspective about the human being. He/she will be skilled for performing research by applying the theoretical methodological knowledge in an original and innovative way. He/she will be able to educate other researchers while transmitting an analytical and creative mentality, enhanced through dialogue and the exchange of ideas with other colleagues. He/she will be willing to develop individual or collective research projects, looking to be interdisciplinary oriented in all of our areas. He/she will be able to establish relationships with other academic institutions and to transmit his/her knowledge and research results through publications, congresses and teaching activities. He/she will identify and synthesize scientific and humanistic information. As well as helping other researchers by constructively criticizing the research.
