Introduction. 3 The Sowaqua Group of mineral claims, tenures, 578998, 579003, 579004 and 579005, three single cell and one double cell claim, comprising 105.1 hectares, were staked to investigate the source of precious metals found on the properties during early mining years. The claims are cut by the Hozameen Fault, a gold bearing structure trending northwest, dividing the underlying geology between the ultramafics on the east side of the fault from the undivided sedimentary rocks on the west. This fault structure is better known as the Coquihalla Gold Belt, once hosting the Carolin Mine, the Emancipation Mine, and other deposits, all of which are greatly influenced by the fault s geology. In the 1920s, sluicing, opencuts, trenching and a number of shafts were sunk on benches along this area of Sowaqua Creek, with values of gold and platinum being recovered. However, there have been no records found indicating that the source of those deposits were located, sparking interest in Sowaqua Creek region. Elevation across the tenure ranges from 480m above sea level, at the creek, to 555m at the northeast corner, and 1000m at the southwest corner of the claim. The property is conducive to prospecting for generally five to six months of the year. Location & Access The Sowaqua Group of claims are situate 13.2 kilometres east-northeast of Hope, BC, in the Sowaqua Creek Valley. Access to the property group is gained by exiting BC Highway #5 at the Sowaqua Creek Turnoff, thence travel eastward along the Sowaqua Creek FSR, for a distance of 3.5 kilometres, adjacent to the claim s northeastern boundary. In that the FSR has a steep incline in the onset and is often rather rough over the first few kilometres (generally more restricted to the grade), though it has been navigated with 2WD vehicles, 4WD vehicles would be recommended. While the Sowaqua Creek FSR does not cross through each individual tenure, there exists an old logging road which descends the slope and passes through the claim area, however, during the rebuilding of the current Sowaqua Creek FSR, the entrance to such old roadway was in-filled so as to better service the main FSR. Though in general, such slope is rather steep, there are two locations with more gradient slopes, permitting easier access to the valley floor. Summary & Conclusion This report is based on field notes provided by Dr. N. Finnelli and Associate, out of New York City, of which outlines the activities carried out on the tenure-group over the dates of September 2 nd and September 3 rd, 2013. Camp was setup at a pull-off within claim boundaries, along the Sowaqua Creek FSR. On Day #1, the trail illustrated on Map 3 (hereto in following) was taken to descend down-slope along an old log slashing, then veering northwestward to graduate on downward to the creek level. On the first date, drainage sampling was carried out over the traverse noted on mapping as Day #1. Creek gravel and clay-based matter were handpanned to examine for the presence of tracer minerals indicative of localized precious metals, and, grab samples acquired along the creek banks and from slide material, were inspected for the same consideration. Flakes up to 2mm breadth and fine particles of gold, along with extremely small nodules of what appeared to be platinum, were recovered from along the creek. However, it could not be determined if such were from gravitational drift from above, or if from reworked glacial deposition. On the second said date of explorations, though extremely rough going and time consuming, the hillside slope (area as illustrated on Map #3 as Day 2 Work Area) was prospected for outcrops. Several outcrops were noted, particularly along mountain run-off drainage areas. Dark to medium-dark Serpentinite appeared to be the dominate formation. Random grab and chip samples were secured for later microscopic examination. This ultramaphic belt appears to be associated to and controlled by, the Hozameen Fault. In such event the results of further examination of both the grab samples and the gravel concentrates reveals anything of mentionable significance, an Adendum to this report will be filed with the Ministry.
