General Knowledge 1. Each Bible verse begins with a name and two numbers. The name tells you the Bible book where you find the verse. The first number is the chapter number. The second number is the verse number. Ex: Psalms 100:3 - Psalms (the book), 100 (the chapter), 3 (the verse) 2. Example: Jeremiah 10:10a The a behind the 10 means that this is the first part of the verse. Example: Psalm 119:74b The b behind the 74 means this is the last part of the verse. 3. The Bible has two Testaments the Old and the New. The Old Testament has 39 books. The New Testament has 27 books. Know the books of the New Testament, which book comes before and which comes after. 4. According to 1 Timothy 1:1-5 a) Timothy s mother s name was Eunice. b) Timothy s grandmother s name was Lois. c) What did his mother and grandmother teach him? Answer: The holy scriptures d) What does Paul call Timothy in verse 2? Answer: My dearly beloved son e) A son in the faith means that Paul was the one who told Timothy about the Lord Jesus Christ. Because of what Paul said, Timothy trusted Christ as his Savior. 5. According to 2 Timothy 3:16--17, Paul listed four reasons why the Bible is important: a) for teaching c) for correcting b) for rebuking d) for training in righteousness 6. Know what God created on each day of creation. According to Gen. 1:1, 2:7; Revelation 22:13; Isaiah 44:6; Psalm 116:5 a) In Isaiah 44:6, the Lord says, I am the first and I am the last. b) in Ps. 116:5, three words are used to describe God. According to the dictionary, this is their meanings. 1. Gracious pleasant and kind to people of lower social position; courteous; merciful 2. Righteous - doing right; behaving justly; proper, just, right 3. Compassion feeling for another s sorrow or hardship that leads to help; sympathy, pity 10. According to Psalm 145:17, 139:2 3; Hebrews 13:5 a) Fill in the blanks: The LORD is righteous in all His ways and loving toward all he has made. b) Ps. 139:2-3 tells us that God knows about us when we re sitting down, standing up or lying down. God knows about us ALL the time! How does that make you feel? 11. According to 1 Cor. 2:5; 2 Cor. 13:14; John 3:16; Rom. 5:8 a) Why do you think we should trust God rather than people? Answer: man s wisdom can t compare to God s power. b) When did Christ die for us? Answer: when we were still sinners. 12. Know Hebrews 13:5b - Because God has said, Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. 13. Review the following verses from the Start Zone: a) Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. b) Acts 16:31 - Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved. c) 2 Corinthians 9:15 - Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift! d) Psalm 25:4 - Show me your ways, O LORD, teach me your paths. e) Jeremiah 17:9 - The heart is deceitful above all things and beyond cure. Who can understand it? 2

Psalm 100:3 Know that the Lord is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Answer #2: God gave us the Bible so we can know that He (the Lord) is the one and only true God Jeremiah 10:10a But the Lord is the true God; He is the living God. Salvation: freed forever from the punishment of sin Saved: freed forever from the punishment of sin Answer #8: God gave us the Bible so we can know how to live. Psalm 86:11 Teach me Your way, O Lord, and I will walk in Your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name. Walk: how you live your life Fear: respect 3
