GREP Series is a combination of GREP-EG (improved thermally expandable graphite) and other materials, RINKA (stabilized red phosphorus), APP (ammonium polyphosphate), and etc. Characteristics GREP Series allows you to produce excellent flame retardant polymer compounds of high oxygen indices and rated to UL94 V0. GREP Series gives the opportunity of flame-retardant polymer compound with good mechanical properties. GREP Series-containing polymer compounds do not produce any corrosive gas in fire or when heated. Smoke is also suppressed. Mechanism GREP Series shows high performance of flame retardancy by combining two different effects. One is due to the physical effect of expandable graphite and the other is due to the chemical effect of phosphoric chemicals by way of example red phosphorus and ammonium polyphosphate. Expandable graphite-containing polymer compounds expands like a fiber when in fire or when heated. The expanded graphite covers the surface of the molten phase and protects from the heat of fire. Many blends contain bromide flame retardants for PP melt drip, the most popular of which include TBA-BP and P-680G or TBS-BP and P-65CN the latter made by SUZUHIRO CHEMICAL CO.,LTD. These types of flame retardants cause PP to burn and drip vigorously when it comes into contact with flames. However, when surgical-grade cotton (less than 12 inches) is ignited, although the time required for the flames to be extinguished (in seconds) may meet standards, the assessment grade is V2 rather than V0. The addition amount of DC-104 will homogenize drip particles, minimizing the risk that highly viscous particles with large flames will ignite surgical-grade cotton.
