Mission of San Diego Minority Construction Coalition (SDMCC) The mission of the San Diego Minority Construction Coalition is to provide a mechanism in which San Diego based minority construction and construction related companies to gain increased access to capital, contracts and capacity building that will enable them to grow (expand) and create jobs in San Diego minority low-moderate income communities. Purpose and Vision San Diego Minority Construction Coalition The construction industry is the foundation to job creation for minority communities that in turn battle poverty. The minority construction and construction related companies are the engine to job creation yet lack equitable access to capital, contracts (commercial, residential, services, repair, maintenance, renovations) and capacity building for their companies. The San Diego Minority Construction Coalition will focus on capital, contracts and capacity building for San Diego based construction companies that enable them to create jobs in minority low moderate income communities.

Disproportionate Racial Wealth Gap for San Diego San Diego Minority Facts: 2014 Federal Reserve Study (Income Inequality/Racial Income Inequality): 2010-2013: White Median Net Worth +2% ($142,000) San Diego +4 ($168,200) (adjusted for San Diego) 2010-2013 Minority Median Net Worth -17% ($18,100) San Diego -27 (12,300) (adjusted for San Diego) Minorities account for over 62% of San Diego population (includes undocumented residents) Minorities account for 82% of all poverty in San Diego Wealth Gap between White and Minorities has grown to 26 to 1 in San Diego San Diego: White Median Income $66,017 versus Latino Median Income of $43,601 Latinos and Blacks account for less 8% of 2013 San Diego Conventional-FHA Home Loans 97% of Latinos and Blacks in San Diego will not be able to become home owners San Diego Minorities are declined for Home loans than non-minorities by 4 to 1 Latino s account for over 48% of California and San Diego foreclosed Homes Less than 3% of all available private equity is invested in minority firms in any given year, despite minorities representing approximately over 54% of the San Diego population. Less than 47% of San Diego minorities covered by health insurance Over 87% of San Diego minority families reside in Low and Moderate Income communities More than 78% of San Diego minority families headed by single mother live in poverty San Diego Unified School District (2012): African Americans (11% of students-78% classified as socio-economically disadvantaged) Latinos (45% of students-84% classified as socio-economically disadvantaged) Asian (14.8% of students-60% classified as socio-economically disadvantaged San Diego Unified School District (2012) High School Drop out Rate: White (6.7%) African American (14.3%) Latino (13.2%) Asian (14.4%) San Diego Unified School District (2011)-4 th Graders: Math Proficiency- White (66%) African American (17%) Latinos (24%) Reading Proficiency- White (57%) African American (17%) Latinos (17%)

Principals of SDMCC: Our coalition strives to influence institutional practices around the following key principles: 1) Provide a mechanism that will enable increased access to contracts for San Diego based minority construction companies 2) Provide a mechanism that will enable increased access to capital for San Diego based minority construction companies 3) Review of Supplier Diversity efforts by major corporations and develop a working relationship to develop increased access to San Diego based minority construction companies by key corporations 4) Work with key corporations to provide capacity building tools to San Diego based minority construction companies that will enhance their ability to grow and create jobs in San Diego minority communities 5) Develop Community Economic Development Models That Create Jobs in minority communities of San Diego
