User Interface For detailed information on creating any display, please refer to the on-line ProphetX Help selection from the ProphetX Main Menu. Global ProphetX Preferences The File/Preferences selection from the main menu bar will set all user-defined preferences for ProphetX. You will want to set these preferences before doing anything else in ProphetX 3.x, as it will affect all of the displays you use. Remember to make selections at the root of the directories as well as within the sub-sections. The File Preferences can be accessed by clicking on the Preferences button button bar. on the main Navigating ProphetX Docked Panes The Docked Window Panes are located at the left side of the screen. They are minimized when not in use. When you point to one of panes, it will expand to show selections available. (Various selections will be described within the ProphetX features described in the rest of this document.) To Hide the Docked Panes completely, select View from the Main Menu and uncheck Docked Window or click on the Docked Window toggle button on the button bar as shown below. 3

The Context Tool Bar is located at the bottom of the window frame. In File/Preferences/General Preferences you can set the status to Auto Hide Context Toolbar or show on every display. The F2 key toggles the toolbar off or on, regardless of which preference you ve selected. Starting with Prophet X version 3.12 when the toolbar has been toggled off you can just hover over that area and it will pop up for you without manually turning it on. Use the buttons on the Context Tool Bar to make changes to the contents of that display. If you have more than 1 display open in the window this tool bar will have buttons related to each of them and located side by side. Split Views On the Context Tool Bar, click on the Linked Views in Split Pane to link a display on the bottom of the current window. View can be split vertically or horizontally. Click on the Create a Linked View button to select the view to display: The examples above are horizontally linking the open display to a Quote View Window. To delete the split view, right-click in the window and select Delete View. Select Reframe View to create it in a separate window. Note: You can move it back into the original window as a tabbed display (drag and drop in the tabbed area of the original window) but you cannot put it back into the split format unless you ecreate the split format as outlined above. 4

Tabbed Displays All displays can be tabbed within one window or as individual displays if preferred. The Create new tabs in same frame toggle button on the main (upper) button bar will determine where to place the module you are selecting. The default (off) can be defined in the File Preferencesoption from the main menu. When the button is indented on the button bar, it s set to place windows in a tabbed format in the same frame. (See example below) If it s not indented, your selection will create a new window for the display. This example shows the button indented new displays will be placed in tabs in the same window. Right click on a tab to change the tab itself (for example, to place the tab in a new frame), or to delete, rename, or change the color of the tab. Detaching Windows (Multi-Monitor Display) Right click on the Title Bar to change the window title or to detach the window and place it outside of ProphetX (to a different monitor, for example) LogIn Button Click on the Login button on the main (upper) toolbar to change to a different server, retrieve your password, or change your current password. Typically you don t have to change the server as it will automatically roll to a different server if something happens to the one you re connecting to. 5

News Double-click on a news category from the docked News display - this will open a news index. To display a story, double-click on the headline. Toggle between news pages by clicking on the left and right arrows on the news Context Toolbar. You can also do this by holding down the Ctrl and Page Up or Page Down keys. 6

Quotes To create a new quote display: Select Quotes/Quote Sheet from the Main Menu Type the quote symbol following the instructions described on the ProphetX Quick Reference Guide Tips: To drag and drop from the symbol search to the quote sheet, click on the symbol (or highlight a group of symbols) wait for a second while the search closes and then drag it to the location where you want to drop it. Quote displays can also be created from other displays by right clicking in the display and selecting New/Quotes/Quote Sheet. You can copy and paste most symbols from another quote sheet or Windows application. You can copy data from the quote sheet to other ProphetX displays. Just tile the windows, then drag and drop from 1 to the other. You can drag and drop to a spreadsheet to create a linked spreadsheet. 7

Traded Spreads Traded spreads can be entered as a futures chain in a quote sheet Type the symbol root and press Ctrl/Shift/F3 The spreads will roll at expiration. Price Alerts Before creating alerts, set the default alerts selections under File/Preferences. The Frequency default is Retrace, which will not trigger again until the price either goes above or below the alert criteria and then hits the criteria again. In this example an alert log will display when the current QCL (electronic crude) price is at or above 75. 8

E-mail from Price Alerts Alerts may be sent to an e-mail address when the alert criteria are met. The default e-mail specifications are defined in the File Preferences for Alerts. Activate the E-mail selection in the Alerts dialog box. Quote View The Quote View displays everything that is available on that instrument. Attributes such as blinking and highlighting can also be applied to the Quote View. Select Quotes/Quote View from the Main Menu Type the symbol for the instrument and click on OK Example of a Quote View display 9

Charts To create a chart select Chart/Chart from the Main Menu Bar. A blank chart will open. Just type the symbol you d like, OR drag and drop it from a quote list or the symbol search and press Enter. To change a chart to a different instrument, click anywhere in the chart and start typing the new symbol. The chart entry (as shown above) will open and start populating as you type the symbol. To add an instrument to an existing chart, type the new instrument, hold down the Ctrl key, and press Enter. OR, hold down the Ctrl key, then drag and drop the symbol from a Quote List, another display or from the Symbol Search docked pane. Hint: Drop the data before releasing the Ctrl key. A chart can also be created from most displays by right-clicking in the display and selecting New/Chart. 10

Studies Adding a Study to a Chart: Select the study from the f(x) docked pane Drag it to the chart. OR Right click in the chart and select Add Study Select the appropriate study from the list. Changing Study Parameters Prior to Adding the Study to the Chart: Right-click on the study name listed in the f(x) docked pane and make the changes in the displayed dialog. Update will save the parameters permanently. Changing Parameters after Adding to the Chart: Right-click and select Properties, and modify as necessary. 11

Creating a New User Custom Study When creating your own studies you can either use the pre-defined studies as part of your study or you can create it as a brand new study. Right-click on User Custom Studies in the Studies/Filters docked pane Select New Custom Study Folder Select Add New Custom Study. The study dialog box will open If combining the formula with a pre-defined study, right-click on the study name in the Standard study list on the docked pane and select Create xxxxx(name of study). The study will be added to the end of the User Study list. Right-click on the study to open the study dialog box. The Study Dialog Box In the Name entry of the User Function dialog box, give the study a unique name. Type the formula for the study in the Formula entry. If using a pre-defined study, modify it to create the new study criteria. If not using system parameters, delete any parameters listed in the Parameters section. When finished select the OK button. The study will display in your study list and can be added to the chart as outlined above. 12

Synthetic Spreads This feature is used to create spreads and other studies, as well as set instrument properties at the same time - such as conversion values. The Synthetic Spreads calculator also calculates the high and low results while the User Custom Studies formulas are based solely on the close. Navigate to the f(x) docked pane on the left and select Synthetics. Right click and select New. The Synthetic Spread Definition dialog box will open. In the Symbol area, type the base symbol or formula. In the Weight area, type the weighted value (number to multiply by). Right click in the dialog and select New Entry. In the second line type the next base symbol or formula. In Weight, type + or and the weighted value. Continue to add entries as necessary. When finished Click OK. Using the Synthetic Study Drag and drop it from the Synthetic Study list or, on the display you want the study, type a colon in front of the synthetic name. Ex: FutCash10yr will display the results of this synthetic. Review: Use the Synthetic Spread calculator if you want a bar or candlestick chart and include the high and low calculated values. Use the individual formula or User Custom Study if you are only interested in the close and a line chart. 13

Chart Signals ProphetX has several built-in chart signals such as Stochastic and MACD s which display buy/sell signals on the chart. Using Pre-defined Signals Create the base chart and add any preferred studies. Select Studies and Filters from the docked menu bar on the left. Click on the signal, drag, and drop it on the chart. Modifying a Signal Navigate to the Studies/Filters docked tool bar Select the signal to modify and right-click Select Properties the properties dialog will open First, select the buy or sell signal to modify. - Change or enter a new formula in the Rule section. - Make sure the Icon checkbox is checked and select an icon to display in the chart. - Make sure the Color checkbox is selected and select the color of the signal. - If you would like text to display along with the signal make sure the Text checkbox is checked and type the text. - If setting an alert to trigger along with the symbol, check Message and enter the message text. - Run will allow you to run another program if the signal activates. Type the path to that program in this entry. - Click OK when finished. 14

Creating a Signal When asked for a signal name, enter a unique name for the signal. Follow the same directions as above. Trend Line Studies and Drawing Tools To add a trend line to a chart, click on the drop-down arrow labeled Create Line Study, located on the charting Context Toolbar. Select the appropriate trend line When applying a trend line, click at the point on the chart where you want to start the line, click on the starting point and then drag and draw the line to the ending point and double-click. Click again to deactivate the study. If a trend line is placed on a chart and you change the chart s interval, the trend line may not look correct because of the interval period. ProphetX can t intuitively know what the user wants to do next. Therefore, trend lines may need to be re-created when making these changes. However, if you go back to the original increment the trend line will still display where you put it. To make changes to the trend line, right-click on it and select Properties. (The property changes you make will override the global preferences on this chart only. If you want to permanently change the properties for any new charts, you must go to File/Preferences/Drawing Tools and make the changes there. 15

Time and Sales The Time and Sales shows all trades that have occurred on an individual instrument. The default Time and Sales display is selected in the File Preferences under Time and Sales: Select Charts/Time and Sales from the Main Menu Type the symbol for the instrument to be displayed and press Enter Right click in the display to change the default view. Example of Time and Sales in the down rows selection Example of Time and Sales in the Across columns selection: 16

Options Options are available as part of a Pro package or by subscription. There are several options displays to select from: The ATM display shows the underlying contract months and the current call/ put pricing for each of them. Detailed information about each month can be seen by double-clicking on the call or put for that contract month. The Series View displays the detailed information for a specific symbol (same as double- clicking on the ATM display described above. 17

The Strike View display shows all the contract months for an underlying symbol. Click on the appropriate button at the top of the window to display the various calculated fields, such as, Implied Volatility, Theoretical Value, etc. The options can be graphed from the Series or Strikes displays. Click on the drop-down arrow next to the Graph button on the context bar at the bottom of the display and select the information to graph. Example of Graphed Theoretical Value: To do What If scenarios in options, lock all of the options prices and implied volatility curves at the same time by clicking on the Lock button. This will avoid price updates while you re doing the What If. You can also lock these two fields individually by right clicking on the column heading and selecting the lock option from the drop-down list. 18

Then, click on the What If button to take you to the dialog to enter your situational criteria: For example, enter a different price to see how it affects the implied volatility or theoretical value. Some notes: When entering the underlying symbol criteria follow the directions in the dialog box. You may not enter a rolling symbol, such as QCL@1. When required you must enter the full month and year information. The default calculation method is Parabolic. To change this method, click on the drop-down arrow under IV Curve. RIght click on column headings to add or remove fields from the options display Right click to go to Properties and select your preferred options criteria. Ex: IV update defaults to update only when a trade occurs if you want the display to update every time the underlying instrument trades as well, select Option or Underlying Trade. 19

DDE ProphetX 3.x allows for Drag and Drop to DDE link quotes to a spreadsheet. It works best if you size ProphetX and the spreadsheet in order to see the spreadsheet cells you are linking to. To cut and paste, hold down the ALT key while dropping it to paste the data to the spreadsheet. You can also use the Edit/Copy command from the ProphetX display. Then go to your Excel spreadsheet and highlight the cell you want to copy into. Select Edit/Paste Special and Paste.(version 3.11 and above only, The data in the spreadsheet will update as long as you have ProphetX open in the background. A word about RTD RTD (Real Time Data) is a newer technology that can be used in place of DDE. You can set the update time to snapshot the data at specified intervals rather than using system resources to consistently update every time a price changes. RTD and DDE can be used interchangeably between linked documents. To select DDE or RTD, go to the ProphetX Preferences/General tab and select the linking options in the center right of the dialog. To learn more about RTD, please refer to it in the Help files. E-mail any display All displays can be copied and e-mailed. Highlight the data and press Ctrl/C Select File/Send E-mail from the main menu bar Paste (Ctrl/V) the data in the e-mail body and address to sender 20
