Not choosing a vendor with US-based support and training employees If your software vendor is trying to save money by employing overseas contractors to answer your telephone questions, they may not understand your questions and may not be able to provide answers in a timely manner. If the vendor chooses to use outside contractors for training, your training experience may be a waste of time and money if the contractor isn t knowledgeable in the software or if your pre-installation information isn t passed to that person. Even if the contractor knows the software and receives your pre-installation information, you will likely never get to speak with him again after your training. You want trainers who will be available post training to answer questions. 4. Not seeing a full demonstration of the software The best way to know what the software will do for you is to see a demonstration of the software you are interested in performed by a knowledgeable employee. Ask all of your questions. If there are functions your present software does, ask to see how this software performs like tasks. Don t assume that just because your present software offers this feature that the new one automatically will.
