Overview MoGraph Mentor is the online school for individuals looking to pursue a career in motion graphics. Our program is designed to develop students technical, artistic & professional abilities. Students will attend weekly lectures that focus on the concepts and theories that motion graphics are built upon. We treat motion graphics as the combination of two distinct disciplines: Design & Animation. Classes will focus on the foundational principles of these disciplines and guide students through projects that will give them an opportunity to apply their knowledge. Our program also seeks to provide the professional development necessary for students to compete for jobs. We offer job placement services through our network of partner studios & agencies. Graduates will also receive personalized audits of their portfolio and be given practical action steps for acquiring work. Founder & Mission MoGraph Mentor was founded by Michael Jones. Michael worked as a professional motion designer for a number of years, completing work for clients such as: Nike, Microsoft, Adidas, Coors Light, The United Nations Foundation and many more. Michael currently resides in Atlanta, Ga where he runs MoGraph Mentor full time. Class Structure Each class will be 12 weeks in length and be limited to 12 students. Students attend a weekly lecture with their mentor, via Adobe Connect. This class time will focus on core concepts but also serve as an opportunity to interact with mentors and ask questions. At the end of each class mentors will outline assignments for the week. Students will submit their assignment for mentor critique and feedback. Workshops Two times a semester students will be offered a non-mandatory online workshop. It will be made available free of charge to students. It will cover concepts not already discussed during regular class time. This is meant to give additional resources and training to students who choose to attend. Projects Students will engage in a number of motion graphics projects. They will be guided through the creation of these works by their mentor. Students will be permitted to display these works in their online portfolio and we highly encourage they do. Since we will be creating speculative work for fictional clients a simple disclaimer must be added to each project that is published online. This is to let prospective employers know the work was created in a student environment. Job Placement Program We are happy to offer all graduates (only those who complete all classes in the course) a job placement program. Students who complete the MoGraph Mentor program will have a profile created in an exclusive online directory. This directory is accessible only by our Job Placement partners. Our partners are studios, agencies, businesses & non-profits that consistently use freelance or full time motion designers. Your profile will include your basic information, link to online portfolio and personal note/recommendation from your mentors. Withdrawal or Cancellation Students who wish to withdrawal from the MoGraph Mentor program once it has begun will not be refunded their money. Once a student enrolls in the program we employ and compensate their mentor for that semester which makes us unable to refund tuition. We ask that students be sure they are committed to finishing the semester to which they enroll.
