Page 2 of 5 Introduction As your e-commerce business grows to meet your customers online shopping demands, the need for strict transaction security in the online payment industry also continually increases. As a result, the WebLink and Relay Response Payment Gateway connection methods have become insufficient to fully meet the security needs of today s online merchants. To improve the security and performance of the Payment Gateway, and to meet merchants growing e-commerce needs, WebLink and Relay Response will eventually be retired as Payment Gateway connection methods. This guide has been created to assist merchants currently using these connection methods in their transition to an alternate connection method solution, including Advanced Integration Method (AIM) and Simple Integration Method (SIM). With the release of SIM, ADC Direct Response has been renamed to Advanced Integration Method (AIM). If you currently use the ADC Direct Response connection method, you are already using AIM and do not need to convert. Do I Need To Convert? If you are currently an Authorize.Net merchant and can answer YES to each of the following questions, this guide is for you: Do you have an e-commerce website? Do you submit transactions from that website to the Payment Gateway? Do you, or if applicable, does your shopping cart, integrate to the Payment Gateway using the WebLink or Relay Response connection methods? (If you do not know which connection method you use, please contact the web developer or shopping cart that integrated your payment form page to the Payment Gateway.) You do NOT need to use this guide if... you use the Virtual Terminal or Upload Transaction File features of the Merchant Interface exclusively to submit transactions to the Payment Gateway; OR you are already successfully submitting transactions to the Payment Gateway via AIM (formerly known as ADC Direct Response) or SIM. If you are NOT using WebLink or Relay Response, you should immediately disable WebLink to strengthen the security of your Payment Gateway account. To disable WebLink: 1. Log into your Payment Gateway account. 2. Click Settings in the main menu. 3. Click WebLink in the Transaction Submission section. 4. Click Disable WebLink Connection Method. 5. Click Yes. WebLink is then disabled for your Payment Gateway account. If you do not see the WebLink option in the Transaction Submission section, then WebLink has already been disabled for your account. For more information or questions about disabling WebLink, please call Customer Support at (877) 447-3938.

Page 3 of 5 Which Method Should I Use AIM or SIM? Once you have positively determined that you are using WebLink or Relay Response to submit transactions to the Payment Gateway, the next step is to identify which other connection method is right for your conversion. Identifying your company s current web development skills will help you determine whether to convert to AIM or SIM; or to choose an alternate solution. You can use the following three questions as a guide. Do you have a secure socket layer (SSL) digital certificate, or can you obtain one? Can you call scripts from a website? Do you have the web development skills needed to write a script? YES, I have or can do ALL these things. If you answered YES to the above three questions, you should convert to AIM, the preferred Payment Gateway connection. To begin integration to AIM, please use the AIM Implementation Guide, available both in the Merchant Interface (select Help from the main menu and click Documentation and Reference Guides), and at http://www.authorizenet.com/support/guides.php. NO, I do NOT have a SSL digital certificate, but I CAN call scripts from my website. Ideally, if you do not already have a SSL digital certificate but can obtain one, you should convert to AIM, the preferred Payment Gateway connection method. However, if you have scripting capabilities and can call scripts from your website, you should convert to SIM. To begin integration to SIM, please read the SIM Implementation Guide, available both in the Merchant Interface (select Help from the main menu and click Documentation and Reference Guides), and at http://www.authorizenet.com/support/guides.php. NO, I do NOT have a SSL digital certificate, and I CANNOT call scripts from my website. Ideally, if you have the web development skill needed to write a script and can host it on your web server, you should convert to SIM. If you do not have access to any of the above, listed below are some alternative solutions you may consider for upgrading your website integration. Shopping Carts Finding an Authorize.Net compatible shopping cart to connect to the Payment Gateway can be an ideal solution for merchants with minimal web development resources or capabilities. Some shopping carts are Internet companies that host payment forms for merchant websites. Other shopping cart solutions may be purchased and hosted independently by the merchant. If you

Page 4 of 5 cannot easily comply with the integration requirements of AIM and SIM, a shopping cart solution that uses AIM or SIM will allow you to submit transactions securely without actually having to integrate to the Payment Gateway yourself. Authorize.Net recently released a Shopping Cart Certification program in part to help merchants easily find a shopping cart solution that is fully compatible with the highest security and performance standards of the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway. Certified shopping carts connect to the Payment Gateway via AIM, the Authorize.Net-preferred connection method. You can view a list of certified shopping carts by clicking here: http://www.authorizenet.com/alliances/carts.php. There are many shopping carts that connect to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway that have yet to certify as AIM compliant. Please be advised that there are some shopping carts that still use WebLink to connect to the Payment Gateway. These carts are subject to the same requirement to convert to either AIM or SIM. If you choose a shopping cart as a conversion solution, be sure to choose a shopping cart that has already converted to AIM or SIM. Web-Hosting Solutions Another alternative to converting to AIM or SIM yourself is to use a web-hosting solution. Webhosting solutions, like shopping carts, allow you to submit transactions to the Payment Gateway securely and require minimum web development skill to implement. There are many inexpensive web-hosting solutions available that integrate to Authorize.Net. One such solution is HyperMart s QuickCharge. QuickCharge is an easy-to-implement web-hosting solution that offers merchants a secure payment form page for collecting payment information, and is already integrated to Authorize.Net using AIM, the Authorize.Net-preferred connection method. QuickCharge s payment form page connects directly and securely with the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway. For more information about QuickCharge, please see HyperMart s QuickCharge FAQ at http://www.hypermart.net/t/quickcharge/faq. Though many web-hosting solutions integrate to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway, be advised that there are some still integrated via WebLink. These webhosting solutions are subject to the same requirement to convert to either AIM or SIM. If you choose web hosting as a conversion solution, be sure to choose a package that supports AIM or SIM. What Do I Do Now? Now that you have decided which connection method to convert to, AIM or SIM, you can begin the process of integration. The AIM and SIM Implementation Guides are available both in the Merchant Interface (select Help from the main menu and click Documentation and Reference Guides), and at http://www.authorizenet.com/support/guides.php. You will need to provide your web developer with this documentation, or contact your shopping cart or web-hosting provider to learn about their current integration method.

Page 5 of 5 Once you finish integrating your website to AIM or SIM, you can test your integration against the Authorize.Net certification system to ensure a smooth conversion and continued successful transaction processing. More information about the certification system, as well as submitting transactions in Test Mode can be found in the Appendices of the AIM and SIM Implementation Guides. Good luck with your WebLink conversion! For questions about conversion to AIM or SIM, please contact Authorize.Net Customer Support at support@authorize.net or 1-877-447-3938.
