Supervisor Paula Schueler: * I processed the payroll and retirement reports.* I have given the board the financial report for May and ask it be accepted by resolution. * I ask the bills for abstract #6 for General and Highway be approved by resolution. * I received a resignation letter from Louise Hubbard as court clerk, Judge Schindler has hired Darlene Mammoser as his new court clerk effective June 1 st. * We have a new contract with Blue Cross & Blue Shield, it is less cost for the Town but co payments will be higher for the employee s. * I received a letter from the Village with amendments to chapters 30, 31 & 34 of their municipal codes in regards to 42 Jamestown Street. (SEQR). * I went to Supervisors meeting May 1 st and June 5 th. * In regards to the music in the park this year, the Chamber has 3 bands planned. Last year we donated $450, what would we like to donate this year? * I have given everyone a flood history report that was written by Don Offhaus, and I went to a flood meeting at the Village on June 9 th in regards to the flood we had on May 13 th. The mayors and supervisors in the area would like to have a public hearing where the people affected by the flood can come and voice their concerns. I have also given everyone a Thatcher Brook Watershed Plan. I suggest everyone reads this plan. I also ask Mr. Dingman and Mr. Walgus chair the Thatcher Brook Task Force for Persia. * My supervisors account A1220.4 is over $25.07 and I ask we take the money out of the Town Board account A1010.4. Highway Superintendent Daniel Ackley: * Read highway bids. * The highway crew has been repairing the roads that were damaged in the flood (Nash Hill and Maple Hill). Councilperson John Walgus: *On May 15 th, Highway Superintendent Ackley and I toured the town roadways to survey the aftermath of the flood. The worst damage was done to Maple Hill Road and Nash Hill Road. I have pictures of the flood damage if anyone would like to see them. We should commend our Highway Superintendent for the hard work he and his crew did to fix the damage that the flood caused. I was really impressed with their level of competence to quickly fix these washouts. I will co chair the Thatcher Brook Task Force for the Town. * This Saturday GARC will be having a meeting
on the Gateway Park project. * I approached NYSERDA about acquiring any funds available on an energy audit of the town building. The energy cost for the building is $6,000 for 2013. The way NYSERDA works is they take 10% of the 6,000 which is $600 and then 50% of the 10% which would be $300. For a company to come in and do energy audit would cost us $2,000, so I told them no thank you. The next program is called the Existing Facilities Program which I will be applying for. * Broadway Road will be closed between the railroad crossing and Maple Hill Road shortly to replace three cross culverts. It will take about two weeks to complete, traffic will be detoured down Persia Road.* I was wondering how the Town personal ID cards were coming along? * I am going to check with the Town of Otto to see how they acquired 911 signs for properties so Persia can have all of there addresses marked. * I received word from Congressman Reed s office on a probable funding increase for the DP remediation process for West Valley Demonstration Project. Councilperson Linda Boats: absent Councilperson Gloria Tomaszewski: I sat in on a D.A. court night and observed how the court is run. The judges and court clerks have a good handle on things and run the court nicely. Councilperson Robert Dingman: I will chair the Thatcher Brook Task Force for the Town. Assessor Mary Bailey: The Village tax bills have generated a GREAT deal of calls, visits. The biggest complaint is from the veterans who have not had their Village veterans exemption pro rated. That means a $5,000 exemption on a $7,000 assessment was not pro rated when the assessment went to $35,700, for example. They are now paying a good deal more in taxes. Also, seniors have called. The Village senior exemption limit is at $17,500. The Town and County adopted the sliding scale with a $24,200 income limit. Any Change in these exemptions must come from the Village Board. The Board of Assessment Review heard 7 complaints.
