STS Congenital Quality Module - Center Data Version 1.0 This document current as of: 05/21/2012 2:00:11 PM STS Congenital Quality Module - Center Data Version: 1.0 Bedside multidisciplinary rounds BedRounds Section Name: Center Data (Structure Measures) SeqNo: 100 Indicate whether your institution has bedside multidisciplinary rounds (including cardiac surgery, cardiology, critical care, and nursing) on all pediatric and congenital cardiac surgery patients who are in the intensive care unit. Recommended participation includes but not limited to: cardiac surgery, cardiology, critical care, primary caregiver, family, nurses, pharmacist and respiratory therapist. Involvement of the family is encouraged. Minimum daily participation to satisfy the measure must include participation by ALL of the following rounding at the bedside as a group: cardiac surgery, cardiology, critical care, and nursing. Cardiac surgery, cardiology, and critical care participation must include participation by the attending physician; fellow or resident participation alone does not satisfy the measure. Participation of a physician double boarded in critical care and cardiology satisfies the requirement for both cardiology and critical care participation. Nursing participation requires routine participation by both the Charge Nurse and the patient s bedside nurse. Parent Integer 1 Yes 2 No Page 1 of 15

Location of primary care for non-neonatal pediatric and congenital cardiac surgical patients during post-operative peirod NNPostopPtCare SeqNo: 200 Indicate the location at your institution where non-neonatal pediatric and congenital cardiac surgical patients are primarily cared for during the post-operative period. Parent Harvest Codes and Value Definitions: 1 Free standing pediatric cardiac intensive care unit 2 General pediatric intensive care unit 3 General pediatric intensive care unit, by a specialized cardiac team 4 Combined adult and pediatric cardiac intensive care unit 5 Other (including combination of the above) Integer A unit in a physically separate location from the general pediatric ICU dedicated to the care of pediatric cardiac patients (may also include adults with congenital heart disease.) An ICU that cares for a variety of pediatric patients, including cardiac patients. A specialized cardiac team must include participation by ALL of the following cardiac surgery, cardiology, critical care, and a nursing team dedicated primarily to cardiac patients. The physical location of this type of unit is within the general pediatric ICU; there may be a distinct bedspace for cardiac patients or the cardiac beds may be located throughout the general ICU. An ICU that cares for both pediatric and adult cardiac patients. (Note, adult in this case refers to adults undergoing surgery for acquired cardiac disease such as coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, etc., rather than only adult patients with congenital heart disease.)
