Course Descriptions Score Sheet Basics for Evaluation and Management (E/M) Services (Part B) In this session you will learn the key components of an Evaluation and Management (E/M) service (history, exam, medical decision making) and how they relate to the score sheet. Excerpts of medical records will be used as examples of crediting the key components using the score sheet. We will provide answers to the most frequently asked questions, and provide tips and resources to assist you when coding E/M services. Target Audience: This class is designed for Physicians, Non-Physician Practitioners, and healthcare billing and coding professionals who have a basic knowledge of E/M services. Evaluation and Management Services: Physician Coding in the Hospital Setting (Part B) This session will provide an overview of Evaluation and Management (E/M) services performed by practitioners in the hospital setting. The focus will be on observation, initial, subsequent and discharge services. In addition to the services, we will discuss when time is a factor in determining the level of service, who, how, when and where services can be split/shared, and the use of prolonged service codes. This course will wrap up with an interactive case study featuring codes used in the training. Target Audience: This class is designed for Physicians, Non-Physician Practitioners, healthcare billing and coding professionals, and any provider who bills Part B inpatient E/M services. Successful Keys to Exploring Office and Outpatient Evaluation and Management Principles (Part B) Office and Outpatient principles will describe the components of the History, Exam, Medical Decision Making or Time. We will provide guidance to you on applying these principles through scenarios. Consider this approach a way of effectively streamlining the coding process. Target Audience: This class is designed for Physicians, Non-Physician Practitioners, healthcare billing and coding professionals, and any provider who bills Part B office/outpatient E/M services. Part B Medicare Secondary Payer Start to Finish (Part B) Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) session will focus on educating the provider community on the basics, billing and review of MSP errors. Our information will enhance your knowledge and will help to ensure proper billing and coding of MSP claims. Please join us as we approach the MSP process from start to finish. Target Audience: This class is recommended for healthcare professionals, billers and office staff who bill MSP claims to Medicare Part B. How to Make Observation and the Two Midnight Rule Work for You: Part 1 Observation (Part A) This session will provide an overview on observation, inpatient admission and utilization of Condition Code 44. We will discuss observation guidelines and billing requirements, inpatient guidelines, and appropriate documentation. Also, the session will provide clarification on when to use and bill Condition Code 44. Target Audience: This is a Part A Medicare session with a target audience for hospitals, compliance managers, case managers, and billers and coders. How to Make Observation and the Two Midnight Rule Work for You: Part 2 Two Midnight Rule (Part A) This session provides an overview of the Two Midnight Rule. We will discuss inpatient hospital admission guidelines and the impact of the Probe and Educate process. We will review the regulations on physician order and certification of hospital inpatient services. The process for A/B Rebilling will be examined. Target Audience: This is a Part A Medicare session with a target audience for hospitals, compliance managers, case managers, and billers and 5 coders.

Part A Medicare Secondary Payer From Start to Finish (Part A) Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP) will focus on educating the provider community on the basics, billing and review of MSP errors. Our information will enhance your knowledge and will help to ensure proper billing and coding of MSP claims. Please join us as we approach the MSP process from start to finish. Target Audience: This course is recommended for compliance managers, billers and office staff who bill MSP claims to Medicare Part A. Understanding the Enrollment Process (Part A/B) This course will give you information about provider enrollment, Novitas role, and information about revalidation. The participant will learn the basics of Provider Enrollment, and also review the steps for a provider to be enrolled in the Medicare program so that they can start submitting claims. We will also review the enrollment process so providers understand the approval process. Target Audience: Part B providers, Part A Providers, and anyone who handles enrollment functions. The ABCs of Skilled Nursing Facility Basics: Acronyms, Billing and Common Errors (Part A) Provide Skilled Nursing Facilities with basic coverage requirements, while identifying the most common audit errors and how to avoid them. We will also help to breakdown the rules of who should bill when it comes to consolidated billing. Target Audience: This course is recommended for Skilled Nursing Facility providers and their billing staff, and other provider types that work with Skilled Nursing Facilities. Preparing for International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision (ICD-10) (Part A/B) This course provides an introduction and overview to ICD-10 coding. ICD-10 is the diagnosis code set that will be replacing ICD-9 and will be used to report diagnoses in all clinical settings. The implementation date for ICD-10 is October 1, 2015. We want to assist providers to gain a better understanding about the history, organization and structure, as well as see how ICD-10 compares to ICD-9, and explore upcoming changes with Medicare. Target Audience: This course is targeted to coders, billers, healthcare professionals, compliance managers, and anyone working in a function related to medical coding and billing for both Medicare Part A and Part B. Explore Novitasphere, Our Free Web-Based Portal for the Medicare Part B Provider Community (Part B) This session includes an overview of this fantastic FREE secured web-based internet application which interfaces with Novitas, HETS (HIPAA Eligibility Transaction System), and the Medicare standard system. Learn how to save time by eliminating the need to call Novitas for eligibility, claim status, and clerical error reopening.
