The Skycasters Difference About Us Founded 2001, HQ in Akron, Ohio Independent Satellite-Based ISP Company Owned Infrastructure Not limited by typical VAR/VNO constraints NOC and Tech Support 24/7 Two Premium Satellites G28 & T14 Extensive coverage (North & Central America) Best of Breed Infrastructure: idirect Technologies, Cisco Networks, Intelsat, Telesat 2

The Skycasters Difference The Company Mission To continue as America's premier, full-service, business-grade, 100% satellite ISP offering the most highly engineered and supported satellite Internet and data services available. We have only one focus: Providing Internet and data services tailored to meet your needs 3

The Skycasters Difference The Company Delivers Skycasters managed network delivers promised bandwidth to meet the demands of customers who cannot tolerate inferior latency, bandwidth or reliability. 4

The Skycasters Difference Powered by VSAT The Best Technology on the Market idirect Platform (hub & remote equipment) Vertex/RSI 6.3m Antennas IBM PP, NMS & Compression Servers Cisco IP Network (routers & switches) Aeroflex Test Equipment State-of-the-art Data Center Mil-spec Biometric Security 5

The Skycasters Difference The Satellites Two geostationary satellites - Telesat s T-14 and Intelsat s G-28 - provide Ku band coverage for Skycasters customers across the United States and Canada. 6

The Skycasters Difference Our Customers Whether major oil & gas networks, remote beachfront lodges, unmanned data points, disaster response teams, or an urban headquarters, Skycasters customers are determined to have reliable communications, period. 7

How it Works Customer Equipment - Fixed Equipment 3100 idirect modem 0.96 to 1.8 meter dish External: BUC & LNB Dish Internal: Modem 2 watt to 6 watt BUC (Tx) LNB (Rx) Non- penetrating roof mount or Pole mount 8

How it Works Customer Equipment - Mobile Equipment C-Com inetvu auto-pointing antenna mount 0.75 to 1.2 meter dish 3100 idirect modem 5000, 7000 or 9000 series antenna controller 3 watt to 6 watt BUC (Tx) LNB (Rx) Configurations C-Com only (mount on customer vehicle) Turnkey Solutions Self-contained utility trailer SkyPortable Flyaway 9

How It Works Your PC or laptop is connected to your network, which in turn is connected to the Internet by Skycasters. You open a web browser, and type in a web address. 1 10

How It Works That request is sent from your PC, through your network, to the indoor satellite modem, which is wired directly to the satellite dish at your location. 2 11

How It Works The satellite dish sends this request to the G-28 or T-14 transponder, orbiting 22,236 miles above the equator, which beams the request to the Skycasters teleport. 12 3

How It Works The request then goes to Skycasters NOC, which retrieves the requested website from the web server, across the U.S. Internet backbone. 4 13

How It Works The requested data then follows the reverse path back to you. A 90,000 mile journey, through millions of dollars of infrastructure, all in about 700 milliseconds. 5 14

How it Works Technical Details Native IP with Acceleration WARNING Geek Our performance enhancements dramatically reduce typical satellite latency with high efficiency TCP acceleration and handshakes Dynamic Tx Power Control We dynamically boost or diminish your transmitter power as weather or atmospheric conditions dictate Advanced Satellite Internet Modem (Indoor Unit) MF-TDMA Space-Segment Transmission efficient and secure Enforced Quality of Service (QoS) with protocol prioritization Committed Information Rate (CIR) with every service plan 15

How it Works Reliability the Satellite Satellite avoids terrestrial vulnerabilities of cable, DSL or T-1 Historic reliability of 99.44% Exclusive of weather-related or scheduled maintenance outages In line with leading terrestrial solutions such as DSL or cable Internet Telesat s and Intelsat s redundancy and reliability equal or exceed military specs in the manufacture, launch and operation of their satellites and ground infrastructure. 16

How it Works Reliability Skycasters NOC Redundant Systems Designed to Maximize Up-time Spare 6.3m Antenna Dual Fiber Upstream Connections Dual Generators (combined 170 kw, 470+ Amps) Dual-fed Data Center HVAC Systems Failover (hot-spare) Routers & Switches Skycasters Network Outage MTR (mean time to repair) < 30 minutes 24/7 Live U.S. Tech Support Engineers on call 24/7 17

How it Works Reliability Rain Fade The Physics of Rain Fade Rain water droplet separation approximates the signal wavelength Creates a temporary wall of water Reflects and distorts the satellite signal Dynamic Tx Power Control NOC dynamically and automatically boosts or diminishes remote transmitter power as weather or atmospheric conditions dictate Minimizes event frequency and duration More severe weather is required to cause rain fade on the Skycasters network than on other networks (often no loss of signal occurs) Remotes stay in the network longer, recover sooner Typical duration < 5 minutes 18

How it Works Latency It s His Fault Relativity Aside, (but relative to our competitors), Skycasters Latency is as close to the limits of the equipment and the speed of light over the 90,000+ mile round trip as any Satellite Broadband ISP in the industry Physics requires roughly 502ms our total to the NOC is less than 600ms (including network overhead and encoding and decoding the IP on both ends) 19

24/7 Support In-Sourced Support Live Tech Support 24/7 All Skycasters Employees Not Outsourced Overseas Customer Care from People who Care Someone You Can Call when You have Questions Accounts, Plans, Billing, etc. Dedicated Account Manager for Dealers & Customers with 100+ Sites Professional Installation Team We bribe our installers with food! 20
