T The performance appraisal process is only one part of a larger system that regulates performance. Integrated HR systems include performance management and align all performance management initiatives with the organizational culture and environment.

The primary goal of the performance appraisal is to measure and rate performance. A process that is not used (or used improperly) by managers and employees is useless. Formal, informal, ongoing, periodic, micro-level and S macro-level feedback should all be used to manage performance.

F Appropriately designed incentives will always motivate employees to perform better.
