Contents ADVALON Fiber Expertise 4 Consultancy and Service 6 WACKER at a Glance 7 THE ADVALON BRAND NAME STANDS FOR RELIABILITY AND EXCEPTIONAL EFFECTS. The name ADVALON is all about adding value, which is exactly what WACKER offers its customers and partners in the field of fiber production. To begin with, ADVALON stands for a whole range of top-quality fiber-industry products that are available or can be ordered worldwide. Of course, the name also stands for a wide variety of effects that boost the success of your market activities. ADVALON stands for creative ideas that enhance your portfolio in very special ways. The name ADVALON stands for all this and much more. It goes without saying that ADVALON lets the fiber industry benefit worldwide from the same combination of products, effects and services: the same unvaryingly high product quality, the same expertise and the same commitment. After all, ADVALON is ADVALON the world over. Additionally, the name stands for a great deal that cannot be depicted in tables or specifications. For instance, the experienced specialists who offer you professional advice and help you to optimize your products. Or the people at WACKER SILICONES who listen to you and speak your language, i.e. the highly dedicated scientists who take your ideas seriously and make headway with your latest development. Just think of WACKER SILICONES modern infrastructure that provides an ideal climate for R&D projects. Or our reliable local distributors who form part of a global network.

ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE. SO WHY NOT THE IMPOSSIBLE, TOO? Whether for fiber preparation or process optimization: the ADVALON product line covers an unusually broad, and at times seemingly contradictory, range of properties. High tensile strength or high elasticity dull or glossy finish ADVALON enables you to choose. Hardly any other product line combines attractive trends and technical perfection in such a natural way. And the excellent processing properties let you whip your fiber production into shape. ADVALON at a Glance: High elongation Immense tensile strength High transparency Permanent resilience Hydrophobicity Hydrophilicity Elastic recovery Softness Gloss Matt finish Excellent lubricity Very low friction Antistatic properties Higher process speeds Less maintenance Lower energy requirements ADVALON F The ADVALON F product line is used in polyester fiberfill preparation and gives the fiber polymer an array of excellent properties: Lubricity Soft hand Excellent bulkiness Springiness Permanent resilience Smoothness Insulation properties Sound damping CAVATEX WACKER offers CAVATEX brand cyclodextrins for fiber applications. These cyclodextrins not only trap unpleasant odors such as sweat, but can also be filled with fragrances and conditioning agents that are released slowly during use. They thus increase the wearer s feeling of well being. ADVALON M Our range includes polymer modifiers used to optimize fiber properties, one example being more extensible fibers. Another example is the anti-pilling effect: addition of ADVALON M increases the fiber polymer s brittleness, making it easier to minimize pilling. ADVALON S The ADVALON S product line permits process effects in dry and wet spinning during polyurethane-fiber production: Low friction Good winding characteristics Low unwinding tension Faster process rate Improved efficiency Enhanced effectiveness ADVALON C The fiber finishes in the ADVALON C line are lubricants and auxiliaries used on precursor fibers for carbon-fiber production. These finishes are in demand whenever an application requires very high tensile strength and maximum physical resistance under extreme conditions. Such applications include golf clubs, tennis racquets and structural aircraft parts. ADVALON P The ADVALON P product line includes heat-resistant release agents and lubricants used in melt spinning for various types of fiber such as PET, PA and PP. Used as a spinneret spray, this product line gives you the following benefits: Faster process speeds Reduced downtime SILFOAM Antifoam Agents WACKER offers specially optimized silicone antifoam agents to control foam in wet-spinning baths. SILFOAM antifoam agents also regulate foaming and promote deaeration processes during fiber production and processing. CAVATEX and SILFOAM are registered trade marks of Wacker Chemie AG. 4
